  1. Dog licenses were abolished in 1987. Before Britain changed to decimal currency they cost 7 shillings and 6 pence which became 37p. They were scrapped as they were unenforceable and cost more to collect than they raised.
  2. Thanks for the warning. I use that junction a lot.
  3. Hi all There is a water leak in the section of Friern Road from Lordship lane towards Goodrich Road. Thames Water are already working in the road replacing mains. Water pressure is reduced in Friern and nearby roads.
  4. Pounds, Shillings and Pence. Still remember decimalisation day.
  5. The newsshopper report referenced by Rockets refers to a different crash on Dulwich common on Tuesday morning. A 24 reg car was abandoned all day with its front left wheel hanging off, partially blocking the road in the direction of Lordship Lane.
  6. The nearest one is in Forest Hill Road.
  7. Yes, the gate is open again.
  8. I am genuinely surprised about this. Whatever you may think of Royal Mail, Special Delivery is an extremely reliable service and items rarely go missing. Assuming it was correctly addressed and packaged I suggest you follow it up. You can claim compensation if a SD item gets lost in transit.
  9. There is another entrance off Lordship Lane. It's a bit difficult to find. Go through a housing estate by Highwood Barracks, up a steep slope and there is a kissing gate which takes you into the woods near the closed bridge.
  10. Even longer ago than that, the Saverin was run by another husband and wife. The husband was the waiter - he always wore a smart bow tie and his wife slaved over a hot stove at the back. I think her name was Maureen. They moved to another cafe in Dorset.
  11. I prefer to vote in person. There's no chance of the voting paper not getting delivered in time.
  12. All cats over 20 weeks old now have to be microchipped. Please have your cat microchiped if not already done. Your furry companion can then be returned if he/she becomes lost.
  13. For your information. Each postbox has a barcode inside which the postie has to scan. This records the exact time when the box was emptied. Posties therefore cannot skip emptying a box as this will be flagged up.
  14. Hi There's a post for a lost cat called Nibbler on here. Is it the same one?
