  1. I am due number 2 in January. Number 1 will be 3 in Feb, she totally understands that a baby is coming and is very excited about it. She asked a few weeks ago where the baby came out from and I explained to her, she seemed happy enough, but yesterday asked again and seemed a bit confused! Can anyone recommend a book which handles the more practical issues of child birth as well as covering becoming a big sister? Thanks

  3. Hello, Have only just seen thread....I am due number 2 middle of January and would love to meet up, unfortunately not around this weekend, but hopefully I can come along to the next one? If there are any 2nd (or more!) time mums who are around during the week, let me know if you'd fancy meeting up for a playdate, we are normally about Mon, Tues & Wed. Lou
  4. I didn't get one for first child and my back suffered, so am thinking of getting 1 for number 2. Any brands anyone would recommend? Been looking on ebay and there are quite a few, but not sure if some are better than others....
  5. I breastfed in front of Telly, until it started to become a distraction for little one. She is now 2 1/2 and allowed to watch TV after supper (Peppa Pig DVD and Bob the builder current favourites.) A friend doesn't let her child watch TV, doesn't actually own one and as soon as the child sees a TV she wants it on! It's my opinion that when you totally ban something it makes it more desirable. Another example I only gave my little one water for ages and she used to drive me mad trying everyone else's sippy cups trying to find juice. Now she has juice occasionally and the rest of the time is happy with her water. On another level, what do you think about toddlers playing "Toddler Apps" on IPhones? A good friend was saying that her toddler loves them. I felt a bit weird at first, probably because it's something that didn't exist when we were young, but since then my husband has got a IPhone and I looked into a few apps. There are loads, we have downloaded some educational ones (Touch the circle type thing). I find it incredible how quickly my daughter learns how to work them, much quicker than me! Does anyone else let their little ones play these apps?
  6. We did it recently, daughter 2 yrs & 2 months. She was still in cot, but since having new found freedom of duvet started climbing out of cot...so have had to put her into a bed...I wish I had carried on with sleeping bag!! But I guess they have to grow up at some point!!
  7. I accidentally recycled the letter about the proposed 20mph limit. Can I download it anywhere? Thanks,
  8. I know here...I'll PM you her details...
  9. I normally put her down at 1. If I do it later, wondering if it'll affect her going to bed at 7....probably worth a try though! Thanks
  10. My 19 month old, appears to want to drop her lunchtime nap. Since she was about 11months she has just had the one long nap around 1 ish, normally for 1 1/2 - 2hrs....but just recently when I put her down she spends about an hr and a half just chatting to herself. Which was fine, as I guess she is still kind of resting. But a few times now she has really resisted going into her cot. I am sure she is too young to drop this nap and am hoping if I persist with putting her down, she'll realised it's nap time!! Has anyone else experienced this at this age? What age is it normal to drop daytime sleeps? Without meaning to sound selfish I am not ready for her to drop this nap!! Any advice??
  11. He knocked on our door the other day and sold us some lovely shallots!!
  12. Thames water will come and test it for you. Had ours done and the levels were fine. You are responsible for the mains pipe going into your house, if you do want to replace it, even if lead levels are fine, they will charge about ?500 to get them to connect it to the pipe outside your house. If levels are too high I think they do if for free/cheaper. We didn't bother as levels were fine and even if you have your pipes replaced the majority of the water pipes that bring the water to your house are lead, so seems a bit pointless.
