That's part of the problem you don't always see them do it! Unless you sat there with a camera - we get to school at 8.40 in the mornings & the fresh piles of dog poo are already there suggesting that these particular dog owners are walking their dogs early when they know there aren't wardens or many people around.
-
So predictable as soon as anyone dares mention dog shit on the pavement first mate adds in the chicken bone litter argument & the danger to dogs. no litter is good - no one should drop litter. but I would rather pick up litter than other people's dog shit. This morning outside Heber Primary school there were 3 more big piles of dog mess right outside the main gates on Heber road and on Jennings Road.

The guy who runs the flower shop in the village has direct experience of this type of behaviour from the estate & it's worth hearing his experience if u are ever down that way.

What are the figures for Southwark children attending kingsdale then Landsberger? as I have children there and they have met a lot of children who are from Southwark though I don't have figures - and lots from other places to and it feels like a really good mix of kids from different areas and backgrounds in the true sense of a state school. My point is that to get into Charter these days you need to live less than 1,600 metres from the school that's not very far and hence the catchment area is increasingly limited to those who can afford housing in dulwich Village area. I think it's good to have another secondary school who take from a much broader area.
-
Lots of children also cycle to Kingsdale James and get trains. There is also lots of very expensive housing near to kingsdale as there is to Charter. At Charter it is often those who can afford to rent or buy in the ever shrinking catchment area that get in, buying a house in catchment for charter is becoming the 'few' to get into a state school! At least at kingsdale not every child has to live right next to the school to get in, maybe this balances out the fact that Charter does its admissions on distance.
-
No James I don't agree - look at charter that is distance based and the catchment has shrunk dramatically and those that can afford to move near the school can get in but those living over 1,600 metres away this year couldnt get a place. At least with Kingsdale the lottery means that children have a chance of going to a good school but don't have to live right next to the school in another expensive area! I think if Charter do their admissions on distance then the lottery system at kingsdale at least gives other children a chance.

Who are these landlords? Do u think local or remote? Those increases seem so prohibitive to local business.

Dog mess all over Amott, Gowlett and Keston roads

The post is about dog mess! Maybe grok won't mind if the dog owners who don't pick up just let their dogs shit outside his house. -

Point is it shouldn't be there in first place. You own a dog should equal you pickup it's crap rather than leave it on the floor. It's anti social behaviour. -
This person is a vunerable adult definitely not an undercover criminal!

moving with school age children... scared! Advice please!
keane replied to HannahSE23's topic in The Family Room Discussion
We too are facing a big move to Scotland due to a change of job - I've lived in London for most of my life & I'm Anxious about the changes for my older child - I have an 11 year old son a 7 year old & a 3 year old. I think it will be smoother for my 2 younger ones but the eldest is at secondary school & doesn't want to move - does anyone have experience of a big move with this age child? He's in year 7 at secondary school? k -
It did happen at the end of the day not in afternoon break. Unless we know all the facts - which aren't currently known in their entirety it is very easy to make snap judgements about the school failing. How easy would it be to spot a child wearing the school Uniform from entering the school at the end of the day when there are pupils everwhere for example? Is any school totally safe I would argue that most of them aren't. A boy was found with a knife recently at another local secondary, it could have easily happened at another school too.
-
What a ridiculous generalisation yard, conversely I live in the area too & find the vast majority of students polite & well behaved. I'm sure there is a mix of behaviours at most secondary schools state or private.

HSBC Dulwich Branch Is Closing

I use hsbc on lordship lane regularly to pay in cheques. Also sometimes have needed to go & sort out problems with acc face to face & not everyone in the world wants to do all their banking online! So now to pay in cheques U can't go to your local bank, for me that is a loss. -
former East Dulwich councillor - how can I help?
keane replied to James Barber's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
The stretch of lordship lane I sm referring to definitely falls into the category of heavy fall due to size of the trees but I haven't seen leaf clearing up this way for a couple of weeks. K -

keane replied to James Barber's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
Yes I would rather the money was spent on street cleaning than lights not that my opinion particularly matters & you are obviously being sarcastic but if you saw the depth of leaves along the stretch of road I am referring too you would realise it does need clearing & bagging. -

Has James answered the question about the leaves yet? Lordship Lane from court lane to the library on the library side of the pavement is totally covered in thick leaves from the huge trees on that part of the lane, my daughter slipped & fell today as couldn't see that three was a tree root breaking through pavement underneath all the leaves & cut Her forehead open on some gravel. I sweep up outside our house but can't do the whole section of this part of the lane as the leaves are huge & need bagging up. K -

keane replied to devsdev's topic in The Family Room Discussion
Kings has a good orthotics dept you can get a referral through your GP. Also fitter feet in Clapham are good but private so obviously costs involved. feel free to pms if u need more details I have 3 children with hyper mobile joints who wear orthotics. -
Whistable - one hour 25 mins from Victoria nice to walk around, beach in the town & good fish & chips & a bowling ally/inside swimming pool if it's raining.

A question for Villa School parents of boys
keane replied to j-mo's topic in The Family Room Discussion
I'm sure you can just get a plain blue geox trainer? Merlin shoes in crystal Palace stock geox too. I think you will find as long as its navy they won't be that strict once you get there. -
Not what I was saying atall - was trying to state exactly the opposite - that Otta said 'parents' and I was saying that of course parents or non parenys or anyone else of course can be nightmares! I want the opposite of an us and them culture. Think the thread on the main forum has just turned into a parent bashing thread which is a bit sad. The same thing happens with dogs sometimes - it's not the dogs it's the owners.

And whilst most parents are perfectly reasonable, there are some (probably a small number, but they stand out) really really selfish entitled arseholes out there who seem to think the world should fit their agenda rather than them fitting in to the society they live in. Or to put another way.... And whilst most non parents are perfectly reasonable, there are some (probably a small number, but they stand out) really really selfish entitled arseholes out there who seem to think the world should fit their agenda rather than them fitting into the society they live in.
