  1. I too live on East Dulwich Road. I knew it was busy road when I moved in, but even so I was surprised at the speeding that goes on, so I know where you're coming from. Barely anyone sticks to the 20mph limit on the stretch alongside Goose Green, even during the day. At night I've seen/heard people flying past at easily over 50mph - which would be a band C offence if you were caught (6 points and a big fine). There was a recent thread about speeding on Barry Road where I raised this, but nothing came of it. The residents of Barry Road did manage to get some kind of consultation started though, so there might be hope if the residents around Goose Green pushed the local councillors. Personally I think the speed limit signage on EDR is lacking, and a quick win would be to just put a few extra 20mph signs up.
  2. I missed this thread the first time around, but personally I'd be more concerned about the enormous loading bay they are going to put at the front of the building (for M&S) - which from what I can tell is going to eat into a large slice of the pavement outside the station (needs to be able to cater for 11m vehicles)
  3. Hi James - glad to hear the council are looking at this. What, if anything, can we do to get this process extended to cover the East Dulwich Road too? Earlier in the thread a couple of us mentioned the stretch between Lordship Lane/Grove Vale and Adys Road/Crystal Palace Road as a speeding hotspot. In terms of physical measures - in my view a nice easy win would be to simply make sure that clear signage is installed. And I've always wondered how effective those 'slow down' signs are, the ones that flash up when you're driving above the limit (presumably they have speed radars installed?).

Totally agree. Easily the least complied with 20mph zone I've ever come across, in particular at night
  5. I see, which does make sense if they've payrolled them (notwithstanding the Class 1A NICs, but this is their issue, not yours - it doesn't have an impact on your tax return). But this begs the question, why are HMRC insisting on including additional income if there's no P11D? And how are they calculating the value of these benefits? In the absence of a P11D HMRC should accept that you have no taxable benefits to report
  6. Hi there, when it comes to employment income HMRC follow a formulaic approach: Form P60 income + Form P11D benefits + tips (if any) = taxable employment income If your taxable benefits truly have been 'payrolled' (and therefore included in your P60 figure) then this should have been reflected on your form P11D (shown as an amount 'made good' or already taxed), or in some cases I know that employers simply won't produce a P11D at all (although strictly they should for Class 1A national insurance). This would prevent you from declaring the same income twice - since your P11D benefits would say zero. Without knowing all the details it's hard to say obviously, but if HMRC are insisting that they need to include the P11D benefits figures in your taxable income, then I can only imagine that it's because your P11D benefits are not showing as zero. Which suggests that either a) your employer has made an error in producing your P11D or b) the benefits aren't taxed via payroll in the way that you think (in my experience, HR departments can struggle to articulate and explain how this works). So it may be worth following up with your employer and questioning how they've calculated the numbers on your P11D. Unfortunately you're unlikely to get anywhere arguing with HMRC that they shouldn't include the P11D benefits figures - as far as they are concerned, if it's on the P11D, then they'll include it and tax it. Hope that helps P.S. as I've just seen Penguin68's response - I would caution against manually adjusting your own P60 figure, as this is a sure fire way to set alarms off when you submit your self assessment return
  7. Unfortunately there was a break-in today (14 August) at Crown House on East Dulwich Road - above Evans Cycles. Reasonably sure it happened between 11.30am and 4pm, but can't be 100%. It appears the culprit managed to gain access to the building somehow and then force their way into a number of flats, taking small valuables. The police have been informed and have taken forensic evidence. If you were a customer at Evans Cycles this afternoon, or just passing by, and you saw/noticed anything that could help us then please do let me know. Thanks Ry
