  1. There's a good chance any flowers planted will get wrecked by loutish pub goers on the way home after a skinful. There were some destructive looking types eating the ?24 (*now reduced to ?19.95) Sunday roasts outside the Palmerston on Sunday, i overheard them saying they were intent on going and breaking branches off the palm tree thing in the middle of Goose Green roundabout. Exercise your green fingers and brighten up the area at your own peril, ill say.
  2. You could start up a campaign on intimidation, perhaps? 'encourage' them to bow to your demands. Check with Mick down at The Castle whether he knows any Millwall fans that have spare time on a Saturday afternoon, now they are banned from going within 2 miles of the New Den on match days.
  3. ha, i got got!
  4. This sounds awful. I wonder if the man with the attacker tried to intervene? Or told the authorities about the episode? Autistic or not, sounds like this person is a danger to the public and needs to be sectioned or (if no mental problems exist) put behind bars ASAP.
  5. Stop trying to aggressively deprive someone of their garden. Compulsory purchase order? get in the sea. Besides, it sounds like your house is big enough. You also sound like you'd be a pain in the arse to live beside, although im half convinced this post is simply taking the piss to be honest.
  6. I would have gone and fetched a box of eggs from Co-op, and driven past her house slowly whilst pelting the eggs all over the house. Thatll learn her.
  7. I'd probably prefer to see a Wetherspoons ahead of some flowers, to be honest.
  8. I'd wager its all down to that beastly family friendly music festival that was held on Peckham Rye Common back in May. I'll be using this as ammunition when it rolls around again next year, writing to my MP as i was prevented from walking my dog due to the orange dust.
  9. Tremendous that the alleged perpetrators were caught and now charged. Note they both came from nearby areas of deprivation, to alledgedly violently mug someone in East Dulwich.
  10. I havent thoroughly investigated, but when i looked at their beer menu when it first opened a pint of 'Budvar' (although oddly listed as 4% ABV, which the beer brand 'Budvar' is not) was ?4.50. I then checked their website a week or so later and it was listed as ?4.70. Having checked again just now, a pint of that very same beer, a month or so after opening, is now 30p more. If they are going to raise their prices in such a gung ho fashion then they wont be getting any business or recommendations from me.

For a while, Herne Hill had the highest rate of burglary in the U.K.

Im not even sure how to respond to that, i think you need to get yourself down to Dulwich Hamlet or something, and release some of your shock and outrage in a more productive manner. Hissy fits aside (grow up!), thats a pretty savage thing to happen on a relatively quiet street. Surprised it hasnt made the news though, its a bit of a sad indictment of how common this thing probably is in South London.
  13. Do pray tell what this serious reason for the road closure was then please? Nothing in the news. Looks like someone woke up on the wrong side of bed today. cheer up!
  14. another complaint from a busybody about patrons of the pub talking, laughing and enjoying themselves?
  15. Every time i walk past 500 degrees, which is every day (around 6pm) it is empty. It smacks me as the sort of place where if you went in for a meal, your fellow diners would be large men in leathers and crash helmets, sitting nearby on their mobile phones only looking up to remonstrate with the staff about where their latest delivery has got to. I have always found Dominos to be good value, now i think about it.
  16. Hi guys, with the openings of Sylvester and 500 Degrees, its great that ED has finally got some decent places to get an affordable pizza, having not previously had anywhere before. Has anyone tried the ones in Sylvester yet? What is the best pizza in ED?
  17. Its a shame the pint glass didn't 'slip' out of your hand and shatter on the skull of the little thief. There are lots and lots of these in Peckham. They are badly brought up scum of the earth, and will likely have a life of in and out of prison to look forward to. Saying that, Rye Lane is hardly a 'no go area'. Its a complete dump (although it gets considerably worse the closer you get to Peckham High Street) but hardly unsafe. My biggest gripe is actually trying to walk through it which is very difficult due to incredibly slow moving, large people with nothing better to do than stand around a grim high street blocking the paths and roads.

What an awful replacement. A fancy, expensive, health food shop is no replacement for a decent curry house. there is one of these in Balham i seem to recall and the prices are extortionate.
  19. I think you may want to consider filing a report for the Police, as being unimpressed with phone signal in Dulwich Village should surely qualify as an offence and someone ought be held accountable for this.
  20. Just get a few tequilas in, flash a few cheeky smiles, and make sure your uber app is up to date!
  21. Sign in the window of Headinizm saying they are closing end of September. Shame, as i was going to try it with a view to it being my regular, as the prices seem quite reasonable.
  22. I would always ask to swap my salad for chips when getting lasagne in Wetherspoons. This must have been quite a popular request, as they then changed the menu to charge extra for the chips if you wanted to add them to the lasagne. I havent noticed this 'add chips' option on any other meals. Lots of the meals automatically come with chips granted, but this is quite a unique option to the lasagne. You'd get a much better slab of lasagne at a greasy spoon cafe than wetherspoons, and they wouldnt charge extra for the chips.
  23. Chips with lasagne is widely accepted to be the bollox. Im sure there is some kind of map that shows the whole of the U.K in equally in agreement, but i have yet to track that down.
  24. I get that, but a good chip shop will have a vat/silver cauldron of it made up, kept warm and ready to serve. This is because the chip shop is so good and popular that they need it close to hand. The way it was prepared, in some old looking coffee mug by a mate in a grubby, paint stained t-shirt didnt make it very appetising, no matter the basic similarities of the actual make up of the sauce.
  25. reminds me of a scene in Peep Show
