hello When my son was christened he had lots of cutlery sets and cups etc... one great idea was a personalised passport cover. I bought one recently for my nephew and it was about 35 pounds from aspinall, you can order online in a range of colours. I felt quite emotional when I opened my sons thinking of all the places he might visit and discover throughout his life, and the gift was from my brother who's a pilot, so it was a really appropriate gift. hello diane my son benjamin had a lovely time recently playing in goose green playground with your son sonny... He's asked several times if we can play again but we didn't swap numbers and haven't met since. It was a few mondays ago and they played in the leaves! If you fancy meeting up so the boys can play please send?me?a?pm.... Helen

hello We've stopped, it was just too upsetting for all of us we'll try again another time! h

he did choose this potty... I'm feeling really awful, and don't want to cause him this amount of distress and upset, its not right... Will see how he goes today and tomorrow then may abandon.... Has anyone abandoned potty training and had a better attempt later? or do u wish you d stuck with it? All feedback gratefully received!! Thanks H

Ok , its been a week now and no change. My son still just wants to wee in his pants...anyone had a similar experience? He did sit on the toilet seat in his trousers this morning, but no wee... I feel like I can't do anything right...softly softly not working and strong encouragement leads to more resistance! He gets so upset and his behaviour deteriorates the more desperate for a wee he becomes. He starts dancing around and can't keep still but just won't go near potty or loo. Stickers. Chocolates, all having no influence... He's very bright so I feel like if we abandon this he'll remember and next time we try will know to hold out and we'll stop. Aaargh! H

hello I'm keeping everything v low key today to see what happens. Credit to him though, he has amazing bladder control and is holding it for hours but then gets v distressed when he wees. he's not interested in using the toilet either. Its early days I keep reminding myself! I do feel bad though as he's clearly v upset. H

I know we're supposed to ignore accidents but its so hard to be calm when he knows he needs a wee and just refuses to use the potty.... No I'll do it on the floor he says.... Argh

sounds like I'm doing right things...on sat he kept trying voluntarily but got frustrated when nothing happened. Then he did a huge wee on potty and was elated...we gave lots of praise and thought W?'d cracked it but Since then its been more difficult. He'll happily pee himself and then say clean it up mummy! I'm leaving him to feel uncomfortable for a bit too... now we just can't get him to sit on potty at all! one step forward two steps back... Hope it will just get better! H

hi fushja Yep we tried the sitting thing...think we'll just have to keep trying. we'll get there I'm sure, not sure how tho! H

hmm, he's actually almost 3 and we tried about 8 months ago...it was a disaster last time! He s doing so much better this time and is a bright boy... I actually think we've waited too long and he was too comfortable in and attached to his nappies. I don't think we should go back this time... Incidentally he would happily sit in a soiled nappy for hours and hated having them changed. Bribery isn't working either... H

hello Sorry folks, another potty post. day 4 in the potty training house...b is doing well and holding his wee in for ages. We've had a few successes but he's clearly scared of the potty and a number of times has weed everywhere rather than use the potty right next to him! any advice for getting over this? He tells me when he needs a wee but then just refuses to use potty. No no, I don't want to, he says as he pees everywhere. Doesn't want to stand up or use toilet instead either. Its so frustrating as the couple of times he has done it in the potty he's been elated! what can we do? Thanks H

experiences of reflux treatment other than gaviscon
little h replied to Belle's topic in The Family Room Discussion
hi there There's a posting I started a few months ago you might want to look up, as I was experiencing similar with our then newborn. Ethan is now almost 6 months and gaviscon and omeprazole have helped turn him from a crying and in pain baby to a smiley happy baby. We were on rinitidine with the gaviscon at first but it didnt work as well for us so our dr switched us to omeprazole, which did the trick much better. We had a couple of awful relapse days last week and so our dr adjusted the dosage and now he's fine again... I hear it all gets better after weaning and when baby is more mobile. Good luck, its so awful seeing your baby in such pain and not knowing what to do isn't it. H -
ah, thanks Helen

hi there does anyone know of a charity shop locally that takes old buggies? I've got a m+p stroller that I don't want to throw away but is a bit too worn to sell, in my opinion. I tried the mind shop but they won't take baby things... Any ideas other than freecycle or gumtree? Thanks h

interested to read all these comments as am currently experiencing the baby too big for carry cot bit and not quite ready for the proper seat problem. Have tried lining the section with a sheepskin liner but e is not happy in it.... Might have to just try him more in the proper seat... He's 4 months next week and not a particularly large baby... On the plus side the p+t is easy to push around, but its a pain to get in and out of the car. my toddler is 2yr 8 mths and is almost too big for top seat when perched on the top but fits better in full doubles mode... hello We're off to cornwall next week...does anyone have any recommendations for toddler activities or trips? We're staying near padstow Thanks H

I totally agree having seen it earlier, not much for the little ones at the moment, yet they will be able to get to it easily from the one o'clock club so will want to try it all out. A missed opportunity here I think... b waslooking through the barriers today...,'where's the tunnel gone? Where's the slide?' he asked' indeedy... H

hi Does anyone know if the new one o'clock/ peckham rye playground is opening today? There was talk of it opening this afternoon... Thanks H

hi fushia Sounds great...can you just turn up or are there specific times do you know? Any good for smaller babies too or is it too cold? I'll have a look ont'internet... H

hi I know there have been several threads about swimming lessons but my question is slightly different. My 2.5 yr old ha only been swimming twice, when very young. We want to take him swimming and get him used to the water, then hopefully get some lessons later - if we can ever manage to get into any, they're always booked up with hellish queues. Which pools are good for a splash about woth out having to book? Ideally somewhere warm with a shallow bit he can stand in, or with a slope or steps to access easily. Also what would be good to take...arm bands? Float? When I was little we just used to turn up at our local pool for a swim... all seems so organised and busy here... thanks H

lots of great suggestions here thanks! My son loves rosies walk, which I also remember from my childhood. Current faves include room on the broom, we're going on a bear hunt, and the night pirates. The night pirates caused a stir with my dad...which really made me laugh! It's about girl pirates and an adventure with a little boy called tom... My dad loved it until the pirates were revealed to be little girls...' that's ridiculous, you don't get girl pirates, its political correctness gone mad!!' he huffed. My son loves it though, especially the bit where the grown up captain patch shouts'if you don't bring me my treasure back, I'll tell my mum!' H
