  1. Sooooooo, not to interrupt the discussion on "alone time" for too long... I liked the sound of the Cheese Block vegetarian samosas so I popped in there today. The samosa, as promised, was very nice; not too dry and just a bit spicy. I also picked up a tricolore ciabatta sandwich, it was very tasty. On a completely unrelated topic to anything else that's been discussed; the new Countdown girl (Rachel) is very good isn't she....
  2. Thanks for all your responses: ian_b - Once I've steeled myself to the long walk I'll check out Cafe Prov HonaloochieB - I quite like cooking but am unlikely to ever find myself on Masterchef...Have you noticed that John always gets his way on the 50/50 choices? TillieTrotter - Apples and Cheese, classic Bob & Ted - Soup is always good, but I can't bring myself to eat (drink?) it every day :) david_carnell - Thanks for the link, some good stuff in there I'll be trying... Marmora Man - All good stuff to add into the rotation, thanks. Peckhamgatecrasher - Again, sounds good for when I can't be arsed to cook in... Cheers All.
  3. I thought I had a purpose, but it turns out it was a Dolphin... To take the question more seriously... I suppose that it depends on what is meant by 'higher purpose'; is there something which I believe I have to achieve that is more important than anything else, for fear of being mark down? Not really. Also, who would I have to jusify to why we are alive? Personal believes may alter ones perspective of course :-)
  4. Hi All, First time poster, so please be kind. I moved to East Dulwich a couple of months ago and have been working from home; I've been impressed by the area, there?s a good selection of shops and pubs to choose from and I?m pleased I moved here. However, working from home has brought its own set of challenges; the one I?ve chosen to seek help with first is trying to avoid the monotony of Lunch... Don?t get me wrong, lunch time is awesome, it?s good to get out, sometimes it?s good to stay in and cook; both a welcome distraction from work... Recommendations for a) places to go for lunch (value is the order of the day here) or b) meals that can be made at home that are suitable for lunch (Lobster is nice, but not quite right for lunch) would be gratefully received. In a bid to being useful, here is a list of typical lunch recipes that maybe new to others: Toast ? Toasted bread, can be served with some Olive Oil based spread. Cheese on Toast - Toasted bread, one side covered in melted cheese. Beans on Toast ? Toasted bread topped with reheated baked beans in tomato sauce. Cheesy Beans on Toast ? See above, add cheese. Cheesy Beans Dogs on Toast ? See above, add hot dogs (can be included with Beans). Chilli Cheesy Bean Dogs on Toast ? See above, add....wait for it...Chilli powder. As you can see I need help... Matt.
