  1. Louisiana - I;ve always been interested in this...I work for a broadcaster and have had occasion to follow up "stories" in the national papers. I recall wasting an entire morning doing just that with a front page piece in the FT - only to discover it was entirely bogus. Facts, dates, everything was wrong. All this despite the boldly emblazened byline and winsome picture of the miscreant journo who had penned this turd. I also have a mate who works at a big national organisation. She found herself quoted extensively in a broadsheet. She has dealings with that particular journo on a regular basis - and had she spoken to him, she would have said pretty much what she was quoted as saying.Only trouble is, she hadnt spoken to himk on that occasion. The Guaradian pulled a similar stunt with another mate of mine. My question is - is it the night/sub editor who makes this shit up - or is it the actual writer ( not you, obviously!)?
  2. what I'm a gonna do?
  3. Hey green goose I did NOT backtrack. Read the post. Try to keep up.
  4. KK don't believe everything u read in the Daily Mail.Black Boy lane is still alive and well and living in Tottenham/Hornsey
  5. K are we talking about the Palmerston? If so i've never had a problem there....apart from the prices, which can be a bit steep. But still, lovely grub. If it's the Bishop, again, no problem there....apart from the overly friendly, occasionally drooling pub dog.
  6. Many of us will be upset and worried by what's happened. I, like many others, was naive enough to think "it couldnt happen here". I' like many others, have been proved wrong. But unless anyone on here is an expert criminal/forensic investigator with a unique insight into this case, people should keep idle speculation about the "guilt" or otherwise of the victim to themselves. As someone stated elsewhere, this is a public forum not a cosy chat between neighbours. Relatives of the victim could come across this. Show some respect.
  7. Yes, cordoned off at jct with Hindmans. This is obviously very distressing. Follows armed hold-up at Blue Mountain a few weeks ago. Chef was pistol whipped and cash stolen. Important not to panic, but it is concerning.
  8. Will everyone just chill! S, like I said, well done for being a good neighbour - one of the great things about E Dulwich is the sense of community. The more of us who acted like you the better... res ipso loquitor. Plus point taken about the prevaling id conditions. And sorry for being anal about the spelling! Pax? RD - you're missing the point. It's not the use of the term black I was objecting to - it was the sheer breadth of the net of suspicion cast by the phrase. I am a black person and am proud of the fact and have no problem with use of the term. Strawbs - see above...plus...what is this "honk" you speak of? TLS - very good point. "Four black girls" description in Devon village would be fine. They's stand out.
  9. My point is simply this ...."four black girls" is so vague a description as to be useless. What were they wearing..how tall were they...what did they actually LOOK like - other than simply black. Four white girls would be equally useless. Of course racial/ethnic characteristics are perfectly legitimate when part of a functional description - but is really unhelpful as the SOLE or dominant factor. It doesnt help police, prosecutors or the public. In fact it's part of the reason eyewitness evidence can be so hard to stand up in court. And yes, well done for looking out for a neighbour!
  10. Is it just me or is there an increase in the number of folk around the Hindmans Road/Upland Road area strutting around with big, rough vicous looking dogs? Would be good to see them all muzzled or gone from the neighbourhood. The dogs, too.
  11. Spartacus sorry about your car but "four black girls" is a really silly description. It could easily apply to my daughter and her friends and is pretty offensive. Think before you post. Also interfering doesnt have an "a".
  12. What is this "hoodie" you speak of? BTW what's the vibe like in that Adventure joint? Seems a bit dry. But then again, I'm ancient.
  13. Yes, that sort of comment is not helpful and rather off-putting. Plus its buglAr not bruglEr.
  14. 5-0? Is this the Wire?
