  1. Similar experience here with Niko. First of al, the voicemail message that says he is busy but will respond, is reassuring. He followed up as promised and detected the leak by visual methods. He also provided detailed information about the origin of the leak, how to approach insurance claim, etc. The pricing structure and the invoice was clear too. Highly recommend Niko.
  2. Dulwich TTC HARRIS GIRLS ACADEMY, HOMESTALL ROAD HALL CLOSE FROM 22ND JULY – 9TH SEPTEMBER 2023 EVERY SAT 1.00 – 4.30 PM
  3. Hello Hive mind! Any ideas for party entertainment? It is for a girl turning 10 who is not (yet!) Interested in make up/dress up/nails/dance etc. She has had science, magic, tshirt printing, pizza making, swim, inflatables and doesn't want to repeat or is too old for these now. Has to be indoor eg church hall as we cannot host in our house. Need something where parents can hang around as this is a friends & family party, not a drop off, so things like swimming, cinema, laser tag, etc are out. Any other ideas? Thanks in advance for the suggestions.
  4. our school is looking to get rid of a big load of PE kit including jogging bottoms, polo t-shirts and fleece. The t-shirts and fleece have school logo on them. These have all plenty of wear left in them but have become obsolete due to the school changing their logo, colours, design, etc. The sizes range from age 4-11 years. Does anyone know any charity that might want these clothes? Any leads will be much appreciated to save these good quality items from a recycle bank or landfill. Thanks
  5. Yeah, I am hoping things open up by then.
  6. Hello all, I am looking for some information to host a birthday party for an 8 year old girl for approx. 30 children in November. Has anyone tried to do this research recently? Can anyone guide me as to what b=venues are open, whether this is too big a gathering, safe entertainment ideas, etc Thanks
  7. The library used to run basic computer courses, but not sure if it covered Microsoft Office. Also not sure when or if they will restart upon opening the libraries.
  8. HI, I have some toiletries to donate, when is the next donation date?
  9. How many days after payment did you receive the sticker?
  10. you can also return the extra green bin to the council. We had too many green bins and too few blue bins. So we ordered a blue one and asked them to take away a green one at the same time.
  11. Thanks everyone.
  12. Hi, I am looking for information on how to make our front porch less slippery. Currently the pathway has tiles and the sap from the trees and any amount of rain makes it a full blown slide. I am hoping something can be added on top of the tiles to alleviate the problem. Maybe some sort of grit which stays on tiles but not sure if such a product exists or what it is called. I am not in favour of those think rubber carpets with big holes. Any suggestions please?
  13. I am interested in some adult size plastic hangers if you still have them?
  14. thanks all for the information. Pest control company going in this week to sort it out!
  15. Hello all, I rent out a flat since 2013 and the current tenants have found a mouse which has entered through a hole in the kitchen wall & chewed the dishwasher hose pipe. Is it the landlord or tenant responsibility for: 1. pest control? 2. plugging the hole? 3. replacing the dishwasher hose pipe? I believe the tenant have done a decent job of keeping the premise clean. If anything, I fear the downstairs neighbours might not be tidy. With out going in to this route of discussion, is there any general opinion or regulations that point to who is responsible to see away the little unwelcome guests & repair the damage it has done? Many thanks for your help as I can't find any concrete info online.
  16. I have been shopping with Tesco for the last 2.5 years. Occasional item not available, yoghurt box broken or stale produce but good customer service to sort these out. Driver normally asks what to do with the crates and are happy to bring it in to my kitchen where I unload them. This seems to work with all drivers as I have never seen any of them grumble or refuse. We live in converted house, so offloading at the door step is not an option. I don't expect them to offload the crates as I am grateful to the driver for bringing the crates in and that is sufficient help for me. Have ordered from Asda's (bad quality produce, half the items out of stock), Sainsbury's (basic items out of stock, website not user friendly), Ocado (good for exotic items, organic stuff) and stuck with Tesco as a good all rounder.
  17. Thanks to those to replied via PM. For your information, Aston Lark eventually came through with a quote with an extremely competitive premium and a slightly high excess for escape of water claims. We have also been told that the claim follows a person (policy holder) not the property so us new owners don't actually have to even declare it as none of were were named on the policy that claimed damages.
  18. Thanks!! you saved me typing all that up again.
  19. Hi, my post about John Lewis / Miele Dishwasher got deleted in error or maybe it was removed but I don't believe it broke any rules. Can you please find it & reinstate it when you have a spare minute? Many thanks.
  20. Purchased a Miele dishwasher from John Lewis Aug 2018 with a 2 year warranty. It was kept in a box while we waited for kitchen renovation to start (builder had personal issues and we decided to wait for him). It was barely used for 6 months when it broke down. First service visit didn't happen - engineer called on the morning to say he didn't have the required spare part. With in the hour, their customer service rep called to say the engineer had called in sick. I believe one or the other was lying but knew will get nowhere by complaining about it. Second service visit - engineer "repaired", said it was "working" & left. I turned it on an hour later, it didn't run & quoted same error code. Third service visit - engineer didn't know what the issue was, what was previously done, what he was meant to do. He left with out doing anything because could not pull the dishwasher out to have a look due to small space on either side of the machine and tight hose at the back. My partner managed to pull it out that evening with out any great effort, he is not a DIY expert or experienced in such things, being a desk-job person! Both John Lewis and Miele refuse to refund or replace the machine despite several phone calls / emails / escalation, etc. A month after reporting the fault, I am now waiting for the fourth service visit. Four working days where I have to sit at home waiting for their day long time slots. Not to mention the time & energy spent on trying to resolve this issue, hassle & stress caused to me, skin deteriorating due to washing up by hand. Both companies quote the terms & conditions that they have the right to repair, the customer has to give access, etc. Am I naive not to expect to wash up manually for well over a month after paying 1K for a well reputed brand to a well reputed department store which was barely used for 6 months? Managers in both companies have told me there is no one higher than them to appeal this to and I just have to allow them to keep repairing until they believe the engineer costs have exceeded the cost of the machine in their eyes and even then it will be their discretion on what they do further! Any advice please on how to deal with this? Thanks!
  21. We are 3 x share of freehold flats' owners needing one buildings insurance policy where we were all named. We have just purchased the freehold and the previous freeholder has a block insurance policy which they have refused to transfer. Even if they had transferred, we would be having the same issue given the current policy expires in November. The issue is that there was a claim for water leak which turned out to be a major insurance claim in January this year. Insurance paid for renovating 2 bathroom, redecorating a bedroom, loss of rent for one flat which was let out at the time, alternative accommodation to the other owner-occupied flat and a bunch of other related expenses like electricity & water bills. The claim went over 60K in total! We have so far contacted Coppergate, Lansdown and Aston Lark / Jobson James, who have all failed to find a single insure to quote for our situation. I am going to call Heritage and Westfield insurance brokers shortly but not very hopeful as so far every other insurer has declined to even quote! We would be prepared to ride out a period of high premium until we can get the No claims discount. Any advice will be gratefully received.
  22. hmm, possibly. However, I applied for postal vote online, received confirmation of it online, so perhaps they could send me an email to expect the voting card?
  23. I have emailed them a feedback. Will post here when/if they respond.
  24. We received a postal poll card in the mail today. All it says is that the postal vote will be sent around 11th May. Unless I am missing something obvious, this seems like an absolute waste of paper & postal service. I do not see the point of sending a postal poll card saying the actual postal vote will be sent shortly. This is not environmentally friendly & is a waste of tax payers money.
