If so, what's the best time, etc.? Yes, I've been down a few times over the weeks. From memory they are open most days 8am to 12pm, but are open on Thursdays all day. I've popped down about 11am and there haven't been many in the queue. Definitely worth a try if you're waiting for something urgently! Mind you despite my visits I am still waiting for quite a few items posted over a month ago! They won't get through the backlog until Feb I'm told.

Ok, I just went to the Peckham delivery office. Apparently they haven't made any real headway and there is a HUGE backlog. The focus is on parcels and special delivery apparently with letters a low priority - I was told I'd probably be receiving Xmas cards in February!
-
No post for me. I am still waiting for a small parcel posted to me first class 3 weeks ago (as well as lots of Xmas cards)! Off I trot to the Highshore Rd delivery office once more... at least it's my daily exercise :)

This year 0. Hi Tomskip, you shouldn't have to, but I'd suggest going down to the Highshore Rd office today and collect what post they may have for you. I'll have another go today as still waiting for my Mum's Christmas parcel posted 1st class two weeks ago!

I went to the Highshore Road delivery office this afternoon and complained. The nice guy at the desk went to check if they had any post for me and came back with only two Christmas cards. Not the parcel I'm expecting unfortunately. They must have a huge backlog.

No post for a week here and the last time I received some was also the first time in a week!
-
I finally had post on Wednesday evening(!) which was mailed to me 2 weeks earlier! Massive issues in the local sorting offices I'm told due to volume of mail, social distancing and staff off sick. Regardless the local post has never been the same since they closed the East Dulwich sorting office.

Man alone in Dulwich park playground (Lounged)
craigyboy71 replied to fleothecat's topic in The Lounge
I know East Dulwich seems to have been taken over by young families, but as a single male I can't see the problem with this guy chilling out in a public area at all. Let the man do what he wants as long as he isn't causing any harm, or breaking any laws. -
At least it looks like it will be completed 3 months earlier! https://www.southwarknews.co.uk/news/rye-lane-works-could-be-finished-three-months-early/

185 bus (I have found it to be exceptionally poor)
craigyboy71 replied to EDNate's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
Definitely getting a train is the fastest way to the West End. I live on Upland Rd and I get the 12 or 197 bus to Peckham Rye station. From there lots of options to get in to town, but I'd suggest the train to London Bridge and change platforms to catch another train to Charing Cross. -
yeah a major problem in area since they closed the East Dulwich sorting office last month. All discussed in another thread titled "Royal Mail Sorting Office Closure Meeting.."

Royal Mail Sorting Office Closure Meeting..

I received a batch of mail yesterday, but typically not the important letter I am waiting for that was posted first class on 24th September! craigyboy71 Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > I've been waiting 10 days for mail. Royal Mail Sorting Office Closure Meeting..
craigyboy71 replied to DulwichFox's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
I've been waiting 10 days for mail. I gave the Royal Mail complaint line a call this morning and can't say I was reassured that things will improve anytime soon! I'd happily go and collect my own mail, but is that an option? -
Yep, same here! When I contacted Royal Mail they said there are "staffing issues". I'd raise a formal complaint if I can navigate my way through their website! zoester Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > Is anyone experiencing these issues on Upland Road > as well? Barry Road -- healthy streets consultation
craigyboy71 replied to Sally Eva's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
Barry Road definitely needs to be tackled. However, I live on Upland Road (between Barry Road and Crystal Palace Rd) and it is already a busy cut through for traffic, so this may increase. There are speed bumps on the street, but due to them being so shallow and spread far apart they have absolutely no effect on the speed of traffic.... especially for larger vehicles. -
Speeding on Barry Road is a long-standing issue, but the Council won't do anything due to the buses that use the street. I am surprised there haven't been more accidents. I live on Upland Road, off Barry Road, which is a busy cut through to Lordship Lane. I'm amazed at the speeds cars go down this street, especially as the existing "speed" bumps are so shallow they have no need to slow down!

Noisy children playing outside at 6am!
craigyboy71 replied to craigyboy71's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
I already wear ear plugs! Fortunately this morning was ok, but yes I blame the parents! -
Over the last few weekends I've been woken up between 6am and 7am by children playing in the garden of a mystery neighbour! Living in a flat surrounded by high trees I can't for the life of me work out which house it is (I live Peckham Rye end of Barry Road), but my weekend lie-ins are being affected! I am all for kids playing outside, but at 6am really!

Thameslink phase2 survey- closes 27th July
craigyboy71 replied to Renata Hamvas's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
The increase in Thameslink trains to four per hour is something I am supportive of, although quite often problems occur due to cancellation of services or short formation of the trains during rush hour. Reliability needs to improve significantly. Survey completed! -
Saturday 17th June at 12pm - Please note that the Gym Group in Peckham is currently closed due to a powercut. I'm told it should reopen later this pm.

Warning : theft just now at gym on crystal palace road
craigyboy71 replied to Strawbs's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
Yes, unfortunately I'm told this is quite common in many gyms. A few years ago I had my locker broken into at a central London gym (I was a regular member with a specific locker) and as it was after work I had items of significant value stolen including my phone, wallet and house keys. I was told by the police at the time that such incidents can sometimes be inside jobs whereby an employee of the gym can advise the thief which lockers to target! On this occasion as the only two lockers broken into had significant valuables this makes sense. As a result, as well as moving to a new gym, I now take limited valuables with me when I work out and also take my phone into the gym with me. -
Settle an argument - was there a Costa in Peckham before?!

not that I know of either...
