  1. There are very few spaces available to young people these days, so one that was created by the young people themselves is a rare thing indeed and shows enterprise, engagement, and things we ought to encourage rather than being fearful of. The councillor in the article is - predictably - advocating for an 'affordable' pub or restaurant. I'd be concerned this just a popular way of saying a 'chain' pub or restaurant which would be about as unappealing as a Lidl or Aldi. Did you prefer it when it was being used as an open-air rubbish tip? Because that's what happened before the skatepark and what it would become again if the skatepark wasn't there as the landowners do nothing with the space.
  2. I think it’s often a lack of attention. I’ve seen owners a few times around the area and in the park not pick up and it’s been because they’re not paying attention to their dog(s) - distracted by their children/friend/phone - and their dog is behind them off lead and has quickly squeezed one out unseen. Obviously I point it out to the owner. The other gripe is that even if mess is picked up, it often leaves marks and streaks on the pavement that you equally wish to avoid stepping in. Better than a big chunky stool but still very annoying and can get in your shoe.
  3. I'm guessing it's to stop break ins. There was a dog patrol van present for a couple of months prior to this new fence going up. We can only hope it's a sign that something will finally happen with the building.
  4. Has anyone noticed the dog patrol van outside the old Grove pub? Been parked there for a few weeks. Didn't think much of it at first - thought it was just security for a derelict building. But the van looks very battered, with almost fake looking dog security stickers, and no company name or number. There's always someone sat in the front but I never see any dogs...
  5. No info on the dog unit, but tonight I notice a police presence (and BT van) at the entrance of the newly occupied BT site. There appears to only be one caravan there now. Rubbish still in tact.
  6. I live around the corner and have been following the developments. Is the suggestion that the travellers are also responsible for the dumping of the waste (right next to where they live)?
  7. No water on Lordship Lane near Grove Tavern.
  8. Just seen that fire engine and ambulance reverse down Cox's Walk. Incident seems to be over now. Emergency vehicles have left the scene. Still no idea what happened though.
  9. Has anyone else seen the major - possibly traffic? - incident at the junction of South Circular and Lordship Lane? Multiple emergency vehicles, and road is now closed heading West.
