Purple faced? I'd suggest purple headed. Like a womb ferret. Christ, I don't even have my child yet and I'm feeling a need to defend myself. This is ridiculous. I propose invoking Brendan's Law - if in doubt, try not to be a fuck-wit.
  2. Fire up the charabanc! Sounds fantastic and I could learn from some masters before I get my home-made smoker going.....

Campaign for the beatification of Chris > Hughton gathering momentum. Disappointing loss for Leeds there. A draw would have been fair. We had more possession and chances throughout but Brum hit well on the break and always looked dangerous when going forward. I'm happy with our current form though after a terrible start to the season.
  4. Blimey - I'm buggered on future pub visits. Either I upset the old men due to my rugby top, silly hair (jealousy is a terrible thing) and an opinion they don't like or I'm contributing to the decline in traditional values where kids were seen and not heard and left outside the pub with an arrowroot biscuit because I will dare bring them inside and allow them to be comfortable and confident amongst adults. You know, like the Spanish. And if I don't go to these places then they'll close down and I'm partially responsible for the decline of the great British pub. Help me.

  6. Utterly ridiculous by the IRB. If NZ are allowed to do their silly war dance before a game (and I think given it's history that's ok) then I think teams should be able to respond how they want and there is no better way of accepting a challenge than by laying one down. Just like France did, Wales did in 2008 and Ireland in Alan's clip. Or just ignore it like David Campese and then win the game for your team.

  8. No - you're not. Loft insulation and cavity wall insulation both make more financial sense in terms of value for money. The only other factor to bear in mind would be that good double glazing adds value to your home and makes it more likely to sell promptly.
  9. Quite. I think having McCaw at flanker is actually ignoring the fact he was below par except perhaps the game against Oz where he taught Pocock a lesson. Dussatoir was a much better player for the whole tournament. So was Warburton aside from one moment of madness. Servat was better than any other hooker including Mealamu. No England players in that XV - and no complaints from me on that count.
  10. I foraged some crab apples from Peckham Rye Park last week to make crab apple jelly with. I've previously harvested some cherry-plums from Warwick Gdns and made 5litres of cherry plum wine which is now a fine after-work refresher.
  11. Ah - clearly you haven't been a fan since the first two (and first two episodes of the next) seasons! That, PGC, was Tom Quinn who headed Section D for the first two series. He disappeared in murky circumstances and ended up in the even murkier world of private security. Hence when a "private contractor" was brought in to 'deal with' the pesky Ruskies he made a wonderful cameo. A reward for those of us who have stuck with the show fromt he beginning. Not like you johnny-come-latelys. Tsk.
  12. The BBC go for 10 out of 15 for their team of the tournament. Although some of these are wrong. Very wrong.
  13. And when the inevitable decline in standards occurs: The shit coming out of Uranus these days....
  14. Meanwhile, the Smurfs are racist anti-semites.
  15. Bobby - name 12 restaurants on Lordship Lane worse than Barcelona. Go.....
  16. *Bob* - I've never even been to Spain so have no idea what "real" tapas is like although I would imagine like most "foreign" foods it is pretty varied both regionally and in terms of quality. Fortunately I possess tastebuds that can discern that out of three local tapas/Spanish restaurants locally that I can think of, Barcelona is easily the least exciting or interesting. So why go there? It's not even cheap. But your inverse snobbery will no doubt hearten all those who refuse to use a lisp when ordering the choritho. Plebs.
  17. Forum majority opinion, with which I agree, is that it's pretty sub standard and bland in tired surroundings that verge on a pastiche.
  18. What you talkin' 'bout Willis?
  19. It's very nice. I've been a few times including to their wine and sherry tasting evenings which are very good value. I think the food rivals tapas anywhere else in London but prices are on the high side especially for drinks. A couple of sherries and 4 tapas plates will set you back ?50. Chris the owner is a top bloke and, whilst I've not had it, I hear good things about their Sunday paella.
  20. DJKQ - I doubt you will find a butcher who can fulfill that criteria. All animals for sale have to be slaughtered in an approved abbatoir. I'm guessing the processes involved there upset you? The best possible solution would be to buy direct from the farm gate where the farmer can tell you about the animals slaughter and whether they made it as pleasant as possible. I would recommend the following for pork, lamb and poulty (sadly they don't do beef) and they will deliver in bulk if you are able to take the quantity. Alternatively, split with a friend. Hidden Valley Pigs
  21. I would suggest that first, we need to draw a distinction between true allergies and intolerances. An allergy is an immediate physical reaction to a tiny amount of allergen ? for example, when someone suffers immediate swelling of the lips or an even more serious reaction to even a trace amount of peanut. In contrast, a food intolerance is a delayed reaction to a large amount of the problem substance. For an allergy, there is a bona fide test. For an intolerance there is none. True allergies cause acute responses; intolerances cause chronic, long-term conditions. One symptom could be modern food production methods. Wheat intolerance now seems almost "fashionable" but I wonder whether those who feel uncomfortable after eating bread are aware of the process that goes into making it. The Chorley Wood Process means that modern bread contains high levels of yeast and fats to ensure a light, fluffy loaf. These, whilst "natural" ingredients are unlikely to be beneficial for the human gut in such quantities.
  22. Went there at the weekend and was very impressed. The red wine is a lovely soft Italian - very easy drinking for a very reasonable ?5. The organic EV olive oil is also very good quality. I've yet to try the other produce we bought but it was all pretty reasonable and friendly service.
  23. This would be more my taste.... http://steampunkworkshop.com/images/M19.jpg
  24. Hearing rumours that Phil Hammond from DfT moves to MoD and Chris Grayling returns to the front bench with the transport portfolio.
  25. Letwin will be fine. Although if he is meant to be one of the thinkers in the cabinet with a "mind like a steel trap" I hate to think what the rest of them are like. I've already backed Owen Paterson as the new Sec of State but other good punts for those of a betting nature would be: Andrew Mitchell (favourite) David Davis Malcolm Rifkind
