  1. Hi Cella Not disengaged at all. Just responding in a lighthearted way to the more hostile toned comments, especially when those involved didn't even participate! To everyone who did participate, we genuinely apologise for the the delay. As we said above, arranging the judging panel and group members to be in one room over summer has been difficult, and our time and resources were diverted to the project management of the mural element. We are all volunteers on this project, with normal day jobs, and things don't always run as smoothly as you'd like. We hugely appreciate your participation and patience. This is the next project on our hit-list, and we'll respond to the participants as quickly as we can with an update. EDAG
  2. Now there?s a man with time on his hands! We did previously explain the delay, however, we?ve failed you D. Deep down, we know we have. Consider us reprimanded and yourself the winner... not of the competition of course!!!

  4. Ken - already explained about the delay. Nothing to add to this really. dbboy - Competition T&Cs on our website. Have a shufty. Ruffers - We agree!! Luckily we are all fairly thick skinned, HOWEVER at the end of the process we will be waiting, bare chested on Goose Green to meet all nay-sayer in age old ritual hand-to-hand combat. Date to be announced!
  5. Hi Cella That's certainly not the intention. It honestly just comes down to hours in the day and the availability of key people. We have 6 busy judges and a busy volunteer team, so it's a bit of a juggling act. However, point taken and good advice. We will put together a schedule to post on the website and here later this week. EDAG
  6. Wow, that?s a lot of question marks! Nothing like a bit of enthusiasm, but do you mean since your post on the 6th....? Did you enter Ken? The explanation above was pretty open and clear about the delay, so just keen to find out the root of your tone. We all volunteer on the project, including the judges, and with availability over summer and the mural element taking priority for a short time, this part has been delayed. You?ll be glad to hear that No one has been inconvenienced in a life changing way because of this though. Keep an eye on this thread and you?ll be the very first one to know about the results however. With regards to your ?Con? comment, the only Con to date has been the CONsiderable amount of time dedicated to making sure the High Street Challenge initiative delivers some fantastic additions to the East Dulwich landscape. Watch this space. In the meantime, if you are interested in volunteering your time with us, please send us an intro PM. EDAG
  7. Hi Ken Judging on this has been delayed because of availability of the judges and also the volunteers in the group have been stretched with the mural work. BUT it is the next item on our hit list! There won?t be one ?winner? tho. There will be multiple images selected to be displayed as part of the outdoor banner exhibition in the new year. We will make sure to keep you up to date with progress. EDAG
  8. Hi Northern Exile It's a shame you're not keen on it, but art is subjective. We've had overwhelmingly positive feedback about it, and we absolutely love it. The Girl at the Window and the Pugilists are part of a planned and linked concept by the Dulwich Outdoor Gallery, driven by Ingrid Beazley, to reinterpret classical art as street art. It's an incredible collection of work. Our piece isn't part of that campaign. There are 3 more walls to fill tho, if you are handy with a paintbrush!! 9. Hi Angelina See the post just above yours for reasons why the roadside wall was unfortunately not safe or practical to paint. Sorry this is not visible for your normal route, however, you've got an excuse to get a coffee and cake from Blackbird, The Grove, La Scala or FC Cafe enroute, so I?d stock up and have a walk by. It's well worth the walk, and hopefully you'll love it.. EDAG
  10. Hi there Unfortunately this was down to permissions and safety. The road-side wall was our preferred spot, however these walls don?t have a pavement , so we would have had to close the road completely on one side for 4 days to allow the artists to safely work on the scaffolding. It was highly unlikely that we would have been allowed this by the highways agency. We DID try to work this into a planned road closure (see our previous threads) because of water work upgrades with the new building, but this was too far away from the bridge to close. So unfortunately it was simply impossible to safely paint the road walls. Both Foresthill and Herne Hill have a full size pavement in front of them, so it wasn?t a problem for them. Sorry you didn?t get a chance to see it the other day, but we hope you?ll pop back down as it really is fantastic. 11. Hi Kate Thanks so much for your comment. We agree! The mural looks incredible. BSC&AA were working in the dark until 9.30pm last night to finish it, and we are so happy with the end result. In terms of preparation, yes, it needs protected or it'll get damaged. Within the budget, we were able to put a sealant on it today to protect it short term against defacement, HOWEVER longer term, we are about to crowdfund to protect it long term with more anti-graffiti coating and also rain water protection. The water from the bridge will do some harm to it, so we are discussing guttering to redirect the water from the face of the wall. But the budget doesn't cover this, so we HOPE that now the community has seen the mural, they'll step up to help us protect it. As soon as the crowdfunder is live, we'll be launching it here. 12. The gang are back on it in this horrible weather and making awesome progress! Say HI if you are passing. Special thanks to the two d*ckheads who pointlessly scrawled on the wall overnight. Which brings us to our next stage: We are about to crowdfund for the long term protection of the wall, which is over and above the budget for the creation of the mural. We want this to be a lovely asset to the area for a long time, and we will be asking ED residents to help protect it. The Forest Hill community raised over ?2500 in 72hrs for the creation and protection of their mural, which is awesome, and we hope you will all get behind your mural too. As soon as this is live, we'll let you all know. --------------------------- EAST DULWICH ACTION GROUP The East Dulwich Action Group is comprised of local residents and businesses working together to deliver Southwark Council's High Street Challenge Initiative, strengthen the identity of East Dulwich and promote the area to residents and visitors alike. 13. Hi Cat We have those! So you can copy them once the piece is complete. Email is at [email protected], or check out the website next week. The artists also have a friend creating a short film about the piece and documenting progress, so as soon as that is live, we'll let you know too. 14. Massive high-5's to the gang for ploughing through in atrocious weather today! Making great progress and LOAD'S of locals popping down to say Hi and check out their awesome design. Back at it 8.30am tomorrow morning. EDAG
  15. Hi Sue Over 1000 people participated in the vote to choose an artist, which was fantastic. Blue Shop Cottage/Alphabetics Anonymous were the winners and are on-site now!!! VERY exciting! Lots of people stopping to talk to them. If you are free today or tomorrow, pop down and say hi to Jake, Hannah, Ocki and Nathan. If you can't the mural will be finished Monday morning. We're very excited for ED to see the end result. We love it, and we hope you all do too. 16. Hi Dulwich FOx The painting is on the station entrance pavement, so no road closure. EDAG
  17. Blue Shop Cottage/Alphabetics Anonymous - The winners of the public vote to create the new East Dulwich Station Mural - are creating it THIS WEEKEND! Come along and see them in action! Following a huge public vote, and public feedback consultations at East Dulwich Station, North Cross Road Market and Lordship Lane, your feedback has been used to inspire the artwork! 18. The winners of the public vote to create the new East Dulwich Station Mural are at East Dulwich Station this morning and North Cross Road Market tomorrow, collecting feedback from locals, which will be used to inspire the artwork! 19. Hi Abe The mural fee paid to the artist is covered within our budget. If you read the post, the crowdfunding element is for preparation and protection. It?s an opportunity to pitch in, and be named, on a great project to help it last for many years to come. Murals are defaced and damaged, so this element will run well beyond our funding period. The mural project will go ahead regardless. Hope that clarifies your query EASTDAG Abe_froeman Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > "Once the final design is approved, we will be > crowdfunding to cover the preparation and > protection of the mural." > > You mean you went through all this and asked > people to spend their time voting when you don;'t > even have any money to finance this project?!
  20. Thank you so much for taking part in the vote to choose an artist to paint a mural on the bridge outside East Dulwich Train Station. Along with an esteemed judging panel we had a fantastic response from the East Dulwich community with just shy of 1,000 votes cast. The votes are now in and we are delighted to announce that the winner of the East Dulwich Station Mural competition is Blue Shop Cottage / Alphabetics Anonymous. We will be meeting Blue Shop Cottage to discuss their ideas and will present these as soon as we possibly can. Once the final design is approved, we will be crowdfunding to cover the preparation and protection of the mural. Thanks again for your your input! It has been much appreciated. We will be sure to keep you updated as the project moves forward. 21. Hi Lavender & Ken Thanks for the enthusiasm to see the shots. We got a LOT of entries, so collation and then judging is going to take some time. We are also all doing this in our spare time around families and "real" jobs! : ) The aim is for the winners to be announced later this year before the banner exhibition is launched. However we will keep you informed as the project progresses for sure. Keep checking in on the website also: www.LoveEastDulwich.com EDAG lavender27 Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > Good morning > > When will we know who has won the competition. ? > Will you post on here please. ?
