  1. And a quick reminder to everyone that lives in East Dulwich or surrounding area that you can add your 'thoughts' to the recent road closures on the Southwark website. Link for the road closures through Dulwich Village is here- [dulwichvillagestreetspace.commonplace.is] Link for the road closure at Melbourne Grove is here- [eastdulwichstreetspace.commonplace.is] Their unbelievable 'justification' for sneaking these disastruous road closures through whilst we are all in lockdown is here- [www.southwark.gov.uk] Please do add as many comments as you can- you are not limited to 1 comment you can comment on all existing posts and add your own.
  2. Please visit the onedulwich website to support those that are in favour of sensible ways to reduce congestion- NOT closing roads that lead to yet more congestion & make our lives a misery!
  3. Very pleased to have found the One Dulwich website- I have just signed up and would encourage anyone that lives in East Dulwich to sign up for news too. Make no mistake- you will be adversely affected by these road closures. Either by having to sit in traffic to get anywhere west of SE22 or by having to breath in the fumes of the traffic that is queuing to get onto the South Circular or East Dulwich Grove if they can no longer drive through Dulwich Village. Show your support by signing up too- www.onedulwich.uk Its a shame that there are two threads on here about the same thing as I think the call to action is a bit diluted... Has anyone been able to erect banners with the One Dulwich website details anywhere yet, as I think that will encourage people to sign up too...? We need to make this visible whilst people are furloughed/schools are closed as the full horrors of this traffic displacement won't be clear until September. At which point I am sure Southwark will have claimed it as a victory & it will become permanent

  5. Are the Council allowed to sneak these through before the published consultation dates? This all seems very sneaky and underhand, and has absolutely nothing to do with Covid. Are there any Legal people out there that can advise?
  6. I just wanted to let everyone that lives in East Dulwich or surrounding area that you can add your 'thoughts' to the recent road closures on the Southwark website. If these road closures are going to treble the amount of time that it takes you to get anywhere locally too (and treble the amount of pollution), please let the council know and share the links with as many people as you can. Otherwise they will just leave the closures there... Sadly we do not all have the luxury of being able to walk or cycle everywhere!
  7. Hi James, As per the current thread on the Forum regarding the Proposed CPZ in East Dulwich, Please can you explain how you are getting involved as you will see that the residents have strong suspicions that Southwark Council are going to push this through regardless of what the residents of East Dulwich actually want. There was a shambolic 'drop in' meting on Saturday that you and your colleagues should have been at. Why weren't you? These hugely important decisions should be monitored and held to account by someone unbiased, not left to the Council to push through to create parking revenue. Please get involved asap and tell us what you are all doing? on that thread!!
  8. Where are our local Councillors? Surely they should be getting heavily involved in this, making sure that proper consultations are being held, ensuring the process is transparent and holding Southwark Council to account over this? There were no Councillors at the Drop In Session on saturday when we were there and I haven't see any involvement from them on this thread... James Barber would have got involved- where are they?! And why are people voting for Councillors that aren't getting involved in decisions that will have such a huge impact on our area? As someone said previously, this is starting to smell rather fishy to me
  9. Anyone that wants East Dulwich to retain its vibrant, buzzy atmosphere should get themselves down to the Proposed Parking 'drop in session' at Push Studios on Blackwater Street asap. Open until 5pm today. Otherwise, we could be looking at a very different high street in a couple of years. Shops and restaurants are already struggling to stay afloat, and if people can't park to go to the cinema, the gym, the restaurants & the shops, Lordship Lane risks becoming another victim. House prices will bomb, parking attendants will be circling like vultures and a quick wander up the high street will turn into a stressful experience to be avoided. Unsurprisingly, the 'drop in session' was totally chaotic, the representatives from the council are doing their best to talk to one person at a time so that no-one can really hear what anyone else is saying, thereby avoiding conflict. They are sticking post it notes onto huge maps showing residents concerns/errors with the maps etc, but surely they should be recording those properly? No one is asking visitors to sign into the register which I suspect is a ploy to claim that less people turned up than actually did. And when we asked what kind of research they had done to prove that commuters were using the area to park in, we were told that they didn't have enough budget to do that and were assuming that was the case. The research in the paperwork that they are handing out was dated 2015, so is also irrelevant. However, if we don't all go down there and tell them what we think, fill in the questionnaires that were sent out asap (as apparently the results of these will be used to make the final decision)and sign the petitions that are in pretty much every shop/business on Lordship Lane, we could be living in a very different environment in a couple of years time. And then it will be too late. Apparently there are plans afoot for a secondary change of design for Lordship Lane in the pipeline too, so if we don't speak up about this, god knows what that will involve further down the line....
