  1. Dear all Wooly - I have looked into this and I am afraid that Nutfield Road is not currently on any resurfacing programme. However I have ensured that it is on the reserve list for if there is scope for any additional roads to be added. This list is determined by an annudal survey of the condition of roads. This happens at the end of the calendar year with the schedule available in January. Hopefully this will result in Nutfield being put onto the list for next year. I am sorry that this is not the answer that you were hoping for. Pengiuin68 - As you say, our local Labour MP Helen Hayes has been doing stellar work on this issue. We councillors have been doing what we can to support her in that but you are right - it might be worth us doing something publicly. I will discuss it with my fellow councillors and work out what might be most effective, including considering your suggestion of writing to Ofcom. This issue demonstrates very clearly the negative effects of privatisation. Royal Mail has decided that having a sorting office in East Dulwich is not profitable. They may well be correct in their assessment! But in my view the question is rather: is there a justifiable community benefit for having one? And the answer to that is demonstrably 'yes'. intexasatthemoment and UVArchitects - Am right in saying that you have already contacted the council about this? If so, could you please forward your communication to me, or CC me in, so that I can try to speed up the process. Best wishes James
  2. Dear XIX Would you mind emailing me with your name and address? I'll look into this. Best wishes James
  3. Hi firstmate No I don't think that's right. As far as I know there has never been a restriction on route in place. The change in route is down to M&S changing its vehicles. Best wishes James
  4. Hi EDmummy The consultation hasn't launched yet so no one has received a letter. You will be contacted when it does I am sure. Best wishes James
  5. Fair points. Fingers crossed it will be ok until the funding is in place for a long term solution. Best wishes James
  6. Hi all This is very exciting! Well done to the East Dulwich Action Group for all your work on this. I previously raised with council officers the risk of the mural being defaced by tags etc. I don't want to speak too soon - and clearly I cannot promise anything! - but I am told that local experience suggests that murals are much less likely to be targeted than blank walls. Perhaps an unwritten code for street artists... Best wishes James
  7. Dear all James - thanks for the link, it's very interesting and something I will definitely follow up. Regarding the general provision of charging points, Southwark is the first council in London to be using the 'Go Ultra Low Carbon' (GULC) scheme to encourage residential charging of electric cars. The aim is that within three years there will be a charging point within walking distance of every Southwark resident. I do not know the details of the specific locations referenced in the Guardian article above but I am assured that the process to roll out 90-odd charging points is currently underway. I suspect that these will cover many of the locations highlighted in the article. spider69 - When a charging point is installed in a lampost it serves up to 4 parking spaces. This means that there is no need for dedicated bays for electric vehicles, particularly while they remain relatively uncommon. Non-electric vehicles will still be able to park in the spaces by the charging point. alex_b - The council is trialling three different payment systems to see which is most effective. I have been reassured that the cost per mile will work out as considerably cheaper than petrol but I do not have precise figures at the moment. I have asked for further information to be sent to me and I will update you when that happens. Best wishes James
  8. Hi all The council is in the process of installing 50 further charging points across the borough. If you have a location that you would like to suggest then do let me know. Best wishes James
  9. Hi all I have previously looked into this issue on behalf of some local residents. The planning permission obtained by M&S has restrictions on the time of deliveries. Specifically condition 6 states: "Servicing in connection with the retail unit should not take place outside of the hours of 07:00 to 22:00 on Mondays to Saturdays or 10:00 to 18:00 on Sunday and Bank and Public Holidays". There has been evidence in the past of this condition not being adhered to, which I have followed up at the time. Please let me know if there are further violations of this condition. However, regarding the routes that deliveries take there are no restrictions. Previously all deliveries were through the front side (main entrance). This was mainly due to the sizes of delivery vehicles which were too long and unable to turn onto the back of the store from Chesterfield Grove. However, they now have special small delivery vans which can easily access into the back of the store/car park from Chesterfield Grove and hence residents would have noticed these changes. They still have one long lorry once or twice a week which still uses the front main entrance. So in short, if you see deliveries taking place outwith the times stipulated then this is a planning violation and should be reported, but there are no restrictions on which route the delivery lorries take. This application was well before my time so I cannot comment on the planning process, and only on the enforcement of the planning conditions since. I hope this is helpful. Best wishes James
  10. Hi all As noted above, I raised this on my thread just over three weeks ago. A full consultation will launch fairly soon. I know that opinion on this issue is very divided, with strong feelings on each side. I hope that we can reach a solution that everyone can live with. Best wishes James
  11. Dear all Thanks, as always, for your comments on here. Wooly - let me look into this and get back to you as soon as I can. Sue - I was aware of this, and mentioned it in the thread above on September 2nd. There will be a full consultation on it launching soon. Clearly this will be an issue that divides people. During my election campaign, parking was one of the key issues to come up and I would say that views were fairly evenly divided between support and opposition to a CPZ. What both sides shared was their intensity of feeling! There are lots of different factors to consider in the issue. Best wishes James
  12. Dear malleymoo I have some more information on the Peckham Rye / East Dulwich Road junction leak but I am afraid that it is not very good news. The council put up the barriers and reported the issue to Thames Water back on 7th August. They have sent over a job reference but no timeframes for completion. The council is chasing up Thames Water but sadly the issue is now in their hands. I am sorry that I am not able to provide any more information. Best wishes James
  13. Hello all Bcam - I have posted on the other thread as well, but just so we have a record here: "Hi all I am very sorry to hear about all of this. I have raised it with our local Goose Green Safer Neighbourhood team. I am told that in the past six months there have been three reports raised regarding crimes of this type: 2 attempted thefts and 1 theft. There have been three arrests. I suspect that the number of reports means that some incidents have not been reported. If you do witness or experience a crime like this then please do report it. I understand that the police will post further information on here in due course. As noted above, cuts to the police from the Tory and Tory-LibDem governments has really affected police numbers in the area but we are lucky to have a very committed team working in Goose Green nonetheless. Please don't hesitate to get in touch if there is anything I can do. Best wishes James" Sue - Thank you very much, that's kind of you. Best wishes James

  15. Dear all Jakido - I have to say I am inclined to agree with Penguin68, that turning these roads into no-through roads would create more problems that it would solve. However, if you have specific concerns about any of these roads (speeding etc) then do let me know and I can see what can be done to address this. Colville09 - Apologies for the format - uploaded from my phone on my way to work so I didn?t have a lot of control over formatting. I hope that the version kindly uploaded by Siduhe works for you. Spider69 - I am afraid that that?s the only map I have. My best advice would be to look at the image in conjunction with Google Maps. Slarti B - the consultation won?t open until October or so, hence not being on the website. I just wanted to give everyone on here advance notice. Bcam - I presume it was you who emailed about this as well. My colleagues and I are looking into the issue and I hope we can get back to you with more information when we have it. Best wishes all, and have a great Sunday. James
  16. Dear all Redjam - I have spoken to Helen Hayes and as I suspected this is an issue that she is already working. I have offered to help in any way I can but it makes sense for her to continue to lead on it at the moment. She is currently waiting to hear back from the Royal Mail and will let me know when she has more information, which I will duly pass on. Siduhe - I have attached a map of the CPZ consultation areas, I hope it?s sufficiently comprehensible! Best wishes James
  17. Yes, which is definitely a point against them!
  18. Dear all kiera - there is a consultation being launched soon on two potential controlled parking zones. One is in East Dulwich, and the other is 'Peckham West'. Every street in Goose Green falls into one or the other. The consultation will identify what appetite there is for controlled parking in different areas. The consultation area is quite big but the results will not be all-or-nothing. In other words, if controlled parking is popular in some areas but not in others then the former can have controlled parking and the latter not. For my part, I want to be guided by the outcome of this consultation. I have had this issue raised with me countless times and people have strong opinions on both sides. redjam - I agree that the closing of the sorting office is a disaster. The Royal Mail should never have been privatised. Helen Hayes MP has done a lot of work on this. I do not want to reinvent the wheel so I have contacted her to see if she has already investigated it. If I can add any weight to this then I will happily do so. Best wishes James
  19. Hi malleymoo Let me look into it and get back to you. Best wishes James
  20. Robert Poste?s Child - I have looked into the women?s changing room matter. As expected, the issue arose from there being a substantial increase in use of the swimming pool during the hotter period. A number of measures (signage etc) were put in place to deal with this but clearly they were not effective enough. The centre manager sends her apologies and has committed to increasing the frequency of checks during future busy periods. Hopefully you will have now seen an improvement in the cleanliness of the changing rooms. However if you - or any other customers - have specific concerns then contact the centre to receive compensation. I hope this is helpful. Best wishes James
  21. Thanks for organising this Pugwash. I was shocked by the number of vehicles vastly exceeding the speed limit. The council is going to put out for consultation some proposals for speed calming measures in the coming weeks. I will keep you all posted. Best wishes James
  22. Hi all Robert Poste?s Child - thanks for raising this, I will look into it and get back to you. Lynne - if you email me with your name and address, and ideally a photo of the front garden, then I will see if the council can do anything. Best wishes James
  23. Hi all I would definitely agree with posters above that if you do not want the application to go ahead then it's best to submit an objection through the Southwark website. Rules around planning mean that decisions can only be based on what are called 'material conditions' which include: Overlooking/loss of privacy Loss of light or overshadowing Parking Highway safety Traffic Noise Effect on listed building and conservation area Layout and density of building Design, appearance and materials Government policy Disabled persons' access Proposals in the Development Plan Previous planning decisions (including appeal decisions) Nature conservation So if you emphasise these areas then the objection will be given more weight. Best wishes James
  24. As I say, if there is strong appetite for more benches then we can look into it, but in the meantime let?s focus on locating the three that we have already funded. Best wishes James
