For the last three weeks the Saturday Guardian has had no middle section or has not been available at all. does anyone know what is going on?

He opened his first restaurant, Chez Nico, in 1973 and famously decreed that no diner could have a second G&T, get the lighting altered or ask for salt

In 1973 the Ladenises opened their first restaurant in Dulwich, south London; by 1981, in a second restaurant in Battersea, they had their first Michelin star;by 1984 they had two and held on to them in a succession of immaculate restaurants in Berkshire, Pimlico and the present Great Portland Street premises north-east of Oxford Circus.

Thank you for this greedy girl and others it's amazing what memories a simple question opens up. We live close by in Dunstans road and moved in in 2002. I remember eating in the restaurant when it was Two trees and I recollect the menu was French with some Moroccan Tagine dishes ( maybe an influence from L'auberg?) then what is now the current Italian Si Mangia was renamed Two Trees and the original restaurant closed and has been shut ever since. Looking forward to having a French Restaurant on our doorstep and a new coffee shop as well. I didn't know that Mr Liu used to be Chez Nico when did that change?

The work being done on the old two Trees restaurant has revealed a frontage called L'Auberge tel 01 299 2211. Does anyone remember it?

I have been trying to book a badminton Court at Harris Girls without success as the time that I want 8-9pm is always unavailable due to block booking; the only available time appears to be 5-6pm. Can anyone help with recommending where myself and my friends can book a Court in ED, without having to join a club, on a week night between 7-9pm? I would be very grateful for any recommendations, Many thanks Marco.

I can also recommend Andy (07564 194363). He cleared out the gutter at the front of our house, did a very good job, and very helpful and friendly.

Thanks for the advice mike e

Can anyone recommend a mixed/girls football club for Under 12's in the SE London area? Would like the session to be Saturday morning if possible.

Train from Honor Oak Park and then Jubilee Line from Canada Water to Stratford. Time from home, to being inside the Park, was just 1 hour yesterday!

And sorry about errors in the possessive pronoun in the previous post, I need to preview first!!

I would agree with Debi that we shouldn't be denigrating or praising one school over another. The whole admissions system seems very confusing and even with the previous comprehensive explanation it still seems diffcult to completely understand admissions policy and i feel that their is a lack of transparency. We have children in Kingsdale and are very happy with it, and know parents who have kids in Charter who are equally happy with it. It just does seem that if you can't afford to, or have scruples about going private, their just aren't enough places for everyone. I have heard that from Goodrich School this year that many kids this year are going to Sydenham Girls or Forest Hill Boys, some of whom wanted Kingsdale or Charter as their first choice. I suppose I might feel agrieved if I knew that children from Lewisham or further away were getting places over 'local' Southwark children. However I do know that if you are prepared to wait you will probably get your choice of school in the end (my sons friend who is in year 9 moved recently from Harris Academy Peckham to Charter).

former East Dulwich councillor - how can I help?

Can you tell me why Dunstans Road is being continuosly dug up? Thousand were spent on resurfacing, but currently there are two large holes, I believe for Thames water. I thought there was meant to be coordination with utilities? -
School closures - fastest off the mark?

Thanks for that Eliza.D. Is that also true for his friends? -

Any Kingsdale parents sending their kids in today? Haven't heard about the school buses yet, any news? -
Or you can get off opposite the Dulwich Wood House and down Flash Hill. My son in Year 9 has been doing it for the past 2+years, he prefers the Rock Hill route tho'. Only ten minutes, the P13 can get very crowded.

Hi Have you been told that it won't be reconnected until 9pm tomorrow?

The state of the pavements that have been replaced still leave a lot to be desired in some places. Our entrance stone has been cracked at the corner by Conway, some of the new stones our side (30 Dunstans) have not been cemented in properly (I did contact Southwark about this by email, and the next night sand was put in, thought not cement, and the stones at the bottom of the road are still loose). Does Councillor Barber know when this work will be rectified?

Many thanks for your reply, the kids are looking forward to using it!

Does anyone know when the Adventure Playground will be finished in Peckham Rye Park? I thought it was due to be finished last Summer 2009?

Travelling to and from Kingsdale School
marcos replied to happyED's topic in The Family Room Discussion
Hi! The best way, which my son, ex Goodrich, currently year seven at Kingsdale, uses, is get the 363 from Forest hill Road Stop. Then, get off either opposite the Dulwich Wood House, and descend Flash Hill, through Sydendam Hill Station, and then through the Kingswood Estate. Or, get off the next stop opposite Rock Hill and descend through Kingswood Estate, takes about five to ten minutes. He's come up with various other (sometimes convoluted ) bus routes, which today included coming home on the P4 and then the 176. Early on he came back on the 3, changed at Crystal palace and then took the 363 from there. The P13 does get crowded, and a lot of kids now cycle through Dulwich Park, which doesn't seem to take too long. He's often home before my other two kids who are still at Goodrich! Happy to answer any other Kingsdale related questions! -
Hi Vik. We have one son at Kingsdale who is at the end of year seven. He was one of 20 children from Goodrich School who moved last year and the general consensus from the families and children has been a positive one so far. I know that another 30 or so Goodrich Kids will be going this year. My son is a sports scholar and has enjoyed lots of extra sports lesson and additional outside activities, for example on Friday he and other scholars went to Crystal Palace to help with a Primary Schools Sports day and last weeknd he went to Wembley to see an under 18 football game. I know that music scholars are also benefiting from the excellent facilities and opportunities. We went to a superb concert that was held in the Schools' pod in March to raise additional monies for some of the children who do African Drumming going to Namibia. The journey has been fine, P13 or 363 bus, some of the kids cycle. I know one parent whose child moved to Kingsdale from Charter, not because they had a poor opinion of Charter, but because Kingsdale offered more opportunities for her musically. I oftem drop off and pick up my son and all of the children appear well behaved and orderly. It's a difficult decision, I'm sure both schools would offer a good education for your son. Good luck!
