  1. Yes I'm on hindmans too. Had assumed it was bereavement (I am of caribbean stock)but only found out this morning it was the daughter who died. Quite shocking news. Poor commentary on my neighbourliness that it took so long for me to find out. I am told authoritatively that it's unusual for each of the 'nine nights' to be observed so fulsomely. Will have to pop round to offer condolences. A terrible blow for the family.
  2. People raise children perfectly successfully without special patking for parents with children. In fact most people dont even notice the absence of this facility . Yet somehow in east dulwich.....Get some perspective. P & C street parking next ?
  3. What is the difficulty here? The point is that cyclists should give plenty of space to pedestrians. It's common sense and basic manners. And why is it difficult to accept that some cyclists are dangerous and inconsiderate- without veering into some weird tangential discourse about how other things (like cars dogs...or maybe even rhinos) are statistically even more dangerous?
  4. Why are so many cyclists so freaking defensive ? Is it beyond your powers of empathy to grasp that someone on foot just MIGHT feel vulnerabje if buzzed by someone on a bike. Jeez. I always try to give people as wide a berth as possible in similar circumstances. Fair play to Bawdy for at being alive to the sensibilities of others. Sarange, as a casual cyclist I apologise for the hateful Lycra louts.
  5. Large parts of BBC Television Centre will soon be vacant. Again a bit distant from ED but very spacious.
  6. Talk about the second coming !

  8. Don't think it really needs much of a study. Cyclists going through red lights + traffic crossing the junction + pedestrians crossing the road = mayhem. Some things speak for themselves , innit ?
  9. Ha ha Pearson I like the way you roll....as it were !

  11. Cripes didn't even know this place existed and I live five minutes away. Acumenman nobody is saying it's ok to call after women. If they're doing it the Old Bill ought to be involved. But from the tone of your post I suspect a semi in rickmansworth and a subscription to the Express are in your future !
  12. Yeah where was it coming from? I live in hindmans rd and heard it when returning from evening of indiscretion at about 0400. Btw Willard, intrigued as to where you got the term "jump up " from. Very Caribbean.
  13. What's wrong with pushing the bike on the pavement rather than riding it ?
  14. So many cyclist( not all) put themselves and others at risk by randomly swerving in and of traffic, charging through red lights , hopping onto the pavement and positioning themselves along vehicles' blind side. Had to yell at some miscreant after he went through a red light, narrowly avoiding a woman and child crossing the road, yesterday. My friends car suffered hundreds of pounds worth of damage when some bloke ran into it as she waited in a traffic jam. The cyclist did give his details - but only paid up when my mate threatened to involve the police. As a cyclist and motorist I think bikes should be registered to their owners. The current system envisages cyclists pootling along, obeying the rules of the road. What we've actually got is a breed of aggressive over adrenalized cyclist whose dangerous behaviour needs to be checked.
  15. Is Lacon Rd anywhere near Nutfield Rd - which is also closed off by the Bill this morning?

  18. Today Was a Good Day - Ice Cube. Next.
  19. Initially it sounded a bit naff. And all the general gushiness is a bit nauseating. But a big street party at a time of national celebration would be great. The wedding itself would be incidental and it would have an ED twist. Have it on a side road though.
  20. Anybody know Carol Anne Wytec? Something for her has been inadvertently delivered to my address.
