Child Benefit ........2013
plimsoul replied to duchessofdulwich's topic in The Family Room Discussion
well chantelle you can chose to not get it, opt out. i for one rely on it but i'm not at all surprised with the move by the current administration. -
these are much clearer than the pics put through the door, does anyone know what they are suggesting will happen to all the cars that use the car park? thanks jeremy, if i get the time i will pursue but work is nuts...

i too couldn't make it but am very interested. recently the cage has been increasingly used by some people who seem to be playing a version of bike polo, if that makes sense. it's been really good to see more people using it, but if there's an opp to get it into better shape. however, i don't understand, do the plans that they posted through the door represent an extension across the whole stretch from car park to abandoned block? surely that would be totally out of character and take out a load of trees. it seemed odd that no actual map was included in the invite but instead a digital image of the design and some addresses that didn't mean anything to me (i only moved in over 5 years ago). this was why i wanted to attend but with 2 kids it was not an option. i have posted before about the abandoned block but in now way want to lose play space or trees etc... therefore any feed back anyone? thanks.

Expecting twins, is anyone else?
plimsoul replied to tdunbavin's topic in The Family Room Discussion
forgot to say it's a baby and toddler meet up on tuesdays. have fun! when my 2 were 3 years old i was hooked up with an expecting mum and we have built a great friendship up over the past 2 years. as i mention above it's key having people who understand your unique take on the experience. again congratulations! -

definitely the local twins club. i had twins and without the club i would never have met the support network of mums who really understood what i was going through. it's a great club with a toddler group, park meet ups, social events in the evenings for parents and annual events such as summer picnic and xmas party. along with a newsletter, new website currently being designed, a dedicated support network and other one off events it is a local gem. yes, i was a member and as the poster says above i still keep in touch with many of the mums that i met. congratulation and all the best. -

Good Nursery's and Schools in SE22
plimsoul replied to charlotte endacott's topic in The Family Room Discussion
i'm in for dog kennel hill and lyndhurst on grove lane. highly recommend triangle of properties bromar/ivanhoe/grove hill. all se5 so get more for your money even though you're still using ED as your local high street plus you're close to the station. my kids were at DKH nursery now full time in reception, you need to apply for state nurseries via southwark applications, you can find info online. my sister has her children in the early years centre on camberwell grove and although it's great i sadly know that the waiting list is epic. good luck to you all. -
Recommended photographer to snap 3 children

nick tucker photography: http://www.nicktuckerphotography.com/home/?children don't think that it gets much better than this... -
grandma's house is absolute classic, the 3rd episode when the sister goes to church to see the priest to get her son in the school is still my fave one so far. i agree simon is actually the worst actor in it but the rest of them are brilliant. i also have to admit that i actually prefer it to the royle family but for my sins i did enjoy vexed.

i love my iphone, find emails super easy but as has been mentioned above i work with macs and have macs at home so it all made sync sense. also i'll admit that i've not tried any of the other 'smart' phones. one thing is for sure, mac products are not something that people just have/don't particularly like. it would appear that they inspire as much love as they do pure hate.

Solidarity instead of smugness please

i think perfect mums are like toxic mums, they just make the rest of us feel like we're not getting something. sod them, what's the point of friendship if discussion isn't a 2 way street: where ever and what ever nothing is perfect in life. -
true, 6:50 was when i gave up pretending that i was asleep...
-
woke me up at 6:50 , i thought it was a bust maybe? but i can't believe it was the same incident as we're in camberwell? surely the noise wouldn't have travelled that far?

having read the best friends guide during my pregnancy i would say that yes this is a great list but the bath section can all go except that a baby bath is useful. i only say this due to our times of economic need and also on an environmental 'tip' does the world really need another bath thermometer? most helpfully the average baby monitor now tells you the temp in the room too... again, i only say this as i remember feeling under a lot of pressure to buy loads and in the end realised that the most important things are nappies, baby wipes, baby grows, muslin squares, non bio washing stuff, push chair, car seat, somewhere for baby to sleep (ha ha, that is not your bed, right!) and a bouncy chair type affair to put baby in whilst awake! steriliser and bottles if you're going to bottle feed (i did) and sin of sins dummies! that was about it as a baby can ultimately be changed pretty much anywhere around your house, can use small towels that you already own and ebay can cater for the rest. so that was my budget version... unfortunately sleep does not come bottled ;)

wildlife centre on marsden road? -
louisa you have never changed your tune. whether i agree with it or not i don't care but you are a returning breath of fresh air and it's true, people were wetting themselves over a waitrose, i still wouldn't mind one but who cares? as for the forum being an asset...i'm prouder of the adventure bar.

Pregnant woman smoking down Lordship lane!
plimsoul replied to Ligaturiosity's topic in The Family Room Discussion
do people consider drinking less bad? i am always shocked by people who drink or smoke when pregnant but somehow it seems socially acceptable to have a glass. i agree it's clearly not good to smoke and personally would not have said anything but i actually respect you for caring. just like it is her right to spark up so it is yours to tell her what you think...to a sensible degree (whatever that is). i think 'attacking' is quite a strong thing to call it... ultimately everyone should stop smoking cigarettes full stop but that's a whole other conversation... -
anybody going to the street party on sunday....
plimsoul replied to boxboyuk's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
ivanhoe road was a great one, just got back. thanks to all who organised it, the quiz questions were great, the cakes fantastic and more and more. hopefully we can all repeat it next year. -
i'm there with english passengers, absolute classic could not recommend it more highly. any of the recent julian rathbones for historical fiction william boyd restless, female spy. daughter discovers mums past...i am about to start his new one thunderstorms (can't remember full title) and i am assured that this too is a page turner. any of the aurelio zen italian detective novels are hilarious by dibden. just finished cosi fan tutti and his description of life in naples and the corruption is fantastic.

Roughly how much and when should a 2 week old sleep?
plimsoul replied to littleEDfamily's topic in The Family Room Discussion
with quids, no child is the same. the word average cannot, in my not professional opinion, be applied to babies or parenthood!
