  1. Well I'd fancy it too for small stakes. With enough people the gains are significant. Plus the Duke's dining room is almost the perfect space for it.
  2. Under the new Gambling Act pubs can have small stakes betting on card games. How about a poker night?
  3. Great choice Piers. Always a winner with me. This was the track used at this year's Labour conference. Now it may be lyrically suspect but WHAT a tune! And to think we had to put up with D-Ream: I could dance to this all night long - and have done.
  4. Did you look very hard? And that's a small part of the healthcare proposals. Seems well documented to me. And you have to bear in mind the short attention span of the electorate Piers. They're not like you. They are not prepared to read reams of paperwork detailing complex financial instruments for the redistribution of wealth. They want a soundbite.
  5. You Safa's....constantly segregating your paperclips!
  6. Not the phantom door-step shitter again?! HE'S BACK!!
  7. Have you been stealing it again?
  8. No one'll touch his bum though.
  9. Of course they don't. They don't have passports either. Jeremy is right about "values" though. It's almost the polar opposite of the UK. Nothing about policies and all about ideology. Pro-Gun or Anti-Gun? Pro-Life or Pro-Choice? Christian or Heathen? The policies on the environment, poverty, healthcare, foreign policy, crime, education - for vast swathes of the interior it all boils down to those three issues. Palin, and to a lesser extent McCain, represent those views. The threat of terror has been used by the last administration as a handy cover-all to divert from a lack of policy making. And it was bought hook, lione and sinker by a public high on cheap credit, rampant patriotism and religious fervour. Only now has the house of cards come tumbling down. More and more bodies are shipped home from Iraqistan; thousands are homeless from repossessions and the aftermath of Katrina(!) and the economy is in ruins. And yet still they'll vote Republican. I mean, WTF!? Heck, I was watching the Daily Show and they conducted a poll showing 30% of the electorate think Obama's a muslim?!! What chance do you stand.
  10. Yes, I know it was a monkey in Hartlepool. For spying for the French during the Napoleonic Wars. Then it was H'Angus the Monkey who became Mayor on the promise of free bananas to school children (which never happened btw). But I though we could go one better with a rabbit. Spying for the North Koreans! Is there an East Dulwich version of the Stasi we could call on?
  11. Is that because you're a spod, Piers?
  12. Can East Dulwich be the next Hartlepool and hang a rabbit for spying? Could bring us some much needed notoriety.
  13. Look forward to you visiting League One, Piers. Come on down, the waters balmy.
  14. I'm double posting this (forgive me Admin for I have sinned) here and in the "Things to make you laugh" thread due to it's relevence there but this is great: The Fuhrer is a Sheffield United fan
  15. I'v got a Holy Hand Grenade of Antioch in my shed. That'll get the bugger but the instructions are complicated. Especially if you can't count.
  16. Pack it in already - you've got your own thread in the lounge for this chav/gay crap. Don't shaft this thread as well.
  17. Is not the point about Jack White that his duet with Alicia Keys is feckin' dreadful! Another Way To Die - Well I suppose it's difficult to get something to rhyme with "Quantum" or "Solace".
  18. To go back to the lawyer West Ham are going to need, surely: http://www.xenix.ch/_img/1_programm/movie/1077.jpg But back to the football. Aresenal were imperious last night. The commentators on 5live ran out of superlatives. No wonder Wenger never buys anyone these days. He can just bide his time. And as a Leeds fan: a) Through to the next round after beating Jeff "Hartlepool" Stelling last night. Give us a big team at home in the next round please. Except Arsenal. b) As much as it pains me to say it, my sympathies do rest with the Blades on the whole Tevez issue. But it'll never go anywhere.
  19. Councillor Carnellti?
  20. McNulty's accent improves with each series - back in 1 and 2 there are some real moments of "wtf was that he just said" - it is all forgiven however, for one episode where, for reasons I shall not divulge, McNulty has to pretend to be English and do the whole Englishmen pretending to be an American pretending to be an Englishman schtick. Brilliant.
  21. Shiiiiiit! Sweet as. I'll be in touch asap. If you PM me your mobile number I'll let you know the next time I'm back "in country". Cheers.
  22. Am I the only one who thinks that by adopting the nom de plume "whome?" that the O is in fact an already registered forumite with a deesire for further anonymity? And a retort from the OP wouldn't go amiss either. As a supporter of a football team who don' get any tv coverage any more I can honestly say that I now tend to avoid pubs showing it. I go to a pub for a drink and a chat and this often proves difficult with a big screen tv and cheering fans. The nostalgia the OP is after also seems to be a pretty narrow timespan. Footall in pubs has only existed since the Premier League arrived in '92 and yet within 15 years the type of pub he/she wants no longer exists!? And to echo AFN and SeanMcG, the old Page2 was, erm, dreadful. The new Duke is marvellous. 'Nuff said.
  23. Should we even care? Can they add up in their head? Do a bit of subraction and multiplication? MAybe work out the area of a wall for painting? Good. Job done. Quadratic equations? Algebra? Geometry? Bloody waste of time.
  24. No, I don't think it has been asked before. Where Inside72 (RIP) used to be. Opposite globo-mega-vido-rental-corp. Next to the post office. Nearly.

Ta, Simon.
