  1. This sounds great - is it on 5th or at the weekend? Do you have to get tickets in advance or just turn up?
  2. I'm afraid that my experience of our local councillors (in the context of the primary school places issue) was extremely disappointing. My email to them asking for help was forwarded to someone else on the council but the councillors themselves did nothing else to help and showed no interest really. I know that others had similar experiences.
  3. How incredibly frustrating for you - maybe there will be some no-shows? Fingers crossed and hope to see you at GG or that you get something else satisfactory sorted out
  4. ah. Should have a knock-on effect though as people who missed out on Goodrich first time get places and free up places at other schools...it's a pity they've waited until 2 weeks before term starts to do something about it.
  5. Does anyone know how these extra places are being allocated?
  6. Hi We live very near to St John's and were offered Bessemer Grange which we hadn't put on our form. I'd never heard of it when we were offered it but when I looked round I was very pleasantly surprised. In the end we decided not to send our children there purely because of the journey but if it had been nearer I'm sure we would have gone for it. As others have said, the early years co-ordinator is really excellent. HP
  7. I know people who have found hotels or self-catering places recommended on these specialist websites, then found details (by googling etc I suppose) and booked direct, for a significantly reduced cost...may be worth a try!
  8. wow I am honoured indeed to have the nominations of such illustrious forumites. and may I take this opportunity to thank everyone for their kindred tales of drunken hilarity, they really did help the recovery process. hp xx
  9. When I was a postgrad student living back at my mum's for a bit, after a very very drunken evening she had to open the front door to me at 3 in the morning - I was attempting to open the door with a lipstick....
  10. you are very kind husband has just informed me that I left my handbag (not the lost one) (containing mobile phone, purse, various other items) on the doorstep all night. Lucky the other residents in my road don't get up very early and/or are an honest bunch.
  11. thank you chaps xxx I have made it to lunchtime! Thank goodness for this forum.
  12. BB, respect. I am loving your work.
  13. oo thanks that was good for my pathetic soul
  14. can anyone make me feel better with a tale of a bad drunken work episode??
  15. I had lost the bag before I left the restaurant and it hasn't been handed in so I am starting to suspect foul play. Ah yes, that'll be the paranoia kicking in!
  16. thank you - these responses really are helping - I need more though! have now established who put me in cab and that the first cab they tried to put me in refused to take me. Nice. Still no idea how I paid for it!
  17. thank you for the kind words. I completely have The Fear. I know I should just brazen it out but feel compelled to try and piece together events. I know that's a bad idea. WHY WHY WHY?
  18. Oh help Work Christmas party last night. Lost bag. Husband found one of my shoes in the recycling bin this morning. Cannot remember how I got home. Money was in lost bag but mysteriously found five pound note in coat pocket. Think someone must have put me in a taxi and lent me fare but have no idea who that person might be. Please advise.
  19. Denise I have sent you a PM
  20. A friend of a friend of mine was on a ski holiday and one night spotted the singer Seal in a bar. Lurched up to him, started attempt at small talk related to skiing and uttered the immortal line, "so, are you a black man?" Needless to say, the said popster just gave her an incredulous look and ran away. (NB I am not a skier myself but apparently what she meant was did he favour black runs - think that means difficult ones?)
  21. It's number 11. Our garden backs on to its garden and my first reaction was negative too but actually the house has been empty for a while, is in a very sad-looking state and it will be nice to see it smartened up and lived in again.
  22. I am entirely with Nero when it comes to litter and I can sort of see why you mentioned her apparent social status but really, "advising" her to ditch the snacks to improve her figure.....can't really see the relevance of that at all.
  23. Yep I definitely read that the winner will be chosen from the winning duo - but who knows, there may be another twist? I don't really mind who wins as long as it's not that preening pouting backstabber Alex. I am still fuming at the way he stitched Lucinda up in the boardroom last week by casually dropping in to the conversation that she had said she wasn't sure the job was right for her. So unnecessary!
