Alternatively could 'Anotherperson' have been reading along merrily for months and only NOW have been distracted enough from their work to join in?? Duh! Sorry - pithy and off topic.

My mantra is 'I'm on toddler time'. It reminds me to slow down and listen. Doesn't always work - especially as the young-um has entered the 'why' and 'how' stage of questioning - but does help me remember to see things through their eyes. Love the OP quote but think I'd have trouble remembering a long one, memory all shot by sleep deprivation lol!

HI traceyjp - not really on message, but I would like to donate items to this place as it sounds as though they might be gratefully received? What is the problem with co-sleeping?
hpsaucey replied to Lochie's topic in The Family Room Discussion
um. Good to see positive reactions! We just got a bigger bed to solve the 'problem' lol! our two boys aged two and five usually appear in our bed at soMe point in the night. If they still want to do it in ten years time then i'll worry. Have many friends who don't really understand why we do it but its horses for courses, and the time when they want to snuggle up will be gone all too soon ........ -

Obtaining maternity notes from Kings

I wasn't charged but this was 5 years ago so maybe its changed. Think they also took pity on me because was a difficult birth though so maybe that makes a difference? -

Would also like to help! Don't know how I'd have survived without the club! I work part time at the Science Museum, so some experience of public service/working with kiddies. Helen

Glad to know it still keeps so many happy lol! I don't take my own kiddies there very often though - feels too much like a 'busman's holiday'. IF you go, get to the interactive Launch Pad gallery (top fav with kiddies) early if you're intending on visiting it(3rd floor). 4th and 5th floors quieter but do hold some objects that may be disturbing for younger visitors as they're the medical galleries. Second the V&A for being calmer and still having lots to do. Natural History Museum also chokka!

Polly D Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > Locally: Horniman > In town: Transport museum in Covent Garden or > Science Museum science museum at half term positively heaving after about midday. I should know as I work there!! Can make for a stressful trip with young kiddies. Then again, many other places the same! Thomas carton centre usually run some free/Cheap excellent family classes.

PVC oilcloth 'dangerous' for baby to lie on for playing?
hpsaucey replied to lyd76howe's topic in The Family Room Discussion
Yup - its to do with the phthalates used to make plastics - usually PVC - flexible. The problem is particularly bad when these things are new due to 'off gassing' - lovely phrase. There are EU directives nowadays to cover products for children and babies, but not sure how this covers things made elsewhere in the world. Also, phthalates are used in all sorts of things as are chemical finishes in general. I know we're all worried about baby bottles etc these days but I wonder how many people worry about off gassing from their new sofas and matresses for example? See this ... http://www.ehow.com/how_6337014_avoid-phthalates-pregnant.html Helen (one time member of a plastics exhibition team - how randoms that lol)! littleEDfamily Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > I think its something to do with phthalates - it's > some sort of chemical used to plasticise (is that > a word) textiles. Hi there, Does anyone know if there's a film on today at Dulwich Library. I know they used to be every fortnight. Also, if there is, does anyone know what film it is? Thanks in advance, Helen

Just a rant. Why oh why did they kill of Nigel P - one of the few actually nice characters. Why didn't they kill off that self-centred, selfish, deeply irritating brat Helen Archer. Urgh!!!! I'm ashamed to admit I've listened to The Archers for over 30 years - but might have to stop now as most of the remaining characters are fairly obnoxious at best. Urgh!!!!!

Anyone know of a weighing clinic open on Thursdays?

Ditto. took my second to the HV to be weighed twice and that was because I took pity on her as she was so nice and was encouraging mums to go along. Can imagine that many people find it a comfort - whilst some find it stress inducing. Some just like to see their baby's growth 'progress' on that red book chart! Usually just weighed at home when was wondering If he'd just put on lots of weight or I was getting old and tired! -

why not just get on a pair of scales at home if you have one with and without your baby? Maybe not as accurate but not bad! Done this a few times with baby number two as could never be bothered to queue just to get him weighed lol! -
Hi there, We've not had our rubbish collected for two weeks now over on the east side of PR Park and its really piling up - despite our best recycling and composting efforts. Anyone had any better luck? Helen

Hhm - not on Somerton Road like us are you? There's another one in North London somewhere so we occasionally get the same problem. Will try tomorrow when they are open. Ooh - wondered what had happened to the lovely Steve - assuming its the same Steve? Glad he's back but sorry he's been off for health isses. We thought he'd left as he was wondering about turning to window cleaning. Maybe an 'urban myth' about the sick pay, although the girl I heard it from sensible! Fingers crossed for post for everyone tomorrow! What do they do in Scandinavia?
-
Damn - not just us then! Someone told me - not sure if its true or not - that posties were being told that they could go out and deliver in the snow if they wanted to BUT that they would not received sick pay if they fell and hurt themselves. Anyway - snow long gone and STILL no post. Wouldn't mind IF I could find something on the website to explain - think its a bit off that there's no easily found update there. Highshore Road number I've got is: 0845 774 0740
