  1. Hehe -- I've inadvertently met the Black couple in Cheners -- I'd recently moved here and they came into the shop pretending to look for books. At one point they stood close to where I was browsing, kinda looking at me to see 'how to look for books'... they left soon after! Very sweet, but a bit odd
  2. Yeah, let's pub lunch it! Have you guys met before? I have to be a bit careful btw this weekend, as last weekend a small child ran out in front of my bike along the Thames path and I fell off -- didn't break either the child or any of my bones, but bruising on hands/wrists has meant that I don't have usual strength in arms. But have been riding around ED and not too bad :)
  3. Great stuff -- I look forward to meeting you there at 9am. Is the weather set to be nice? I guess the presence of bikes negates the need to wear a pink carnation in your lapels! ;p
  4. This sounds great -- where abouts are you meeting in ED? I think some friends would come too TL x
  5. ..I saw the Sun & Doves pub on the Apprentice tonight -- not quite ED but it still made me shout at the telly oh
  6. ...Yes me too, I'd be up for it but I have a hybrid rather than a mountain bike -- are you guys planning to do rough terrain through forests etc or road cycling?
  7. ..To update you, it seems lucky for me that I booked a charter flight with Thompson, who have cancelled flights to Cancun and are reimbursing customers. My colleagues in Cancun are not too worried, but are staying away from busy areas until they can get home. Mmmmm, I always thought the chances of me going to a Caribbean destination for a week was as likely as flying pigs *boom boom*
  8. ...Yes, I think you are spot on Candj It's a bit of a shame, but better not to risk spreading the virus further. I heard on the news this morning that a honeymooning couple from the UK who went to Cancun contracted the flu -- I just hope my friends and colleagues who already went are safe and sound and get back ok. TL x
  9. :) Thanks Mick Mac, hope so ;-P Sure, see you at the next one TL~x
  10. Yes, I'll make sure I come to the next one -- I've missed the last ones -- is it in the George Canning? 2nd May? Will you cheer me up if I come (because I would have been sitting on a beach, boo) x
  11. Boo :( It's very sad -- I was due to fly out to Cancun on Wed for a three-day conference and a little holiday (haven't had one of those for a while) and now the conference has been cancelled and I'm stuck in London instead of seeing a place that I've never been to before :( I wish I hadn't poured over those photos of Cancun on the Internet now :( I was already sitting on that beach in my mind :( Still, I guess being in rainy London beats contracting pig flu and bringing it back to the UK :(
  12. ...Yes, I got an email yesterday saying it hasn't got to Cancun (although I think it is unlikely that no-one has contracted it). Stupid question -- I guess the flu jab we get in England wouldn't cover an exotic strain -- just thinking whether it was worth getting it before I go??
  13. ...thanks for excellent advice you guys -- going to Cancun...should I buy a face mask do you think??!! Looking forward to trying a place I've never been to before :)
  14. ...I asked if anybody had spare IPod headphones and Sonja kindly sent me some in the post (but naughtily didn't put her address so I could send something nice in return, hence the big thank you on here!). Kindness of strangers (friends we haven't yet met) is a wonderful thing. TL
  15. Hi all, I'm going to Mexico on Wed for 7 days (3 of which are a work conference) -- could anybody advise me on how much money I should exchange to survive for this time -- I'm not normally so clueless when it comes to spends abroad, but I've never been to Mexico and wonder what things cost over there... I plan to stay close to the hotel for the duration (apart from a couple of excursions) so it'll just be food and drinks really. Any advise from people who have been there recently would be great)
  16. .... goes to SONJA! Thank you Sonja for being such a lovely East Dulwicher! TL
  17. AndyStar that's Sofa King great -- anymore recommendations like it?

    Holidays

Resting a bit, having a few drinks tonight with friends, Blackheath circus and lunch in Greenwich tomorrow, cycling on Sun, friends birthday lunch in Wimbledon village on Mon (and a bit of writing in between) :)
  19. ...Yes, good clip Sean, and spot on comments Declan.
  20. Bon3yard, do you want to join us this weekend to Dartford? Malcolm, I love the idea of cycling to Windsor -- any suggestions for when?
  21. Fair enough -- I must say, I do enjoy Humph in the morning :)
  22. Fair enough, perhaps though it is easily put right, in that she claim expenses for her London home instead. Just semantics really. The debarcle over the porngate affair is plainly annoying now -- yes it shouldn't have been an expense that the taxpayer pays for, but she apologised (for her husband's error!) and paid for it. Doesn't need the continual rumblings in the press. I think your argument is correct, but the style in which this issue is being pursued smacks of misogyny to me. Perhaps I'm just a raging feminist who has a cognitive bias for inequality in the workplace; she should simply swap address for the expense claim. End.
  23. Yes it's true -- we cycled past a few breweries -- one was emitting a lovely whisky smell, the other was rancid :( But it was fun -- does the path go all the way to Dartford along the Thames? What's it like in the opposite direction? Do let me know the plan for your next trip, will definitely come along :)
  24. Bagsie I'll be Penelope Pitstop ..."hhhaaayyyyyylllllppppp", but who'll be the Hooded Claw?? (Ohhh, still gives me the creeps that nasally voice and those spectacles)
  25. Anyone else going to see Waiting for Godot? I got tickets for June and I can't wait :)
