  1. Hi HeidiHi and Claribel. I posted on Linzkg's thread, but just a quick summary. I was in the same situation. I had two ECV attempts that didn't work and tried every other option to turn baby under the sun. In the end I agreed to book a planned c-section but only after a certain date (in my case, 10 days overdue....I was hoping for a natural breech birth). 10 days overdue came (not a twinge - stubborn breech babe was not budging - not turning and not planning to come out!) and I had my planned c-section and it was a lovely experience, though not what I hoped for. I was adamant about not letting them book me in for a section at 38 weeks just because they wanted the convenience of scheduling their surgeries. So maybe you can choose a date where you are happy to go with a planned section and then if you end up there, make it as pleasant as possible? We had a birth plan for the c-section, which included having the curtain pulled down so we could see him be delivered, playing our own playlist on the IPOD, etc., etc. Though I wish I could have had my water home birth, I feel like I tried every possible thing to avoid the c-section and when it was inevitable, I feel like I at least had some control over it. Word of warning...my breech baby was stubborn in the womb and is no less so now that he's a bouncing, bubbly 7 month old! He is a handful already.
  2. Hi all, One of our ginger tabby cats has gone missing from St Aidans Road, near the junction with Underhill. Photo attached. He is quite a big cat and very stocky (i.e. fat). He is microchipped and has a collar with our mobile number on it. He has been known to go into other houses through the cat flap (cheeky), so perhaps he has found someone to feed him nearby! If anyone sees him, please let me know. We miss him, as do his feline brothers! Alieh
  3. Not sure if this counts as ED, but the Dulwich Wood House was open last year on Christmas Day - you could call to check if it is the same this year. We had planned to walk there through Cox's Walk but then it pissed rain all day so we didn't end up going.
  4. I have never had a bad coffee at Jack's on Pellatt Road. Just across from the Magnolia/Magdala pub? Kind of funny hours but they're usually open 10-4 Mon-Sat I think.
  5. I agree with others that it would be great if someone could replicate the general "vibe" of Inside 72. More of a bar than a pub, but not a bouncers/sparkly top kind of bar...something a bit more relaxed. The kind of place you go to start off an evening, and then end up staying because the atmosphere is so good! The problem with Inside 72 for me was that unless you got one of the few tables, you couldn't go in with a group because there was really nowhere to stand around the bar (obviously a function of it being a very small space!). Cities like New York and Toronto seem to have lots of these types of places -- small bars, good beer and good simple cocktails, quiet and chilled enough to chat over a drink, but loud and busy enough to make a night of it. Cafe Kick in Clerkenwell might be an example of this (or at least the last time I was there a few years ago)? Though definitely more a function of music and who goes there as Cafe Kick is nothing special to look at (unless you're into table football, of course). My two cents anyway!
  6. Well being pregnant myself, I don't tend to seek out e-coli ridden foods, no! But I'm as happy eating a green pepper or cucumber from a Rye Lane stall as I am from Somerfields or anywhere else. Now the pile of whole skinned lambs or goats I saw this week in a trolley outside one of the butcher shops on Rye Lane, not so much my thing...pregnant or not!
  7. Hi Chantelle, We recently moved from E. Dulwich being our local station to Peckham Rye (though I get a bus from Rye Lane for a few stops up to St Aidans Road area) and I really prefer it! The transport links are so much better, as you already know, and the shops on Rye Lane are so good for grabbing practical things on the way home. Khan's store on Rye Lane is amazing and open late. And there are lots of fresh fruit and veg stalls with great prices - I don't miss having to stop at Somerfield for my last minute dinner essentials. There are some beautiful looking streets behind the station - can't comment on the general vibe walking around there late at night alone because I haven't done it. You could also consider the streets across from Peckham Rye park - I was worried that the bus from outside the Herne pub to Peckham Rye would be a pain, but it is really really easy. Much easier than the bus from Lordship Lane to Denmark Hill (more frequent buses, less traffic). I don't think I have ever waited longer than 5 minutes for a bus and it is just a few stops to the station. On the way home you can take almost any bus that comes along Rye Lane (63,363,197,12). Having Peckham Rye park so close is also a real bonus. Good luck! Alieh
  8. In defense of ESPH, our membership is ?60/month (I think if 2 people join together that is what it works out to?). That is a ?20 premium on the goose green gym, which to me is worth it -- clean, not busy, equipment in good condition, really nice shower facilities. And a ?13 premium on the Brockwell Lido, which for me is worth it for proximity to my house. Think you're right in that if you're not looking for classes, it may not be worth the money for you. For someone who does yoga or pilates classes regularly, it probably does make sense to join as most one-off classes I have seen elsewhere are ?15-?20/class. I know the physio angle does seem like a gimmick, but it was incredibly useful to have the 1.5 hour session with a physio when I joined (I didn't expect it to be) as they tailored an exercise programme specific to me. I like ESPH and I generally hate gyms!
  9. I have just sent a note through the weblink -- I agree about the need for better bus access and was just thinking the same as I walked from Honor Oak to St Aidans Road this afternoon.
  10. My favourite things about Inside 72 are the music and the Lowenbrau. Lowenbrau the new owners can keep, but I fear the music playlists will leave with the current owners? Such a loss to the neighbourhood!
  11. Hi EarlyTowers....this sounds great! Request for vintage handbags and shoes please! The EDWarehouse is a great concept, but I always forget about it. Maybe some more signage on Lordship Lane to remind me to pop in when I am up that way on a Saturday?
  12. This looks great! Really looking forward to it....Thanks for bringing this to ED Sue!
  13. Really don't lose hope! We couldn't believe our cat appeared (via posters/door to door flyers) 5 weeks after going missing (and this after never leaving our garden for more than 30 minutes previously).
  14. Mattham, Very much with you on the crazy driving of the postal vans on Pellatt. Now how about the fact that they also often drive up to the sorting station at 4:30 AM, open both doors of the massive truck, put the radio on at full blast, and shout back and forth to each other (with liberal use of expletives) on the sidewalk? Haven't heard this for a couple of weeks, mind, but it has woken us up countless times in the last year! Alieh
  15. I would be happy to get involved with this. One thing we learned in our "missing cat" episode is that there are a lot of people who leave food out for neighbourhood cats. This could be part of the reason why so many E.D. cats go missing for long periods of time -- they have no reason to find their way back home to be fed!
  16. Thanks Pickle. We had great luck putting up posters and most importantly putting flyers through loads of doors, even further away than you think your cat would go (ours ended up nearly 5 streets away from ours). We did another round of flyers through doors near where there was a sighting last week, and even 5 weeks after he went missing that is what led us to finding him - thanks to calls from kind neighbours! Keep up hope!
  17. I am happy -- and surprised! -- to report that 5 weeks after going missing Lots has been found! Thank you so much to everyone who watched out for him and helped us find him. He ended up in a back garden around Landells and Gooderich, and looks very well cared for so maybe has been living with a surrogate family. Thanks again for all the help from people on this Forum, and hoping that all the other missing cats find their way home too. Alieh
  18. -- moved topic --
  19. Thanks again for everyone's comments and support - unfortunately Lots is still missing and his brother Wool is very sad. Hopefully he will find his way home soon.
  20. Hi there, We have lost a cat - he went missing last Wednesday. He is a ginger tabby - we have a posting on the forum right now with his photo. If the tabby is ginger please call Ed at 07950 517 200. Many thanks, Ed and Al
  21. Thanks everyone for your suggestions. We are very sad that he is still missing. But you never know...maybe he will still turn up.
  22. Thanks lozzyloz. Unfortunately still no sign of him. If anyone in the Pellatt/Silvester/Rodwell/Crystal Palace Road area could still check their gardens we would be grateful. My husband's mobile is 07950517200. Two very distraught cat owners!
  23. Hi everyone, Our ginger cat seems to have disappeared after escaping out the front door on Pellatt, at the post office end. Photo attached. He has a dodgy back leg so we're worried he might be hurt or trapped somewhere. If anyone in the immediate area could check their gardens/garages/sheds and let us know of any sightings, we would be very grateful! Alieh
  24. Glad to hear that at least a few people have noticed a change too. It's not enough noise to change your life, but just interesting that it seems to have come out of nowhere. Thanks for the aviation insights, BarryRoad! If you come up with any evidence about what has changed -- apart from weather and Foxtons-related espionage -- I would be interested to hear more!
  25. Is it just me or is there suddenly a huge increase in the air traffic noise in East Dulwich? I moved over a year ago, but have only noticed this in the last couple of months. Either I have been living under a rock for 12 months or something has changed in the flight paths!? Anyone else notice the same?
