  1. Boris got 51% of a 38% turnout, which is 19% of eligible voters - now that's depressing!
  2. Chelsea to move to Battersea Power Station! As if tickets prices at that club weren't high already, what the hell are they going to go up to if they have to pay for the redevelopment of that site?
  3. Boris has to be the most divisive individual in British politics! Everyone has an opinion on him - the ultimate "marmite" politician. The only other person I can think off that comes close, is the odious Galloway. Ken used to be the most divisive, but he's not anymore because everyone now seems to agree they don't like him ;-)
  4. It's degrogatory, but it's an "acceptable" joke isn't it? It paraphrases Johnson in Peep Show (sausage-munching Boche) and draws on The Simpsons (cheese-eating surrender monkeys).
  5. I think you'll find it's on your fridge ;-) If it isn't, don't worry - you don't need it. As long as you're on the electoral roll you can just turn up.
  6. Labour - 15 Green - 12 Liberal Democrat - 11 Independent - 3 UKIP - -4 Conservative - -12 No surprise here for me, but I'm not keen on Ken. I'll still vote Labour, but for me Ken's too old and too tainted and obviously, along with Boris, has done too much to turn London politics away from policy and more towards personality. It was a shame (for Labour) that Oona King performed so poorly in the hustings. And, after last night, I'm even less keen on him - his team posted campaign material through my letterbox at about 10.30pm and woke one of kids (6)
  7. Tricky one to calculate this. Here's one attempt: [pre] [/pre] And in the interests of balance: [pre] [/pre]
  8. I agree with Otta. We need to pick our best players regardless of their egos. A good manager - and the England manager is meant to be the very best - should be able to deal with the modern multi-millionaries like Ferguson does with Rooney, Ferdinand, Nani et al. If you have to drop people because you can't manage their egos, you aren't good enough to be the England manager.
  9. If the point of bus lanes is to keep buses moving, it can't be sensible to allow tens of thousands of minicabs in them.
  10. TfL have won their injuction at the High Court today. Cyclists 1 - 0 Addision Lee. I bet it goes to extra time though!
  11. Darn stats eh! I'm not a cyclist so I have no first hand experience of the extent of dangerous drivers in London, but I do think it makes sense to allow cyclists in bus lanes. Griffin seems to have little regard for the law that prevents his minicabs driving in these lanes and has proven in the past that if he gets his drivers to simply ignore the law, it's possible not to get prosecuted. It wouldn't surprise me if Boris gets back in he'll allow them in anyway.
  12. I don't read any sense of entitlement into the OP - she's just seems to be genuinely asking for "a little understanding." I accept there is some sense of entitlement from another subsequent poster, but to be fair, they are perfectly "entitled" to park wherever they want if there's no CPZ there.
  13. If you don't fancy reading the 51 page report, here's an article about it, which is where the '60-75%' figure comes from: Risky cycling rarely to blame for bike accidents, study finds
  14. It was commissioned by the DoT, but was actually carried out by the Transport Research Laboratory. It found that with adult cyclists, police found the driver solely responsible in about 60%-75% of all cases.
  15. The hosepipe ban has absolutely no affect on anyone at night ;-)
  16. Maybe I've interpreted this sentence incorrectly? Are you just suggesting they should leave their job because they have to drive to work?
  17. Sorry giggirl, but I find it ridiculous that you're suggesting someone should actually leave their job because they don't like their car being damaged or having notes left on it even though they have parked perfectly legally on a public highway!
  18. There are a FEW irresponsible cyclists, but drivers are responsible for up to 75% of collisions involving cyclists.
  19. I went to Reading when I was 16, however this was several decades ago so times and the festival have changed! However, I'd say it is an excellent 'first festival' - well stewarded/policed, the facilities are great, it's close to London and the festival itself is very central to the town - all great for teens.
  20. You'll need to find out what year they are in as Heber has different times for different years because they are dropped off/let out in different playgrounds.
  21. It's always very difficult to generalise based on phone-ins and internet forums, especially with a club like West Hame that has a reasonably big fanbase, but....if you look at the KUMB internet forum there's a great number of people on there that seem to think they have more a right than, let's say, Reading to be in the Premiership. Reading have scored 7 goals against West Ham this season and won more away games than the club record number of away games WH have won, but the tone is pretty ungracious regarding last night's promotion*. * This is based on reading KUMB, not based on comments from West Ham fans on the EDF!
  22. Waitresses in restaurants/pubs who try and clear the table when my kids aren't finished eating - if their knife and fork aren't placed together they aren't finished yet, they will probably come back it.
  23. You take exception! It's their wedding and they're inviting you - you're not entitled to attend! However, when people try and say I can't take my kids into public places which don't require an invitation, such as pubs, now that's where I take exception ;-)
  24. Just an idea, but perhaps CCTV cameras could be positioned so they record the muggings and the footage could therefore assist the police?
  25. Loz is right, but the entire court is rarely full - you can often move to "better" seats at certain times of the day because people have vacated theirs. I found the stewards were pretty reasonable in allowing you to move as long as it isn't too busy and you're willing to move when people return.
