  1. Next step it for me is figuring out how we can let our opinions be known. Any ideas?!
  2. I've sent James the link by PM. We so need another secondary school (personally happy with Haberdashers or Charter). Seems crazy to put another Harris primary, when they are building one at police station.
  3. I have just seen this: http://tessajowell.net/uploads/0061f23d-637b-d7c4-1512-ae391b392af2.pdf It suggests that Michael Gove, is trying to help Harris build the Nunhead primary school on the hospital site.... Anyone know anything about this?
  4. Thanks for all the great suggestions. The weather was so great we ended up having a day at Dulwich Park, pedalos hire bikes etc. And went to museum of childhood, which involved trains & tubes, highlight of the day! Will store up other suggestions!
  5. Hi, Our friends from Devon are up for the bank holiday weekend and I am trying to plan some "London" activities! We both have 6 & 3 yr olds Have already taken them to, Transport Museum, National History Museum, Aquarium. Any ideas appreciated! Thanks Lou
  6. James - Is there anyone we can contact at Southwark council about cycle parking. I would love somewhere to keep a bike, and am sure many others would too. Thanks
  7. Bessemer Grange nursery & reception has amazing outdoor space.
  8. What a great idea... Am going to email everyone I know and ask them to suggest my street!!
  9. I also don't think it is overpriced! I have often found things might be 50p or a ?1 more. But willing to pay to have such a lovely shop with such lovely staff.
  10. I am stuck for present ideas for my two girls (nearly 5 & nearly 2) Has anyone got any good suggestions for DVD's, Books, Board Games, Toys. Older one already has a bike & scooter. Younger not ready for these yet.... What are you buying your children!
  11. Our daughter has also been allocated a place at Bessemer. It wasn't our first choice, due to it being a 20 min walk away and our daughter already being at a closer school nursery. But we are very pleased to have got a place at Bessemer as thought it looked fantastic, when we looked around. Great outdoor space, light and airy classrooms, enthusastic staff, fantastic canteen. I'm not going on the tour today as imagine it'll be very busy! But will visit it again soon. Would love to arrange some playdates with others who are joining in September. Sanne, let us know how you get on today! Lou
  12. Guys constructing it said poles were for leapfrog
  13. I spoke to one on friday (1st July) who said they had to get it finished for 23rd July as Boris was coming to open it...
  14. I assume this is the same person I went to...I thought it was Choy...he works out of Nightgale allergy clinic...if it is the same person, I would highly recommend him. Both my husband and myself have been, me for dust allergies and husband for food allergies, discovered he was allergic to Yeast. We were both a bit sceptical, but both felt much better after taking his advice.
  15. This all makes me feel sick! My daughter will be due to start September 2012. Being 338 metres away from Heber would have been too far this year (given info from the forum that suggest 317 metres was the furthest non sibling place) I can only see the catchment reducing to account for siblings from 2010 bulge class. This means our next closest is Goose Green at 640 metres, will this be too far!? As others have said who will take a bulge class next year? Not that bulge classes are a good solution. Surely someone (I dont really care from which political party!) must have taken been looking into this. I have lived in East Dulwich for 10 years and over that time more and more people with young families / people starting familes have been moving in. Please tell me I'm not the only person to have noticed this! James / Renatta, what is the plan for 2012 intake? (sorry for those still waiting for 2011 places)
  16. James, unfortunately I am away so can't make this meeting, but am very interested about primary schools/bulge classes for 2012. Being a massive 335 metres from nearest school, Heber, we wouldn't have got in this year, but have been offered a nursery spot. Will there be any minutes taken that we'd be able to see?
  17. Hi Renata When does the new southwark primary brochure come out? Do you know who will be taking bulge classes 2012? Thsnks
  18. I know how you feel...we are about 350m from Heber, which crazily would have been too far this year! We have been offered a nursery place there, but I am worried if my daughter takes up this place and then doesn't get into the school it'll be really unsettling for her. Also Heber had a bulge year 2010/2011, given 2 years is a popular age gap, there could be more siblings 2012/2013. I have heard good things about Goose Green, so do I rule out Heber and reject the nursery place and pin my hopes in Goose Green...its a nightmare! Cant believe I am worrying about this already!!
  19. Have just had a letter through offering us a place at Heber Nursery. Has anyone got experience of sending their child there? I put my daughters name down ages ago and now am wondering whether 5 days is too much and whether she would be better going somewhere 3 days a week. Or is it better preparation for proper school? Any advice appreciated...what do you think of their facilities etc? Thanks Lou
  20. My daughter currently goes to nursery for 2 full days. She'll soon by 3, so eligible for 15 hrs free, as I have a new baby I think sending her somewhere for 3 mornings would suit us better. I know BUDS does morning sesssions, but not sure where else does. Anyone out there know of any other nurseries that do morning sessions. She is on waiting list for Heber Nursery, but not sure how likely it is she'll get a place. Thanks
  21. They must get rent reduction. I rang the estate agents pretty soon after the sign went up and was told it was under offer and that the rent was 65k a year... http://www.lcg.uk.com/
  22. No Thanks! One of the best aspects of ED is there aren't masses of chains. If people want waitrose, they can go online. Without meaning to be rude James, I think there are probably a lot more important things for you to be thinking about / dealing with!!
  23. Me too. Toddler has temp of 39.5, doing the nurofen / calpol thing with her, which brings it down and she doesnt seem bothered at all....still very cheerful and chatty...I on the other hand feel awful, sore throat, achey body, hacking cough, am 8 months pregnant so not keen on taking anything, even if I had the energy to go to the pharmacy....feel really guilty as resorting to TV...but figure its not an every day occurrence. Watching Mary Poppins with her at moment!! A few friends have had same thing and took 5 - 10 days to clear up. Snowboarder, yours sounds a lot worse, I would call doctors and insist someone calls you back, they should if you explain symptoms and that you are pregnant. Good luck x
  24. Sorry to hear you were broken it to...horrible. We used select a door in penge. They were very good, can't totally recall cost, but think it was around the grand mark. This included totally new frame and the most expensive glass & locks.
  25. I dont think it is too much to ask friends...around here in all likelihood you will be asked to repay the favour very soon! I am due 2nd in January and will be relying on friends, until my parents can get down and take over!
