Our local police team - Goose Green ward
EDNate replied to bels123's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
Don't have time to attend this meeting. How about some action / recognition of the criminal gang operating on Upland / Friern road where multiple family 4 x 4s have been stolen just this week. -

I have installed additional cameras. What baffles me is how easy it must be for them to sell the cars on the black market. That must be where the authorities focus their efforts. One would assume they are taken out the country on shipping containers. -
Stolen car from on Upland Road on Tuesday evening 7/1/20
EDNate replied to Oneredfish's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
I'm so sorry to hear that, our Land Rover was also taken from Upland road on new years day. Police have got no clue. It's clear as day whats happening in our area. Our car was taken in broad daylight. -

Luckily we have a tracker and quickly retrieved it ourselves. The car was taken and dumped on the corner of Court Lane and Druce Road. It is a family 4x4 with keyless entry. The keys are kept in a (tested and working) RFID blocking pouch when not in use. This means the thieves likely waited to intercept the signal when the keys were used by us, and probably then able to clone it to obtain access. We usually have a stop-lock, but unfortunately left it off this night by mistake. Please remain vigilant all !

Did anyone just hear a gunshot ring out?
EDNate replied to rimi_monster's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
Yes I heard it last night. I am on Upland Road. I was dozing off and it made me jump up in bed. -
You've got no problem with Divali fireworks I assume , or end of Eid ? I also assume you wouldn't make such a comment about those for fear of not being PC. There are people of many nationalities and cultures in British society. Americans as well. I agree 10pm is quite late, but it is summer and it gets dark very late doesn't it.

Dulwich & Herne Hill Quiet Skies Campaign
EDNate replied to SUT's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
I've signed you petition, but feel it would be valuable to get more information. Do you have any statistics or information comparing London to that of other comparable large cities in the world? What is the situation in New York, Paris, Chicago Tokyo ? Do those cities have large residential areas that suffer from the levels of air and noise pollution we face in London and in particular Dulwich ? -

Thanks for the feedback and posting those helpful references, I was unaware of this guidance. I strongly but respectfully disagree with your statement that dogs can unintentionally scare off nesting birds and pose a threat to wildlife. If the birds are at ground level, then the local foxes and roaming outdoor cats are much more of a threat than my little fur ball ! Perhaps there is more to the story though.

I think that's the right approach. I will keep mine off the lead unless instructed otherwise, until the signs have changed.

I think there might be signs at the very bottom of the hill, but they are all over Dulwich Park as well, and few dog owners follow the rule there. I would react to any "dog enforcement officer" with exactly those questions. It's not as if my little fluff ball has a registration number so I am a bit confused as to what these bozo's with cameras would do. Anyone who has been confronted by them please share your story !

Abe_froeman Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > "clear up your dog's mess and keep them on a > lead" > > https://www.southwark.gov.uk/parks-and-open-spaces > /parks/dawson-s-hill I'd not seen that page before, thanks for the reference. The following comment is directed at the rule, and not yourself. While the page clears up my question regarding the rule, I think this is a huge shame. A nature reserve should be enjoyed by local families and their pets. If the dog is not on the dangerous dogs list and is a family pet, my kid should be able to play fetch with her in our local public park. Certainly not as if Dawsons hill has landscaped gardens dogs could ruin. On the dog mess point..... I'm not sure I agree with the assumption that a dog being on a lead prevents an irresponsible dog owner ( not me - always have pickup bags) to start picking up the mess. If they don't care and the dogs gotta go, then the lead won't change anything.

My partner was just walking our golden retriever up Dawsons hill, and was told by someone coming down that there are people taking photos on the hill to fine people 100? if walking their dogs off the lead. Is this an existing or new rule ? If an existing rule has anyone encountered these dog police before? I imagine them jumping out of bushes with huge camera lenses or sitting on top of the Dawsons estate snapping with sniper lenses. We have lived in the area for one year. I don't know if I have unknowingly been playing fetch "illegally" or there is a new rule, but this saddens me as one of my favorite things to do is play fetch with our dog up there. I know there are irresponsible owners and dangerous dogs out there, but it seems sad that responsible dog owners with statistically harmless breeds should lose out on a beautiful local public space financed by our extortionate council tax. Thoughts ? (p.s. I mean no offence to anyone that has had bad experiences with off the lead dogs, I have been a victim myself in years past)

As a resident of Upland road I would have expected a notification. Assume if it was emergency that they are not required to notify us?
-
Yeah I have had mine go out as well

I had the same. Ordered myself a replacement credit card after min expired. Card took a while to come then noticed a load of transactions in Peckham area (Nandos,Primark,Sports Direct, Petrol stations). Credit card refunded everything, but clearly someone in the post office had taken the card out and gone on a contactless shopping spree. Obviously you do not need to activate a new contacless card at an ATM with your card. - this I do not understand as it would solve the problem. Police were utterly useless "we have no evidence". Royal mail were fairly good and apologetic and said they would investigate, but we got no follow up or conclusion.

Hello, I would like to create this new post rather than add to the lengthy CPZ threads, however this is indeed in relation to the CPZ proposals. I am concerned that incorrect assumptions and statistics may be used to make decisions, and post this purely to create debate. The CPZ proposal for parking to free up parking spaces seems to partly be based on the conclusion that residents who cycle and walk spend more on the high street, and should therefore be prioritised. http://content.tfl.gov.uk/walking-cycling-economic-benefits-summary-pack.pdf There a few assumptions made within this that I take issue with. 1) "Over the course of a month, people who walk to the high street spend up to 40% more" - TFL Study 2013 I have not read the full content of the TFl study, but are we confident about this statistic ? Maybe the people who drive to the high street ("and spend less") would spend considerably more if it was easier to park ? Hence the proliferation within the UK of American style "strip" malls/ shops where large stores are built with large car parks. Convenience prioritization. 2) "People who walk and cycle take more trips to the high street per month" - TFL Study 2014. I have not read the full content of the TFL study, but how can we be sure that there are not "more" car drivers overall, and therefore that the net contribution to the high street by a larger number of car drivers is higher ? e.g. 3 cyclists spend 20? on average per month, whereas 100 car drivers spend 19? / month ? I am a 40 minute round trip from the top end of LL, so sometimes park off the high st on a residential road. I am sure those in Forest Hill / West Dulwich visiting LL may do the same. If they cannot park, are we sure this will have a net economic benefit to our high street ? Are we in danger of inflicting self harm to promote an idealistic vision of our high streets ? Sounds like Brexit to me... -Nt

Lordship lane roadworks - closure 18-30 November
EDNate replied to annafb's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
Would be nice if they sent us all a letter especially when closing bus stops. But we probably wouldn't receive it anyway as it would get stuck in Peckham sorting office for 9 years. -

If you ask nicely I'll share it with you. -

Let's all just give all of our money to TFL and have them take us to work on horse and cart because complaining or comparing to other large first world cities would be wrong? -

Missing post since sorting office moved to peckham
EDNate replied to nina_maniana's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
I have had a replacement credit card intercepted and within 3 days they've done about 10 transactions on contactless in Peckham primark, Nando's and petrol stations ! Danger to everyone avoid this post office if you can ! Will be reporting to police -

Right but this post is specifically for those of us in the lower parts of ED where walking up to GG for the 37 would take us 20+ minutes and then 30+ minutes on that bus to get to victoria and yet again we are looking at over an hour !
