Well they won't be coming from other side of peckham any more as furthest distance offered so far this year for charter is 1,100 metres, we live under 2000 metres away and didn't get a place seems that you practically have to live next door to get in!

We have been given harris boys last on our list. Wanted charter live within furthest distance offered last year but not got in. Didn't get any of our first 4 choices. Not happy atall. -
We've got the white ikea metal ones have had them for 5 years and they look great and still going strong with two boys in them! Don't find them noisy, you welcome to have a look if u like we are on lordship lane. K

Hi I had elective c section with baby no 2 & 3 after very traumatic first birth. I would really recommend Leonie Penner at Kings who did my c section & understood why I was traumatised by first birth. Pm me if u need any more info.

As you were > asked on many occasions at the time this junction > was being tinkered with, why have you never > supported a pedestrian crossing at this junction? Totally agree Brand new guy, the small changes have not made enough of a difference at the above junction it's a lethal Place to cross the road. I have lost faith in how to get these changes made, we have a real issue on the bit of lordship lane where we live - further up beyond the library with dangerously speeding cars but despite many requests to a whole range of different people we have made no headway even after pedestrians have been hit. -
It's been said time & time again, a Harris primary is going into the old East Dulwich police station, there are other Harris schools nearby too. Local residents overwhelmingly want a secondary school on the hospital site NOT a Harris Nunhead primary school - it makes NO sense. I too, have had enough of James Barbers double speak on this subject. Listen to what local people are saying. Secondary school yes, Harris primary on the same site NO.

James, the section I am talking about is on Lordship Lane.

Vintage slumber, I agree with you we are also on Lordship Lane tho a bit further up than you beyond the library there is a real problem with cars speeding along this stretch to make the lights at the junction of Barry road & Eynella, especially in the evening or at times when there is less congestion. I accept that we live on a busy main road & in our case we can't afford to move to a quieter one! But the speeding really worries me. I have raised this with James Barber before & would welcome action to help solve this problem.

I think this sounds good too but the 3.30 time is hard to make if you are picking up older children from school at 3.30

Review of local polling stations, including Heber School
keane replied to redjam's topic in The Family Room Discussion
Yes but surely it's better not to close a school when there are other church halls, venues available locally. -
Would just like to give a recommendation for Magic Moments nursery in Bew house on the Lordship Lane estate, they have a few spaces at the moment as older children moved on in September to school. My youngest started there in July & she really loves going. It works if you are at home & need a bit of child free time to get stuff done as they just do two and a half hours from 9.45 to 1215 and it costs ?10 a session. Lynda the lady who runs it is lovely & I have found them to be very caring & great with my 2 year old. Not sure if they have a website but just wanted to let people know in case the set up would work for any forum users. K

Beauty stuff there is good as the beauty section is run by the lady who used to be in Singhara by the library but has now set up on her own in Linda's, think her name is Som & I always found her very good for massages, waxing etc.

Your combo of kids are approx same age as my 3 & one London day out that seems to suit all Of them is 176 bus to Waterloo then a walk along southbank where there is plenty to see for all of them, lunch in a wagamama or similar near Foyles books & a look at what's on in the royal festival Hall, gallery space etc.

The trouble with getting there at 8 in morning with other children is that u are also trying to get them fed & ready & take them to school it's just a crazy system at DMC. I still can't get an appointment for today despite calling at 8 again this morning & queuing on phone. They are now suggesting I go to seldoc tonight with my 6 year old who now has temp of 39.6 and I've been trying to get him an app at DMC since last Tuesday.
-
I have been trying for a week to get an appointment for 6 year old child with ear ache & bad chest, they say they have nothing & to ring at 8, have been ringing at 8 & holding for ages & ages not easy with baby & other children to get up & out at that time of the morning. Yesterday was told again they had nothing & will now try seldoc out of hours tonight to see of I can get him seen in case he needs an antibiotic. I can see why so many people end up In A & E unnecessarily if they can't get an app with Gp.

James - as I said earlier - yes Heber are allowed to use the Alleyns field ONCE a year. They have also been asking for 6 years if they can use it more frequently, the answer has ALWAYS been no. I can provide you with detailed information if you would like to know more.

This playgroup is in camberwell rather than east dulwich but I found it a real help when my first baby and started going when he was 6 months & have since been back with all of my 3. It's called little fishes & is in the church hall on camberwell grove, you can get a bus (185,176,40) up the hill & get off by dog kennel hill school & walk down & it's on on Wednesday mornings from 1015-1145, there is a nice baby area & a cup of tea for adults & juice & biscuit for children as they get a little older. In the early days when I was at home with first baby I found it helped me get a little bit of structure into my week in those first few months when all is a bit confusing!

I love it, it brightens up a drab section of road & I much prefer it to the creepy fly/bee thing on the wall behind the plough which I really resent seeing every morning!
-
Yes london mix, that is correct. They haven't really got any space to expand as they are packed tightly into a residential road.
-
They didn't build over their playing areas.
-
Yes the school have been exploring other avenues. But the space exists already across the road & Alleyns could be nicer about it as part if their charitable status/community outreach etc etc! It isn't Heber's fault they don't have any space the school is on the middle of a residential road & can't expand beyond its footprint.
-
Heber approached Alleyns as their nearest school for the primary school children to walk to. It makes more sense, they are five minutes down the road and barely use the field I mentioned in the week or those 2 tennis courts. I am not 'sniping' at Alleyns though, merely stating fact.

I think this is an interesting piece on charitable status of private schools: http://www.theguardian.com/education/2013/oct/07/private-schools-charitable-status-reform
-
What are their 'fruitful' partnerships with local state schools then?! They won't have anything to do with the numerous requests from Heber primary as one of their nearest neighbouring state primaries!
-
I would really like to see the exact breakdown of the 6 and a half million this year received by the beneficiary schools from the Dulwich Estate to see if all the money in fact does get used to fund scholarships.
