  1. Sweet Lady Gaga, I wish the council would devote as much time and energy to keeping the streets clean as they do to bloody recycling. Right now there are bags of rubbish ( left on the street by council street cleaners ) which have been torn apart by the foxes. The streets around here are strewn with disgusting rubbish, which I've just been told won't be shifted til tomorrow . Wonder why we've got a rodent problem in the area? Well at least we've got the recycling thing covered.
  2. Rather more trenchantly put than I would have expressed it perhaps, but ....what H said. Common law only really works as an amswer here if you are dealing with a unified national legal system - remember common law is defined and enforced by a country's courts. In the absence of that you'd need to have a specific internationally agreed and enacted instrument or treaty, surely ? I aint no legal expert , but in all the heat and emotion of this I have never seen anyone even mention the law under which Blair et al should be tried.
  3. Sadly, I fear the response of those not fired with the zeal of the recycler will be to do what's done elsewhere. More flytipping. Yuk. And washing crap filled nappies to reuse them - :-S

Bizarrely the BBC use her to present online legal training modules - sitting behind a lawyer's desk! (assuming its the same woman we're talking about. Ignore me if we're not.)
  5. Yes but what actual law was broken? Which actual law says it's illegal to start a war without UN Sec Council approval or not in self defence.? I see a lot of strong opinion expressed in the above wiki extract but no actual legal provisions.
  6. Not Sainsbury but actor Paul Mcgann in new ED gym. And I thought I was above celebrity spotting. I hate myself.
  7. A few more installations please and, yes, more impactive public info about whats on. But fantastic work. Baby Mice amusing and repelling in equal measure! A favourite of my five year old guest .
  8. I am not asking whether Blairs actions were right or wrong. Everyone has their opinion on that . I am merely trying to find out which specific legal provisions were allegedly violated.

Correct analysis. I am no tory, but it seems churlish in the extreme to criticise Dave and Boris for doing the right thing. All this tedious "Tory equals evil" and " labour equals evil" reductionism really belongs to a bygone era and merely serves to coarsen public debate. > > Heads you win, tails you win.
  10. In here for the first time in ages. Pleased at deeper analysis of riots than in the rest of the forum (a lot of low-rent ranting). But the level of vitriol on this thread is breathtaking. Tony Blair should kill himself? That demeans us all. And Loz vs Noodlehats? Take it outside please. But DJQK - love your heart and and mind. Great stuff. Oh - what is AFN reference?
  11. Jupiter's dick, I'm TIRED of this by rote cant about Blair and his supposed crimes. . He sent us to war on a mistaken premise - that doesn't absolve the soldiers responsible for specific acts of violence against a specific individual from personal liability . Yes they must be brought to justice and prosecuted under UK and international statutes. Exactly what should Blair be tried for in this or any other instance? Don't give me some vague old pony about "war crimes" . Name the specific statutes or precedents he has violated and the forum which would be competent to try these alleged violations.
  12. Yes a nasty undertone developing.... Actually more of an overtone.

Otherwise you might as well have given it > to bloody Adele. e I think the work of Jon Hopkins is extraordinary - an electric and eclectic creativity that leaves one (metaphorcally) gasping, at times. But DC - sorry to appear unsophisticated here- but what;s wrong with Adele. I;ve noticed quite a few people being snooty about her of late. I think she's incredibly gifted....but does this just mean I;m old and out of touch? *man tunes radio to Magic and weeps silently*
  15. Oh sorry. Just meant missnoodle head sounded like she was carrying some kind of grudge. Apologies for any offence.
  16. MissNoodle etc: the more I think about it, the more this sounds like a spurned girlfriend . OP? Anything you'd like to share ? KidKruger: it's vile being intimidated by anyone - see my post above . I actively have to fight against assuming a racial motive when I get shit from a white person. Obviously one will draw conclusions depending on the nature of the incident. In the OP ' s case it sounds as if he might have a point - the bomber jacket, short hair et al. And doubtless the incidents you've experienced MAY have been racially motivated - and you are entitled to draw your own conclusions . But I seriously doubt if every act of intimidation has been a race thing. I've had abuse hurled at me by a black guy in very similar circumstances to your coke can incident - and I'm black. There are dickheads of all races around here - don't assume a racial motive simply because you've run up against a few black ones. We're not out to get you !
  17. Yeah Miss Noode Hat did sound a little deranged.
  18. Lol ! Welcome l.Scott . Like your style.
  19. Welcome L.scott. What is KMT?
  20. RosieH ! Curses ! You may have beaten me to the punch THIS time - but I WIL be quicker in future. Grrrrr.... *man flexes posting fingers to sound of Eye of the Tiger*

Also that gruesome fraud "Lady" Gaga is putting me off music. Not just her own cheap derivative doggerel. All music. Stop her -NOW.
  22. General yobbery or racial profiling on his part ? Sorry this happened to you ( was not me by the way! ) Interestingly on the rare occasion someone is yobbish towards me it's quite easy to think "is it cos I is black." In fact that was the case when I was in lift with very coked up aggressive white guy at posh kensington venue on Saturday night. Curiously he was already in the lift and actually standing in some blood when I got in , so don't know if he'd already decked sonebody. Naturally the lift went down, up, then down again before disgorging us - making him even more agitated. Was his yobbishness towards me racially motivated? Dunno . Got the hell out of there!
  23. I have lived in ED for four years and broadly speaking think it's a great place to live. It can be a bit like planet of the MILFs if you're here in the middle of the day ( all the hubbies at work as the mums take the afternoon air ) but its largely speaking a civilised happy place - much more so than most places in London. But a friend of mine who operates a local coffee shop has complained of an influx of braying clapham types - rude abrasive and arriviste . The fear is that as the area grows in popularity the more clapham it may become . But I am hopeful ED will survive the insidious influence of the waitrose brigade. Pip pip!
  24. Was in the Clockhouse couple of weeks ago and surprised to see their Xmas menu already being advertised . Get your bookings in folks ....
  25. Ah it all makes sense now. Sort of.
