  1. My virgin media service has not been working properly for several weeks, half the channels are not broadcasting. When I phoned customer non-service I was told I couldn't be put through to the faults dept because of the high number of calls they were having. This was after holding to get through for around 30 mins. I wasn't very happy....... At some point when I've got an hour of my life to waste I'll try again. I'll also be asking for compensation. If I had a BT line I'd sack them altogether. Tempted to start that process anyway.
  2. Mrs mlteenie's mother lives in the Scottish borders and is not connected to any mains water supply. Their water comes straight off the hill into a tank with only some minor filtration. It's as unadulterated as it comes (apart from sheep piss) but I much prefer the water out of our London Tap! I guess it's all a matter of personal taste.
  3. Car hit bus coming in opposite direction. Apparently former driver done a runner despite considerable damage to vehicle.
  4. Thanks for that. er.... I receve both orange and gmail in my desktop. On my phone I delete them as I go but don't use the desktop too often, hence the unread monster. So... I will try that. I think.
  5. It is prob due to the ceiling flexing and the plaster popping off where the nails affix the plasterboard sheets above. PVA the holes carefully, allow to dry, fill them with Polyfilla or similar, sand down (poss fill again), the wipe, PVA again, sand lightly and blend in with a brush using same paint. Should work fine.
  6. Hi all Not being v IT-literate, can someone advise me about deleting emails. Like many of us I have several email portals: iphone, Mac and (now dead) PC laptop. I have emails duplicated across these three and I want to know if I delete the almost 1000 unread ones from my Mac, will that affect the others in any way? Or will there still be a record of them at Orange and gmail? I know this might sound a bit dim but I don't really understand the hierarchy of the emails. Thanks!
  7. My comments: I heartily agree that cycling is the ideal way to traverse London. You can ride a very cheap bike as long as it is serviced regularly (like any bike), and it will function almost as well as anything. Then you are certainly saving money as well as becoming healthier. A free two-hour cycle lesson is often given to those living or working in a particular borough - try the appropriate council's transport section for more info. Cycling looks far more daunting from the side if the road than when you are in the thick of it. Help London work smoothly - ride considerately and look out for yourself and you will surely never regret taking it up.
  8. Ha Ha, I'll be the one pacing around and shouting "C'mon Andy!!!!" and generally getting over-excited. I listened to the semi on Radio 5 and it's just not the same.... Erm, wrong account - Asset actually.
  9. Fantastic! Hi Miriam - really glad you found this. I will forward the details to my friend who lives there now. Perhaps he will find the rest. I am sure he will be very interested to hear the story. Have a lovely weekend!
  10. My comment is that I am tattooed and if I like your style then you might see me down there sometime. I think the fact that the OP has spawned (so far) 7 pages of debate suggests that there may well be plenty of custom. Hope it goes well.
  11. Scrabble
  12. I think the trimetals sheds are good and there are many around here. The outsides are lockable and I am sure their resale value must be quite decent if you needed to get rid of it later. And should you be after a ground anchor and chain lock, I happen to be selling one.... ;-) yours for ?40
  13. Just go and watch 'Gran Torino' or something....
  14. I welcome the idea of being out in the community but don't think vigilante action is good. Having a pint and observing is porob just as effective at the moment. I couldn't help wondering if some of the Turkish 'concerned traders' of Green Lanes and environs had other aspects of their business in their minds, not just the rice... If I was a local scumbag who lived round there I wouldn't eff with them either.
  15. GG, one problem with that sort of punishment is the 'conviction'....
  16. There are some in the woods. Picked the berries last year.
  17. Possibly in the wrong section....:)Moved to Businesses
  18. I'll second the thanks, Klarita. That's very generous ;-) I urge anyone else who is seriously (or not!) interested in this idea to get together with us on a social night as we try and build some momentum together. As it was, we had a good, if suitably minimal night. Check out Klarita's site. Some good artists on there.
  19. Jah Lush Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > "Experimental music." Hmmm....does that mean you > can't actually play any instruments but like to > make a bit of a racket? Wot, you mean like Brian Eno? ;-) I met up with Alex last time and we had a good chat. Mainly trying to establish common ground, etc. Come along and get involved and we could actually try and make something happen. Coffee damn fine too. Here's some stuff of mine
  20. > @Mlteenie - I'm riding 42/16 which came as > standard on the bike. Not sure I'll change this > for a while unless you care to convince me > otherwise? Cheers, HB. I have since been advised by a very experienced fixie mate that he rides 44x18, so maybe I'll start with that.
  21. Train to London Bridge 12 mins - train from London Bridge to Brighton 1 hour.
  22. We could get more technical...? e.g. what ratios are good for around town? Was thinking 46 x 17. I spose I need to work out the gearing. I usually ride around in 50 x 19, but not necessarily up/down hills.
  23. Yes, it's a classic. Should be compulsory viewing.
  24. Hi Davros - welcome to the often sarcasm and smartarse-ridden EDF;-) Anyone can have an induction. Saturday morning, about ?4 or something silly (I think). You can do a road session on the track from about 4-6 on Tues, I think. It's all very well riding without brakes (altho illegal and IMO stupid). When you brake to stop for that truck that just pulled out and your chain snaps - well, you know what I am saying. Save it for the track. njc97 - you are probably right, straight in. I was wondering where would be a good place to practice. Dulwich Park on a weekday, perhaps?
