  1. Hi both Re meetings, we 're looking at doing one in Jan/Feb but I was thinking it would be online. Most people seem to appreciate the convenience of online meetings but I do take your point about in-person meetings having their advantages too. Not sure what you mean by raw data. The raw data would be hundreds of thousands of individual instances of a vehicle driving over a traffic counter - I don't think this would be very useful to anyone! As for being "massaged" I don't know what this means either, are you suggesting it has been fabricated in some way? If there's a specific question about the data that you'd like me to find the answer to then let me know and I will see what I can do. Best wishes James
  2. Hi all, There's a lot of data published here: https://moderngov.southwark.gov.uk/mgIssueHistoryHome.aspx?IId=50027352&Opt=0 As I say, September data should be available soon. Best wishes James
  3. Hi all, Glad to hear that the leaves are all sorted. Mrs D - no data are being held back, it just takes a while for each tranche to be processed. I've not yet seen the September data but I understand it will be published relatively soon. legalalien - we've done quite a lot of local community meetings: a few through the Dulwich Review, one about supporting Lordship Lane businesses, another about supporting Melbourne Grove and Grove Vale traders. None of these were organised through the Empowering Communities banner though. We do have an upcoming multi-ward meeting for the South area on the 8th December (details: https://www.southwark.gov.uk/engagement-and-consultations/empowering-communities/empowering-communities-south) and there is a Goose Green one in the pipeline for January/February. Hope that helps Best wishes James
  4. Apologies, I misunderstood your initial message as from Townley Road and further south, which is in Dulwich Village, and not from Townley Road and further north which is in Goose Green. It's reported in any case. Best wishes James
  5. Hi both, CPR Dave - If this is where I think it is then I think it's in Dulwich Village ward. But in any case, I wouldn't expect every resident to know where all the ward boundaries are and contact a different set of councillors each time they want to raise a different issue. Rather, everyone has their own 2 or 3 councillors who they can speak to about any issue relating to the council's work. For instance, a number of Goose Green residents contacted me about Rye Lane and I represented these concerns and views to the council, despite it not being in Goose Green ward. Nigello - sorry to hear that you've not had replies. I work quite closely with Cllr Browning of Dulwich Hill and as far as I can tell she is very diligent in responding. That's not to say that others are not too, just that I don't work with them as much so it's hard to tell! Best wishes James
  6. Hi Rockets, I've reported this and will try to get it sorted as soon as possible. I feel like we've discussed this many times before but if you have future queries would you mind please addressing them to your own local councillors in Dulwich Hill. I have no greater ability to make changes in the council than they do and it is their job to represent you, just as it is my job to represent the residents of Goose Green. It's nothing personal against you but it's not fair to either my constituents or to my fellow councillors in Dulwich Hill for me to take up issues on behalf of Dulwich Hill residents. Best wishes James
  7. Hi all, I hope everyone is doing well. Lynne - did you email me about this? I received a similar issue by email a few weeks ago. If not, please do drop me an email with more details (including an address) and I will look into it. TD - ditto, I think we've communicated over email but if it's just a coincidence that two people have had a similar experience, please let me know and I'll get right on it. IainJ - this is definitely an issue for Goose Green residents. I am of the view that buses should be allowed back down Rye Lane but that in the long term we need to find a solution that allows both bus access to the train station and also a safe cycle route. Rye Lane is a key part of the cycle network as it connects two key routes: south from Peckham Rye through to Lewisham, and north of Peckham High Street up to London Bridge. CPR Dave I haven't been told anything about new cycle markings. It's not a road closure and that street does make up part of the Southwark spine (as other posters have pointed out) so I suspect that it's that. LTNs As you know, the council has issued a number of proposals in response to the Dulwich Review. These are now subject to further discussion and feedback. I'll update you when I know more. Rockets Your councillors, Cllr Browning and Cllr Hartley, are available by email on [email protected] and [email protected]. Best wishes James
  8. Hi all, Just to let you know that I have written to the Royal Mail with a summary of some of the experiences that people shared with me. Last time it seemed to have an impact. I will keep you all posted. Best wishes James
  9. Hi all, Just to let you know that I have written to the Royal Mail with some of these experiences included. Last time it seemed to have an impact. I will keep you all posted. Best wishes James
  10. Hi all, I looked into this a few months back when the problem seemed really acute. I managed to get hold of someone fairly senior in Royal Mail. He initially said that the problem was already resolved, so I sent him a few dozen examples that local residents sent to me. After that, there seemed to be a marked improvement. I'm sorry to hear that the problem has returned again. I am happy to do the same again. If you're a Goose Green resident (check here: https://moderngov.southwark.gov.uk/mgFindMember.aspx?) then please email me with details of missed or seriously delayed post. I will pass it on and see what can be done. I'm on [email protected] Best wishes James
  11. Bumping this up again because it dropped to the previous page and I don't want anyone to miss it! jamesmcash Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > Hi all > > We are hosting two High Street Forums later this > month. 12. Hi all Rockets - I'm not entirely sure why it's taken so long. I think the crux of the problem is the number of different agencies and organisations involved. Some data is collected by the council, others by TfL, and it's being processed and analysed by an independent analyst. I have been pushing for it to have the earliest release date possible but I've not had as much success as I'd like. Artemis - I don't think it makes the whole consultation flawed. We want to know what's happening on the roads (the data) but also how people perceive it and feel about it (the consultation). Ideally, I agree, we'd have the data first but the fact that we do not does not make the consultation results useless. They will still tell us how people feel about the measures. I said "nevermind" because sometimes when you try really hard to make something happen and you do not succeed, you have to just accept it. I have spent a lot of time trying to get this data released in good time. first_mate - The timeframes are already very tight due to the maximum 18 months that the measures can be in place without being replaced or made permanent. For the earliest measures, this deadline is in December. There's a number of stages that we need to go through before then after the consultation is concluded which limits our time. Nonetheless, I am going to try to get the deadline extended but this will not change the fact that many people have already responded. Best wishes James
  13. Hi legal alien Good idea. I'll look into extending it a bit. That said, it won't really solve the problem that the bulk of respondents will have done so before seeing the data. Nevermind! Best wishes James
  14. Hi all We are hosting two High Street Forums later this month. The first, Monday 26th July, will focus on Lordship Lane and North Cross Road. The second, Thursday 29th July, will focus on Melbourne Grove and Grove Vale. Both will be online and will start at 7pm. To confirm your attendance please email [email protected] . The main focus is for the local businesses but if you frequent these high streets and want to support the local businesses, please come along. I'll paste the full invitation from cabinet member Cllr Ochere below. Best wishes James ----- Good Evening, We warmly invite you to join us for the first High Street Forum for North Cross Road/Lordship Lane on Monday 26th July 2021 at 7pm and for Melbourne Grove / Grove Vale on Thursday 29th July at 7pm. This will be an opportunity for businesses, local residents and relevant community groups to come together and engage with the council to discuss challenges and opportunities in the area, with the aim of developing an action plan that we share and deliver together. The Covid-19 crisis has threatened to exacerbate pre-existing problems faced by town centres and high streets and the council has therefore made their protection a priority. It is vital that we ensure our town centres and high streets remain vibrant, thriving, accessible spaces, safe for all, which contribute to the prosperity and cohesion of our local communities. Town Centres and High Streets are one of the four central themes of Southwark?s Economic Renewal Plan, through which we have outlined the actions we are taking in response to the economic challenges brought by the pandemic. In addition to this, a dedicated cross-council strategic response for Town Centres and High Streets is in development and we want to ensure that we engage with local businesses and residents to understand the challenges and work with you to deliver what is needed to create places that not only drive footfall and increase the number of visitors, but that are also places that are welcoming and safe, and that encourage innovation and creativity. We are looking to do this for a number of high streets across the borough. Your local councillors have made the case for why yours should be among the first. To confirm your attendance please email [email protected] . We also invite you to share the details of this meeting with colleagues and other local organisations that may be interested in attending. Best wishes, Councillor Jason Ochere Cabinet Member for Business, Jobs and Town Centres
  15. Hi Abe It's taking a frustrating amount of time to get hold of data on this but I understand it should be released in the coming two weeks, with a meeting to discuss it. I realise it would have been better for it to have come out before people respond to the consultation but this wasn't possible. Best wishes James
  16. Hi all alex_b asked about Park Runs. I am told that Parkrun decided to not restart the programme until the end of lockdown restrictions, in July. I do not think this was a Southwark Council decision. Best wishes James
  17. Dear all, Great suggestion on the crossing. We're already investigating the feasibility of such a project. It'd be good to hear what people think of it. Separately, the newest issue of our councillor newsletter is available here: https://www.jamesmcash.com/blog/councillor-newsletter-june-2021 Abe_froeman - there will probably be plans to change the road closures in line with the Dulwich Review. No other major changes planned. Best wishes James
  18. Hi all, A number of residents have contacted me and my fellow councillors about several seemingly connected incidents over recent days. We have been in contact with the police and they have just informed us that an arrest has been made and that they believe all the incidents were committed by this same person. I hope that this is some reassurance. I will let you know if I receive any further information. Best wishes James
  19. Hangars are allocated on the basis of a few factors e.g. demand, proximity of nearest hangar, space available. I don't think the issue is that these criteria are wrong, but that the council struggle to keep up with demand. More money has been put into it so hopefully there will be a significant acceleration over this financial year. Best wishes James
  20. Hi all High Street Recovery Fund The council has launched a High Street Recovery Fund to help support local businesses grow after the pandemic. It opens today and closes on the 27th July. More information is available on the council website here: https://www.southwark.gov.uk/highstreetrecoveryfund abe_froeman I'm afraid I am not sure what you mean by the significant changes to Melbourne Grove. Do you mean the children's activities painted onto the ground? Best wishes James
  21. I've never come across this being a problem in Southwark. Planning regulations can vary and you can imagine there being issues in, for instance, a conservation area. But I would argue for a lenient approach given the need to encourage cycling. Best wishes James
  22. Hi all, The demand for hangars in Goose Green is enormous. The waiting list is longer than the 2nd, 3rd and 4th highest ones combined. The council has recently put more funding into the project so hopefully we'll be able to speed things up. Next year there should be quite a few installed. Hopefully yours will be one of them! Best wishes James
  23. Hello, The meeting was really useful. Lots of ideas came forward about things we can do. We're going to follow up with more specific meetings for different high streets as it is clear that the issues are quite different across the ward. Cheers James
  24. Hi all, Don't worry - we are taking the monitoring process very seriously. It's too early to tell what the outcome will be but I would be very surprised if it does not result in changes being made. Thanks a lot for your support. Best wishes James
