Hi se22cat, thanks for your message which I?ve now informed the other administrators of the Goose Green Mutual Aid group of. Specifically on your point of residents being able to access Pecan - they switched to a mostly home delivery model a while back (4 out of 5 days this is offered for those needing their services). They also support a wide section of the borough of Southwark, so supporting them is allowing us to both support our immediate communities and others living in Southwark. We do have a solidarity fund specifically for Goose Green ward residents (https://opencollective.com/goose-green-solidarity-fund) and we?ve paid out ?150 so far to residents in need. We will look into the issue of vouchers - we are in regular contact with our ward councillors so can raise this with them as well. Thanks! Edit #1: removed a typo. Edit #2: just wanted to add and clarify that we are super keen on establishing relationships and helping out where we can across the ward and borough - so please do get in touch, we would love to hear from you :)
  4. Bumping this up as we will be doing another collection TODAY Monday 20th and at least every Monday until 11th May. We will be collecting for Pecan, the foodbank in Peckham between 12 and 3pm. Please bring your donations on down! Guidance for donors is here: https://docs.google.com/document/d/1-EL7udyoEptWqiISs2vxvOfldJMlHC8GRvbHnBrtA_8 We?ve received word from Pecan that they are in urgent need of large quantities of the following as these are the items that are going out every day: -UHT milk -UHT juice -baked beans -tinned rice pudding In addition to donations of food and toiletries, we?d also love any sturdy cardboard boxes that you might have lying around, so we have containers to transport donations easily. Please check that your name and address isn?t on the box before donating it, so we can keep your personal details safe! we?re operating our medical supplies drop off at the same time, so if you have anything to to drop off - from wrist supports to antibiotics - helping us build our emergency kit for local residents in case they are unable to access urgent care. Thank you! :)
  5. Very happy to announce that the Goose Green Mutual Aid group has now launched a solidarity fund (see: https://opencollective.com/goose-green-solidarity-fund). The fund provides assistance to Goose Green residents who are struggling financially as a result of COVID-19. This fund can be used for anything, from buying groceries to paying for prescriptions. There is neither judgement nor is there an obligation to pay back the money. This is run in direct accordance with principles of mutual aid - ?from each according to their ability, to each according to their need?. Please spread the word! x
  6. I went this afternoon - probably about a 15/20 minute wait outside and good stock levels (apart from flour, peanut butter, tinned tomatoes, dry pasta, eggs (apart from quails eggs!) and kitchen roll - all empty shelves). So many Easter eggs!

As that?s already been done by someone else, I?m happy to change the title given that someone has managed to do this.
  8. Just an update on this - we managed to donate 30 boxes of food and toiletries to Pecan today following the donation sessions. Thank you so much to everyone who supported us either in person or online :)
  9. Hi all - further guidelines for those donating can be found here: https://docs.google.com/document/d/1-EL7udyoEptWqiISs2vxvOfldJMlHC8GRvbHnBrtA_8 Please spread the world - and thank you for your support!

Hey Yorksgirl - in response to your point about the sharing of health data - I have been keeping an eye on the data protection of it all in relation to COVID-19 and with that in mind, this is from the Information Commissioner?s Office (see here: https://ico.org.uk/about-the-ico/news-and-events/news-and-blogs/2020/03/data-protection-and-coronavirus/) ? Public bodies may require additional collection and sharing of personal data to protect against serious threats to public health. The ICO is a reasonable and pragmatic regulator, one that does not operate in isolation from matters of serious public concern. Regarding compliance with data protection, we will take into account the compelling public interest in the current health emergency.? Given this, it?s reasonable to believe the public health exception is what the Govt will be leaning on as a justification for data sharing with supermarkets at this time. If it?s useful, I?m attending a GDPR & coronavirus webinar tomorrow so might have some further insight then, with the caveat that this is a fast moving and in a lot of ways unprecedented situation in terms of a pandemic occurring at a time in which we are able, more than ever, to collect and share data.
  12. Lots of stuff also at the Crystal Palace Sainsbury?s

  14. Hi folks, Hope everyone is weathering this surreal and scary time as well as they can. We?ve had a suggestion come up in the Goose Green Mutual Aid group to raise some money to buy fresh food for our hardworking NHS neighbours at Kings (modelled on this: https://www.gofundme.com/f/nhs-foodbox-fundraiser-for-st-thomas-icu?utm_medium=copy_link&utm_source=customer&utm_campaign=p_lico+share-sheet) Does anyone have a contact at Kings (or indeed works at Kings) that we can speak to about this and try and get it off the ground? Thanks so much all, your help is really appreciated. Edit: oops admin - I know that King?s isn?t in ED but we want to try and be good neighbours at this time. Hope this is ok and that you?ll allow this thread.
  15. The GG mutual aid WhatsApp is now full, but we have a newsletter! Sign up here: https://mailchi.mp/d431cd2f8f97/goose-green-mutual-aid
  16. This may be of some help - Oddbox (https://www.oddbox.co.uk/) are a London-based sustainable fruit and veg box supplier, who deliver boxes weekly and can be tailored to family size or preference (fruit only). Obvs, you only get what is surplus/'odd' so don't have control over what is delivered but it might be useful as a supply source. I've been getting them for the best part of a year now and would really recommend them - hard to say what impact COVID-19 will have but it's something.
  17. In my experience, charity shops are unlikely to have the resources to be able to wash clothes - they will typically only have a steamer. It would also be very unhygienic for them to have to process the clothes and would risk contaminating other stock. You?d basically be hoping that staff would be able to do so, which is a bit of an unfair burden - in all likelihood, they would be disposed of. Have you considered taking them to a laundrette before donating them, that way you can do more industrial quantities of cleaning? That shouldn?t take too long and then you?d know that they would be accepted!
  18. EDG Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > Bin was taken even though subscription was paid. > Has anyone else in that situation managed to get a > new bin? Not exactly the same scenario but our brown bin was swiped by a neighbour just before the new scheme began - I emailed Southwark?s environmental team (environment@southwark.gov.uk) and they sorted the delivery of a new one.
  19. I?ve had v positive experiences at 306 Medical Centre - very good at liaising with my consultant at Guys & prompt when dealing with my many repeat prescriptions.

WTF am I supposed to do now!! You may also want to email environment@southwark.gov.uk - they sorted my issue out pretty promptly.

I emailed enviroment@southwark.gov.uk to ask, attaching a photo of my sticker. Alternatively, I think some ED-ers have spares!
  22. Does anyone know how to order a new brown bin? There?s absolutely no way I can see to do it on the Southwark website and they (of course) don?t note any contact email addresses online! (Our sticker has arrived (and is being paid for by the leaseholder for our building). We did have a brown bin outside but it went walkabouts two or so weeks ago. The only way I can see online to request a new bin is to register for the service again and weirdly, I don?t fancy this!) EDIT: found the Environmental email address (environment@southwark.gov.uk) and requested one this way.
  23. Metallic Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > Don't you just hate things called Ye Olde Sweete > shop or variations on the theme? Yes, because when you see ?ye? in older documents, it was used as a contraction for ?the? (it?s known as a thorn in Palaeography). TL;DR no such word ever existed. It was always and shall forever be ?the?.

You also can use the particular press I had to make your own tofu, which I?m not quite brave enough to do yet but might help on the plastics front. I?ve just bought Bazaar by Sabrina Ghayour - her other books are great so have high hopes for this as a solely plant based one...
  25. I would second the recommendation for The Green Roasting Tin! Fresh India by Meera Sodha is also great. In terms of general advice, I?d recommend investing in a tofu press - makes tofu nice and firm allowing it to soak up flavours (and stop resembling scrambled eggs!)
