  1. The Castle, Crystal Palace Road, The Man of Kent, Nunhead Lane or The White Horse sound exactly what you are looking for.
  2. Brownies is for girls only aged 7-10. Girl guides is for 10-14 year olds. Your son should look for cubs groups or perhaps woodcraft folk if he wants to join a mixed group?
  3. The sign is great to use as a sledge if it snows!!
  4. Thumbguards definitely work. My daughter took less than two weeks to completely give up thumb sucking (at eight years old). She still needed a brace at thirteen though.
  5. Or why not go to the brand new Olympic sized ice skating rink in Streatham. It's right next to Streatham station. Check website for opening times.
  6. Google dulwich fireworks 2013 for details of Saturdays event at Dulwich Sports Club

  12. I have finally been released from my contract (with no financial penalty) after numerous telephone conversations and emails. The problem with the mast seems unlikely to be resolved any time soon.

  14. There's a new cake decorating shop at top end of Lordship Lane opposite the Harvester and a few doors from the Barcelona Bar.
  15. Hi traveller1, I booked this last week, but it's not now on the joininuk website (maybe because the course is full?) lots of other things on there to try though - for some reason you seem to have to trawl through events which have passed.
  16. There is a temporary open air swimming pool at Decathlon Surrey Quays car park. You just need to get a Decathlon store card and you can swim for free. Most Odeon cinemas hav a cheap film every day in the holidays - costs ?2.50 each - adults free (this week is Alvin and the Chipmunks Chipwrecked). If you go to www.joininuk.org there are lots of cheap free sporty things to do. My daughter is going to Crystal Palace Sports Centre on Friday 10 - 1 to try out some athletics. How about ice skating at the new rink in Brixton? - Planet Ice (behind the tube station)
  17. I'm so looking forward to this. Incidently, the first episode re Deptford High Street is being repeated on Tuesday at 11.20pm (BBC2)
  18. I loved this tv programme. Do you need to book tickets to see the tapestries or can you just turn up at the gallery? Also is there an admission charge?
  19. Fairlawn Choir will be performing there too.
  20. There is a party on Piermont Green (next to the Herne Tavern), not sure if you can just turn up and join in though!?

  24. I bought a Click it from Boots for ?5 - it gives you a tiny electric shock and should be used as soon as possible after a bite/sting. I used it yesterday after being stung by nettles and it really works - stopped all itching and swelling. It treats up to 2,000 bites.
