  1. "round here" - ish - if you are looking for somewhere to work the cinema at Goldsmiths College haa a lovely cool cafe attached to it, even larger cafe attached, is open early to late, plenty of power points and cheap tea.
  2. Would urge everyone who has had their card confiscated by the machine for the crime of being "untall" to ask for cash compensation. Who knows they might even be prompted to adjust the camera so it can actually see us.
  3. Sainsburys was built on what was at the time supposedly protected green space with public access to the whole space. How the Southwark councillors and officers swore on their very lives, at the time, that there would be no further loss of public space or access, ever. Grim to have to say this as a lifelong Labour voter but think open spaces locally were better protected under Lib Dems.
  4. Definitely avoid the machines. Especially the one facing LL if you are not tall. Took my card three times, eventually they admitted that the machine and its camera are too high up to capture the faces of smaller persons properly. So the machine decides that if it can't see your face, you must be hiding it, and up to no good, so it retains your card. Barclays has obviously known this for some time but has done absolutely nothing about it. Eventually they gave me ?25 in compensation which in no way made up for the embarrassment of not being able to give someone the cash I had just promised them! Peckham Pam, perhaps you should ask for compensation as they know this is going to keep happening.
  5. OOh yes, very good. It's the same stuff, scrunched.
  6. Iceland is currently selling 12 large juicy oranges for ?3, which leaves one with the two lots of orange netting they come in. Here is my recycling effort so far: 1. Makes excellent plant netting for seedlings - is basically the same stuff 2. A passable hair net
  7. There have always been hordes of hedgehogs at Honor Oak Rec and quite a few around Peckham Rye. The time to see them is after dark and after it has been raining, when they come out to slurp up worms. I once saw a whole line of them trundling across the Rec, looked like they were doing a police sweep.
  8. Yes stolen during move. Caught: a) a woman who had been paid to help move (not the actual moving firm) putting my property into a car of a friend who she said was there to give her a lift home; and b) a near neighbour was caught red handed by the removal co, trying to run into her flat with a 1930s chair. The removal guys were only out of sight of the van for about 20 secs at a time. Got several items back from that lovely lady - including an Ercol table, and another antique kitchen chair. Can't really say anymore. Although will mention that she does boot sales in the area. Although I had retrieved a few items from her, it seemed likely she had more that she was not admitting to but the police would not help - they refused to search her flat. I suppose removal firms will always get blamed when things are stolen during a move even though it may actually be a light fingered neighbour. This woman was very fast on her feet and I would not have believed she would have had the bare faced cheek to be running up to the removal van in broad daylight and stealing large items. If she hadn't been caught doing it I would have presumed (logically) it was the removal company! Although they were partly responsible, I booked 3 people so there would specifically be one person just covering the door and the van while the others went in and out...but they turned up with just two guys. Also stolen: unique pair of black wedge heel satin and silk 1920s sandals, highly embroidered with flowers, colours still vivid. Size 4. Small bucket chair, think it's sycamore wood - it's a blonde wood - was part of an Art Deco bedroom set (now no longer a set, of course...). Very ornate Polish box, dark wood with highly decorative enamelling and metalwork. x2 antigue dining chairs, oval tops, dark wood, blue Liberty fabric seats. Various non unique non vintage items: Dremel set, large circular saw, which was brand new, a metal 5 arm chandelier. I could go on. Reward still offered for any information leading to identification of the thief / thieves. If you have been offered any of these items for sale I would be very grateful to hear from you and confidentiality definitely and entirely respected. Thank you for reading. Natty - thanks for your message too. I have looked on ebay, didn't realise Loot was still going! But I think it is likely they may have tried to sell my stuff via boot sales or for some of the records, specialist sellers. Some of the blues records were apparently very rare, I never got round to making a list or taking pics as they had just sat on shelves for many years.
  9. They're still out there somewhere. Pls pls get in touch if you can help. Reward offered, in confidence.

  13. Thank you for alerting us to who this is, I agree, if the head of this organisation supports the vile ultra extreme views of the new Brazilian leader, Bolsonaro, I am grateful you pointed out who they are. Glad I did not give them anything. And given the origins of M + S I am very surprised they are letting this group onto their premises. Really do not feel like going in again until they are gone.
