  1. Larger wards have 3 councillors, Smaller wards have 2. Just depends where you live.
  2. Just had mine too. There are school gates in both Dunstans Road and Upland Road so the school traffic is effectively shared between the two roads. If Dunstans Road is closed at school start and finish times it will all go down Upland Road.
  3. nmh -That is completely wrong. The Posties got no bonus for moving. All they got was increased London Weighting which is mostly eaten up by tax and travel costs.
  4. The person who lost it is bound to try ringing it when they discover they've lost it.
  5. I had a letter from Southwark Council today attempting to persuade everyone to register for a postal vote. Given the unreliable state of the postal system I will continue to vote in person.
  6. Royal Mail has thousands of the consultation documents to deliver (one per affected household). The consultation period is very short. Given the current state of the local postal system I wonder how many will get delivered in time.
  7. Craig Wallace is in overall charge of a large number of delivery offices including the newly combined Peckham and East Dulwich office. He isn't based there but visits as part of his role. There are other managers who report to him who have day to day responsibility for the running of the office.
  8. Sorry, but the posties didn't agree to it.
  9. I am closely related to a SE22 postie who doesn't want to er Post on here. Please spare a thought for the posties. They are working incredibly hard in a very stressful situation trying to get to grips with a new delivery method which has made their job more difficult. From tonight temporary night time sorting is being introduced which should mean your postie will spend less time in the office sorting mail and more time actually delivering it. Nationally from next month posties working hours are being reduced from 40 hours per week to 39. I wonder how this will affect the service!
  10. Every address in SE22 was supposed to have received a letter from Royal Mail explaining the changes. With unfortunate irony most haven't been delivered due to the extreme backlog of mail!
  11. Penguin68 - It's not that staff can't be bothered, but looking for one item of mail in a large backlog of unsorted mail would be like looking for a needle in a haystack. It is true that staff will be getting higher London weighting, although some will have a more difficult and expensive journey to work. I expect any who actually live in Peckham will be pleased though. My main concern about it is that staff haven't been given any reduction in the length of their duties, so some time which would have been spent delivering mail will be spent getting between the two locations making it more difficult to complete their duties in the time available.
  12. Yes, it's been changed from 10th to the 17th provisionally.
  13. Some have returned from holiday this week but different ones are now on leave. Will probably continue like this until the school holidays are over.
  14. Not wishing to depress people further, but staff have been informed that the proposed date for the closure of the SE22 delivery office is 10th September. Staff will move into the SE15 delivery office and work two to a van doing two deliveries between them. You are likely to have a different postie and receive your mail at a different time.
  15. I am reliably informed that in the SE22 office there are currently 9 staff on annual leave, one person resigned and at least one is on long term sick leave. There are 4 staff who permanently cover for holidays, which leaves a net shortage of 7 people. Only a few staff are interested in doing overtime so some walks are not being done every day. Pugwash and Singalto, you have the same Postie who is currently on leave.
  16. Some of the staff in the collection office are staff from other Royal Mail office jobs around London who have been moved to help out. The others are delivery staff working overtime.
  17. I'm told there are now 8 staff off sick. 😢
  18. I know someone who works there. They barely employ enough staff to cover all year round. Staff keep going sick and a few people work very high levels of overtime all year to cover. Every Christmas the number of parcels quadruples. The callers office is open longer hours over Christmas which has to be staffed. Staff are understandably not allowed to take holiday in December which does provide a few extra people. There are currently several people on long term sick leave. There is a backlog of undelivered parcels. Extra staff have been brought in from other offices around London to help. They do not necessarily know East Dulwich or the particular job they are doing. I know all the staff are doing their very best in a stressful situation to provide a good service.
  19. Royal Mail have changed the plates on the boxes in anticipation of a planned change in the way collections are performed. The plan is that most boxes will be emptied in the morning by the delivery postman instead of in the afternoon by a van driver. This is part of many planned changes which the union are currently in dispute with Royal Mail about. For example closing 500 out of 900 delivery offices nationwide and changing staff working times so that staff would start and finish 2 hours later. Customers would obviously therefore receive their mail 2 hours later.
  20. Spare a thought for the postman who has to sort the leaflets in with your mail and then deliver it, knowing full well that much of it ends up in the bin without even being read.
  21. It's due to a combination of long-term staff sickness, extra people on holiday during August, heavy workload etc. Royal Mail relies heavily on staff being prepared to work overtime in the afternoon to cover for missing staff. If there are insufficient takers then parts of the area don't get a delivery.
  22. Chances are that a postie based in South Norwood was covering for staff shortage in East Dulwich and used the wrong cards.
  23. Staff were informed today that the consultation has now closed and Royal Mail have decided to close the office and move to Peckham. It will take some months because work will need to be done on the building, duties will need to be reorganised and extra vans purchased to replace the trolleys. Very disappointing for both staff and customers.
