  1. when is this housing development going to be finished? Seems to be taking agessss.....
  2. Owen Teale of Game of Thrones and Line of Duty etc. filling his car boot outside M&S.
  3. I think it's a great site for sharing information and finding out what's happening locally, but what astounds me are the number of people with huge chips on their shoulders!
  4. The best bet is to get trains from Peckham Rye or Denmark Hill as there is far more choice and you are not limited to Southern trains!
  5. I found this picture of Upland Road in the past... the view is from the junction with Hindmans Road looking towards Barry Road. The Church has gone now.

I think you'll find I did "react". In relation to this particular planning application myself and a number of other local residents raised the issue of the increased traffic caused by the proposed building works along with a number of other salient points regarding the new build to the Council... the first application was knocked back, so I guess we achieved something! It won't be too much longer before we have parking controls in ED... as someone who struggles to find a parking space on my street I am in favour of this measure.
  7. Oh well.... I'll prepare myself for the HGVs and the demolition work!

  9. Yes, I've just spoken with the local stores and they confirmed that it was students from that school. There was indeed a street fight and the police that drove through had been called by one of my concerned neighbours. I'll contact the school. Thanks!
  10. I've noticed a few times recently that at about 4pm each weekday there is a gang of approximately 20 teenage school kids on Barry Road and Upland Road hanging around, fighting in the streets and intimidating passers-by and some shop keepers. When a police car went by just now with its sirens on, obviously going to another incident, they are all ran off in different directions. They are wearing navy blue school uniforms with an orange collar, so not sure what school that is. Hopefully it won't be a regular occurrence, but is it worth informing the school??? Not sure what they can do though???

Thanks for the sarcastic nonsense. It was an elderly lady with a walking stick that I saw nearly slip over on her way to the bus stop, so not really a laughing matter! Yes I know that leaves fall from trees (must've been taught that in school), but I've lived in East Dulwich for 15 years now and the pavements on Barry Rd have never been this bad...
  12. Walking down Barry Road at the moment is a risky business due to the wet leaves on the pavements! I've already witnessed a few near-slips... is it the Council's responsibility to clear away the leaves?
  13. It's an improvement but the additional floor is the major issue. There has been an ugly loft extension agreed on the street, so it's likely to get the go ahead. The floodgates will open!
  14. I received notification from Southwark council today that the plans have been revised. Namely: Change of materials on third floor and removal of front balcony; Removal of bay windows on ground floor; Use of brickwork on first floor in place of render. The consultation period has been extended to 1 October.
  15. Yes please make comments on the planning application... it looks like over development to me despite the definite need for some form of works to be done. I'm not looking forward to all the HGVs coming down the street either! It has been bad enough with the construction work on the junction of Upland and Crystal Palace Rd. The deadline is Thursday, 8 September so you have a couple of weeks yet.
  16. The proposal is now on the planning site of Southwark Council: http://planbuild.southwark.gov.uk:8190/online-applications/applicationDetails.do?activeTab=externalDocuments&keyVal=_STHWR_DCAPR_9568047
  17. I can hear screaming and shouting in the area... Is it the same party?
  18. Is anything happening with the East Dulwich Hotel? The sold sign seems to have disappeared and it's still a "hotel".
  19. I just wish Peckham Rye station would get an urgent revamp as it's terrible, especially during busy commuting times. Stairs too narrow, no lifts, not enough ticket barriers for the volume of people, too few ticket machines.... I could go on and on.... Are they waiting until the works start on creating a public square at the front of the station??
  20. Finally!!!! Although this came too late for our week's Summer. The cooling system on these new buses is appalling, so it really needed doing.
  21. Yeah the TFL consultation findings supported the Old Kent Road extension... it's a shame they couldn't do both: https://consultations.tfl.gov.uk/tube/bakerloo-extension Michael Palaeologus Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > Evening Standard today seemed to say that the Old > Kent Road route has been confirmed. 22. Thanks! If they don't arrive today I will certainly go to the delivery office. Thanks again all!

  24. Hello, has anyone received any post this week? I've been waiting for some important mail which I know was posted on Monday first class, but I've not had any deliveries. Also, I've not seen the postie doing his / her round at all.
