  1. The decorator I had pencilled in to wallpaper a wall very sadly broke his arm. Kam stood in at short notice and was very flexible with his timing when the paper arrived later than expected . He communicated brilliantly asking for pictures of the light fixtures ahead of time to anticipate any problems. The result is fantastic!
  2. I started going to tigersharks with my 9 year old about a year ago. We have both loved the chance to improve our technique and be challenged in ways I hadn’t been since I left university! Krys is exceptionally motivating and has a wonderful wry sense of humour. Although we were unlikely to send our children to Alleyn’s, it wasn’t completely out of the question. The way Krys was treated after serving the community for 27 years left me feeling very uncomfortable, and has inevitably coloured my view of Alleyn’s. Surely a school committed to its community and with strong ethical values would give someone more notice and treat them with more respect? Surely they would work with Krys to find a mutually agreeable solution before even thinking of giving him notice? It’s not too late to correct things. I do hope Alleyn’s can see that.
  3. Hi there, Our 7 year old is keen to learn the cello, but of course, we don't know how committed she will turn out to be. We don't want to buy a cello in case she doesn't really get into it after all. She already plays the guitar and will likely carry on with this at school and we don't know if she can handle two instruments. If you happen to have a 1/2 size cello lying around gathering dust and you wouldn't mind us borrowing / renting it for a while, please send me a personal message. We live just off Bellenden rd SE15. Thanks! Elsa
  4. Hi there, I have tried sending a PM to lollol but it sounds like her mailbox may be full. We live just off Bellenden Rd (se15 4AL) and I speak french to our kids (4.5 and 2.5) - I was born in London but spoke french at home / went to the Lyc?e in South Kensington. It would be great for the kids (and me!) to have more exposure to french speaking families. Elsa
  5. Hi there, my nearly 4 year old is on the waiting list for lessons at st Thomas the apostle school swimming pool. A mother told me about it during a brief encounter and I put him on the list based on very little information. I would love to hear more about people?s experience of the lessons. Thanks, Elsa
  6. Hi everyone, we lost our bugaboo bee buggy board (the one with the seat) on a train 3weeks ago. It still hasn't turned up so I'm looking to buy another second hand. Send me a message if you're interested! We live in SE15
  7. Can anyone recommend an experienced french speaking baby sitter? We live in Peckham (SE15, off Bellenden rd). We need someone next week and all our usual suspects are away on holiday! Thanks
  8. It was Lettsom gardens. Thanks so much, Elsa
  9. Hi there, we recently moved to SE15. On our first couple of days in the area, three people alluded to a gated garden / wood nearby which is apparently amazing and which you can get a key for by paying a small annual fee. Apparently it's named after a doctor who donated the land. Unfortunately I can't remember the name of the garden or find it online. Can anyone help? Thanks, Elsa
  10. Hello, Just wondering if this french group ever came together? I am moving to Peckham Rye (just off Bellenden rd) with a 1.5 year old and a 3.5 year old and keen to reinforce their French (I am French originally and I speak to the kids in French, but I was born in London so am becoming increasingly anglicized as they years go by, and my husband is Scottish). Thanks, Elsa
