If you can make the opening hours work (because of the College) then Dulwich College Sports Club is very good and well equipped. From memory, four power racks, heavy DBs, GHR and a cable machine. Australia and Romania used it for their training base in the 2015 Rugby World Cup and the College itself has a high-level sports programme, hence the decent kit. -
Another big thumbs up for Niko after finding him through recommendations on here. After two other plumbers from here said the job was too small, Niko was prompt in his reply and came over as soon as was convenient for us. He was diligent and thorough investigating the problem and was able to recommend replacement parts that weren't crazy expensive. He came back to fit everything a few weeks later and had great communication and tidiness throughout both visits. He's also a top man to boot! Simon

Top recommendation here for Tom- born and bred Dulwich! Tom came to swap over radiator which should have been simple enough but after testing the boiler post fitting it seems our boiler was on the way out reporting three faults. However, Tom was able to whittle down the fault to the circuit board and was able to get a replacement part on the same day and fit it so we had hot water available. Something which we definitely needed with a 2 year old in the house. Tom was great in communicating the issue and getting the parts to fix it, pushing back jobs to make sure he didn't leave pur house without everything working. We'll definitely be using him for any future boiler issues. Mobile 07944921626 Thanks, Simon

A further recommendation for James who was able to come round at short notice to fix my faulty boiler as we were without hot/water heating- not great with a 1 year old in the house! Prompt and great communication as before. James's number is: 07394 912877

I found James on here and got in touch yesterday afternoon half expecting my job to me too small as it was only a dripping kitchen tap (I'm an office worker so no practical skills to attempt fixing myself!). After I messaged he called within an hour to find a few more details before offering some advice. Due to an emergency job he couldn't come around straight away but he sent a link to a new tap to buy which he then picked up on our behalf and fitted this morning. Incredibly pleased with his speed and service and he seems to be an all round good bloke too. Would not hesitate to use him again and thoroughly recommend him. Simon

I can absolutely second this. We had a damp issue on an external wall in our kitchen due to some of the previous owner of our house's dodgy flooring work; the water was coming in under the back door and rising. John was the only professional to locate the source of the damp during the quoting process which says a lot for the other workmen out there in this field. He is an absolute grafter, holds high standards of work and is a good communicator. There were a few other 'snags' he found when uncovering the previous owners work and was able to fix them too. We've now been through two winters after his work and there is no issues whatsoever- highly recommend. Simon

May be worth looking at St Olave's Grammar in Orpington as our very own MP- Harriett Harman- sent one of her sons there. I'm not sure if they have distance criteria though

A recommendation for Solomon here too. Am yet to visit him in ED (in a good way- no injuries!), but have been treated by him in the past for a low back issue while he was practicing in the City. Knowledgeable and friendly and would often have a natter with him walking over London Bridge in the mornings if we happened to be on the same train in. Will definitely be my first port of call should any niggles arise in future. Simon

I have previously used Aston and once again he was my "go to" handyman for some minor jobs around the house that I just do not have the skills for. He was in to hang some large picture frames and mirrors, hang some shelving in the nursery and fit some lighting hooks. As ever, his communication was spot on, he was tidy and was available at short notice. Thanks Aston! Simon

I live at the top of the Rye on the Nunhead side and am currently going through the whole rigmarole with my insurance company around getting it fixed following some large cracking appearing last summer during the heatwave. To complicate matters further a large Ash tree which is contributing to much of the issue is on Southwark Council land who are certainly dragging their heels on the matter. 13 months in and no remedial work on the horizon but it is all insured and I'm glad it is! Anyone who suggests going private to rectify the issue (no matter how minor) and then not declaring it when asked if you have any history subsidence by an Insurance company is committing 'non-disclosure' which could result in future claims being declined. I'm not trying to scaremonger- I work in Insurance!

Another recommendation for Aaron from me after finding him via this thread. I had him in three days last week removing two ceiling roses in the dining and sitting room then plastering over a smooth finish and also removing and replacing some coving. Really pleased with the work, great communication throughout and a pleasant chap to deal with. Sill definitely use him again if I require any more work like this. Simon

Another satisfied customer of Aston's. We had Aston come round and change some light fittings and switches plus do some plaster filling to rectify to shoddy job the previous owner had attempted. Very happy with the work he has done for us and will not hesitate getting him back in for future jobs we have. Simon
