You're right SimonM, it's not illegal, however many carparks are now controlled by enforcement companies who act on behalf of the estate company and therefore fine customers who breach parking regulations. This happened to me at a B&Q!
  2. Surprise - I agree, the staff have always been helpful and attentive in my experience. I think its hard to fault DKH Sainsubury's on this point. However it does seem, according to most of the responses on here, that the level of service you expect from a supermarket is far from good. With Asda, Tesco's etc offering a better level of service I do wonder why DKH Sainsubrys can't match this. This is what I will seek to find out.
  3. A fair point PeckhamRose! Still, I feel I should see it through...
  4. Thank you everyone for you comments and suggestions. I would like to thank Alexlaw44 for your comments as a staff member. It's very interesting to see that you have similar concerns to the customers. I'm popping in on Saturday to sit down with the manager to go through these comments so if there are any more on top of what has been put forward I'll be sure to add them to the list. Thanks again.
  5. thanks everyone for your comments. Like you all, I'm very frustrated by the lack of service that this Sainsbury's offers and I hope that by passing on our comments we might get a positive response. I'm not sure the manager is aware of all these issues since most tend to be more concerned about hitting targets etc. and are not really interested in the 'little problems'. However I'm hoping this might be the wake up call he needs and I'll be sure to pass on my comments to Sainsbury's HQ as well.
  6. Me, Tony, Christopher and the other Paulie will be sure to keep this strictly between the family and Sainsbury's! The clock is noted and the trolley's are already on my list...
  7. I've been offered a meeting with the manager of the Sainsbury's (Dog Kennel Hill branch) after issuing a complaint about the service. Other than my own concerns I wanted to see if there were any other issues, problems and annoyances that people had that I could put forward to him. I'm not sure how effective my meeting will be but if any good comes from it then it's a step in the right direction me thinks. Any suggestions welcome.

  9. jim_the_chin Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > Clapham, battersea rise, wandsworth bridge, > fulham rd, hammersmith I do this route all the time and it's my preferred route. I've tried all the others and this is definitely the quickest route. It tends to miss most of the heavy traffic in the Chelsea area although Hammersmith can be a nightmare.
  10. i knew it was Primal Scream!! Gonna have to dig out Screamadelica! What an album...
  11. Anyone know what's going on? Very odd for a Sunday night!
  12. A note to all parents driving to school tomorrow - Heber Road is extremely icy so please be careful!
  13. I normally cycle whatever the weather, including snow, but gave it a miss today because of ice. Someone in my office rode in today sticking to main roads only to came off just before the office! Fortunately they're only bruised but it is treacherous out there and will get worse when the temperatures drop this evening.
  14. Just wondering that myself! Seem to have stopped now...
  15. Me and the missus frequent there often for food, especially for the Sunday roasts. Do not have a single compliant and highly recommend it.
  16. I ride from ED to Fulham every day regardless of the weather or time of year. It's about 7.5 miles and takes me on average 30mins, 25mins if the traffic lights are green! I usually go herne hill/brixton/clapham common/clapham junction/wandsworth roundabout/fulham or if I fancy a leisurely ride i'll take the cycle network from brixton to clapham junction through the common. Only ever had one major accident when a car pulled an illegal left as I flew past! Other than that I usually encounter, on a daily basis, stupid drivers who have a complete disregard for cyclists! Only last night I had a driver clip me with his wing mirror whilst driving past me on Village Way at stupid speed. When I caught up with him at the lights and pointed out that he clipped me he threaten to kill me! Nothing like friendly drivers!
  17. So Frisco... Am I correct in saying that the reason the children who have been dysfunctional, violent, aggressive and thuggish in east dulwich of late have done this at no fault of their own? That their lives are so chaotic that they have a compulsive desire to rob people of their ?100 Ipods, which apparently is the victims fault for falling foul of the commercial world we live in! Could it not be, as already mentioned, that these kids are bored, have no parental support and think that they can 'get away with it'! In fact I wouldn't be surprised if their parents aren't kicking the kids out into the street or waiting round the corner for them to return with Ipods! Adults will certainly inform their children actions, so whether its an adult or a child being thuggish, either is unacceptable! As a cyclist, anyone jumping lights, riding on the pavements, thank you for giving us cyclists who abide by the rules a bad reputation! I have been knocked off a few times, but that still does not give me the right to break the law!!
  18. Jessie, I guess I am just sick and tired of hearing about the youth of today terrorizing people and most of them getting away with it due to the loop hole in the law preventing action due to their age. (this is my opinion, not a statement) I wish I knew what could be done to solve this problem. Perhaps a day out in Brixton prison to show them what life is like on the other side might help! As for whether this is on the increase or not, why is it that in the last 2 weeks or so, there has been a sudden spate of trouble in ED? You tell me if this suggests it's on the increase?
  19. oh please! how many attacks have there been recently? and what is there to say that this won't increase! regardless of knowing what happened it would appear that this type of behavior is on the increase and what will it take till this changes... there's already someone who has been hospitalized, a young women who has been attacked. are we meant to sit back and only pass judgment when it suits us??
  20. i think its time the youth of east dulwich get what they deserve! why should a group of 16 year olds be able to cause pain, terrorise and torment people who work hard and pay taxes to give these kids an education that is clearly thrown back in our faces. may be it will take one of these to kids to be badly hurt in order to get the message through their thicks skulls that what they are doing is wrong!
  21. I haven't come across property marking before. Do the studs look similar to this? http://www.specialpaving.co.uk/tpstuds.html There are different types on the market.
  22. Not 100% sure but it could be that the studs are added to make the pavement slabs tactile.
  23. Evening All. Just watched the episode and was very impressed. As an architect it is great to see excellent use of an interesting plot, unique design which had not been compromised and the determination of a developer to achieve and deliver their vision. The use of cedar in such large quantities could have been over powering but with the careful balance of the massing and the clean lines have helped soften the impact. Anyways that's enough of the design critique. Well done to all involved. It's nice to see some modernity in East Dulwich.
