Hi ya! Shot in the dark, but has anyone got a gazebo I can borrow for Sunday? It's my little one's first birthday party and we are opting for bbq in our back garden...the weather forecast isn't too good but too late to change plans and so hoping to find a gazebo last minute to shelter from rain if need be... Many thanks!

Ernie&Kopka replied to Ernie&Kopka's topic in The Family Room Discussion

Hello... We are going to brave the weather and host our little one's first birthday party in our garden...do you have any suggestions on what works, what to do and what def not to do? I am getting slightly carried away I fear with decorations, cakes, toys, plates and colour coordinating the whole thing....and I have just paused, thinking....right, you're being plain silly here, this might just cost us a small fortune! So, any advice would be greatly appreciated! Thanks in advance ;)

Baby Swing, is it worth getting one?
Ernie&Kopka replied to emsiemcb's topic in The Family Room Discussion
Hiya! My now 5 month old really didn't like any of the bouncers or swinging chairs...still doesn't! We've been through pretty much every single one available on the hight street and had to return them all! I must admit that FP (an older model- deep and reclining one with vibrations and music and swinging motion) that I bought second hand on here was of interst for 2 days! So I agree with Fuschia it'd def worth getting second hand... -
stretch mark prevention oil/ cream
Ernie&Kopka replied to duchessofdulwich's topic in The Family Room Discussion
I used arbonne - baby care oil and re9 body moisturiser...I was seriously obsessed with rubbing it on throughout my pregnancy but it did the trick!! Very happy and know exactly what to use for the next bump to come...;) -
Thank you Knomester, it does help! I didn't think of keeping a written log and so have started doing it just now ;) I am very excited and actually feeling quite confident since I started looking at the weaning process as an additional/complimentary food, fun food introduction ;) Many thanks!

Oooh excellent! Thanks Bonfire2010...didn't know there was a cook book too ;)

That's so kind of you Saffron, Thank you! I do have a copy and find it very interesting indeed...Matilda is just days away from turning 5 months and also has been reaching out for our food which got me quite excited and worried at the same time... Sophiechristophy I really appreciate your comment, especially your summarising the weaning process as 'complimentary feeding' love it! I wasn't sure to be completely honest where to start and so what you said really helps ;) This evening I offered my little girl softened strips of carrot and I wasn't expecting her to enjoy them quite as much! She wasn't eating but as you said it must have soothed her gums somewhat...very pleased.

Thank you Mathilda! What a lovely name...that's my little girl's name only without the "h"...;)

Anyone flown with a bugaboo chameleon carrycot?
Ernie&Kopka replied to Sunlover00's topic in The Family Room Discussion
Hi ya! Not too sure this will help but my hubby and I flew a couple of times with our little one but opted for a cheaper stroller as a travel pram for the same reason...I was worried my brand new SX and carry cot (which can be flat packed)will get wrecked when loaded onto the plane. We flew BA and saw a few carry cots at the airport which meant that people happily travel with them however seeing the state of our pram at the other end...glad we didn't ;( -
Hello Yummy Mummies! My little one is 21 weeks and showing some of the signs to be ready for weaning...up until now she has been exclusively breast fed and I was determined to keep it that way until 6 months. She didn't take to a bottle nor a dummy so the plan is to go straight to a cup and skip the bottle part full stop... She is also teething quite full on at the moment ;( How did you all start weaning? Are any of you doing baby led weaning or are you mixing it with traditional? I think I'd like to do baby led first... What are your thoughts, ideas etc Thanks :))

Looking for recommendations for a breastfeeding cushion
Ernie&Kopka replied to espelli's topic in The Family Room Discussion
I highly recommend Breastfriend, it was a life-saver...I fed my little one all the time (it felt like it)and it felt safe and ever so comfy...you can clip it where you need it as it's adjustable...sadly sold mine already ;( -
Hi Bee, I thought I'd join in ;) what you described sounds just like my little one in the first few weeks...I am sorry to hear ;) The only thing that helped calm her down was my birthing ball. I would sit on it and bounce...feeding or not it was a life saver! After all i did spend my entire pregnancy sitting on it... I would also use the same breast but change positions and switch her round, which usually worked long enough for her to feed I am sure you already tried all that but in case not... I hope it'll get better very soon
