  1. If you think the head shots are bad, click on their names to see some of them in "swim-suit" poses! And don't get me started on the ones that didn't make the winners page....I knew radiation led to deformaties but I thought they were 2nd generation?!

Well, there isn't quite a Rose of Volgograd competition but the annual Miss Nuclear Russia is quite a hoot. If you're Russian and work in the nuclear power/nuclear weapons industry, this is the beauty competition for you. This year's winners can be found here and I'm sure with her impeccable Russian parentage, Dulwich Mum would beat the lot of them hands down. Do you think they glow in the dark?
  3. To be fair, we ravaged their women and pillaged their country for a few hundred years....they're just doing it back now. Have you not seen Braveheart? Just be glad we no longer have to let our wives sleep with the Lord of the Manor on your wedding night! Can't see too many women being thrilled with the prospect of ol' Gordy winking at them with his good eye before having "neo-endogenous growth" and his wicked way. ::o
  4. The fact that Des Browne is actually Scottish probably means he's got an army of picts coming down south on a rampage of rape and pillage!

  6. Ahhh a gym above a pub....sounds like a good deal! Is it still there? I quite fancy learning how to throw the odd jab jab cross combo. I managed to stay up till some ungodly hour to catch it and I'm glad I did. An absolute cracker. Mayweather would be a massive fight but I wonder if, with that one, Hatton may just have bitten off more than he could chew. Edit: Indeed the gym above the Blue Moon still exists. Clinton McKenzie Boxercise
  7. Anyone see the fight on Saturday night/Sunday morning? Any Foum Fight Fans?
  8. So.....the Gardens. Good, bad, indifferent? Local amenities worth venturing to nearby? The shops on East Dulwich Road along from Goose Green for instance? Anything decent? From memory there's a pottery/cafe place, a fish and chippie, a restaurant/cafe/bar place. Any more of note?

Harsh but fair. .....And funny. :)) I'm sure your two delightful children don't even eat sausages (very common) do they DM? Although your polish "manny" may convert them onto kielbasa. I'd watch out. It'll be saurkraut next.
  10. Damn, those are nice. Perhaps underneath the pebbledashing and PVC windows, my new flat looked like that! At least the inside is very nice. I do find it slightly strange that you happen to have a photo of this lying around....it's not your own castle by any chance? :)
  11. Errrm....perhaps further down they do. I'm closer East Dulwich Road and mine looks distinctly like a pebble-dashed Victorian town house. Those castle people are clearly vey lucky!
  12. I'd be interested in other forum-ite's suggestions of things round that way as I'm moving into Oakhurst grove next Saturday, which is just round the corner. It's also nice and quiet as the road is blocked off preventing it being a rat run bypass of LL. Apparently the Gold Lee chinese is very good?
  13. It would be veering wildly off topic to ask why....but why?
  14. Hmmm....maybe you're right. Barry Manilow seems to be preferred over The Boss anyway. I can't compete with that!
  15. Ooooh.....music and coffee, very boho! Heh. I think it would be marvellous. Have you seen High Fidelity, James? They start off small, get a up and coming musician to do an intimate gig, word spreads, smaller bands play one-off shows, then a big name hears about it and agrees to do a charity show, then it spreads and before long Bruce Springstein is performing in a coffee shop cum record store in East Dulwich in front of 50 fans and forum-ites. People....make it happen!
  16. 'Tis sad indeed that ED does not appear to have such a place for leather-jacketed, rim-spectacled, goatee-bearded vinyl geeks like myself and your, no doubt delightful MrMadWorld74, to hang around in on Saturday mornings debating the rights and wrongs of whether Stevie Wonders output in the 60s and early 70s makes up for his crimes against music in more recent times. Anyone know if there is a good music (i.e. not instruments and the like) anywhere nearby. I'm at a loss. Can't see us getting one underneath a block of executive flats though, can you?
  17. Coffee, tea, pianos??!! Could we perhaps have something useful where people buy things they need? Like CDs and rare vinyl mono editions of deleted Bob Dylan albums perhaps?? B)
  18. You can get more info here
  19. Why do I sense you may well be a cyclist yourself Asset? ;-) I will keep both options open. It may well depend on showering facilities at the other end of the journey.
  20. Thanks Huguenot. Glad to be here, you all seem a friendly bunch. I'd been keeping an eye on you all before posting - I think it's known as lurking - and recognise intelligence, wit and civility when I see it! Your option seems pretty good. Hadn't thought of that. Thanks.
  21. Blimey, an hour! I moving from deepest, darkest Surrey to try and cut my commute and instead it will be longer. M train from Epsom goes straight into Waterloo/Victoria/London Bridge in under an hour. It would be alright if I was still in my current job at Victoria as I'd get the train from Peckham Rye or if I was based at Guys Hospital near LB as I could go from ED Stattion but, in the words of Don Cheadle in Oceans 11, this 'nauses fings right up. Many thanks for the advice though. Cycling seems tempting. And it's free.
  22. Ant Thanks for that. Any idea how long the 176 takes in rush hour(s) on average? Cheers.
  23. It's a bit off topic 'coz its a different destination, but could someone recommend the most efficient and/or cost effective way of getting from East Dulwich (I move to Oakhurst Grove next month) to St Thomas' Hospital next to Waterloo Station. Thanks.
  24. I apologise if this has been mentioned in the previous five pages (it would have taken some while to get through it all and heard the same arguments over and over) but I would like to raise an issue that is aside from the rights and wrongs of dog ownership and it's "dangers". Peckham Rye, which I assume would be covered by this ban, is a common i.e. a piece of common land. This entitles the surrounding community to have certain entitlements. Traditionally these have taken the form of being allowed to take their animals to graze (we're talking sheep and cattle rather than poodles I imagine), the right to fish, the right to remove sods of turf and limited amounts of wood. Incidently, if you were able to erect it ina day and set up a hearth you could have your home on a common without contravening planning law but if all of this applies to the land I would think Southwark council would have some trouble passing a by-law ensuring all animals were to be kept on leads. I would think taking a herd of sheep down to graze on the Rye would highlight the ridiculousness of the councils position. Parks are a different matter however, and the council are well within their rights to issue any edicty on park behaviour without consultation or legal amendment.
