  1. Special mention to SSW for remembering the plight of trees at 11am when the rest of the country fell silent to remember those caught up in the weekend's events.
  2. Hello Blanche! I think you misunderstood my post; easy mistake to make when you're used to interpreting things to your own end. Just to be perfectly clear - I was calling out Lewis (and SSW) for the divisive and ill-timed horsepoop you keep spouting. You couldn't give a toss about Muslim burials in Southwark, you couldn't give a toss about Jewish burials in Southwark, you don't give a toss about war graves in Southwark, the one and only thing you are concerned about is where you can have a walk on a Sunday morning. You claim you're supported by thousands? Prove it. Start fund raising in earnest for the oft-mentioned injunction. I'm sure a comedian of Lewis' standing in the community will have no trouble organising a benefit concert to this end. You weren't threatened with legal costs - you were told you may be liable. Actually do something other than flap around the peripheries moaning about the number of trees lost.
  3. Lewis, you're a singularly unpleasant little man if you think this contributes to 'saving southwark woods' today
  4. Blanche and/or Lewis, depending... You had no idea the graves were there until the report came out last year. You claim to be the Friends Of Camberwell Cemetery but have ZERO interest in its history or heritage. The only thing you give a fig about are the trees and as you've lost that battle you're now flailing around at anything and towards anyone that may slow down the works out of nothing but spite.
  5. CWGC statement on the matter issued yesterday: http://www.cwgc.org/news-events/news/2017/5/commonwealth-war-graves-commission-statement-regarding-planned-works-at-camberwell-old-cemetery.aspx Which states quite clearly they've been in contact with the council during the process and are happy with proceedings. This will be good news to Blanche and Lewis who were very concerned about our boys.
  6. "There are more than enough arguments to stop this project." What you meant to type was... "We believe our arguments are enough to stop this project." ...which isn't the same thing by a country mile. Had you not insulted the CoE, you could have worked with them to scale back some of the plans. Had you not rubbed the CWGC up the wrong way they might have been inclined to consider your opinions. You've burnt bridge after bridge and are clinging to the hope The Sun or The Daily Mail listen to your insincere cobblers about 'our boys'.
  7. Considering the events of this week I would have hoped Blanche and Lewis would have toned down their dog whistle approach to the far right, but I hoped in vain.
  8. Anyone can call themselves a Friends Of... organisation, in the same way anyone can call themselves Doctor whatever. However, if they've adopted the name and displaced a group who were already in place that's not particularly pleasant.
  9. So FoNC have asked SSW not to attend and they're going anyway? *slow hand clap* What was all that about respecting the dead again?
  10. Genuinely think it's a step in the right direction that Blanche is engaging with voices that disagree with her. I doubt a middle ground can be found but I'm more inclined to listen to someone who is trying rather than someone who spends their time releasing hyperbolic statements and ignoring reasoned responses. If only all members of SSW were so restrained I'm sure more people would attend their meetings.
  11. BTW doesn't stop him reading the forum and screengrabbing for the SSW Twitter account
  12. Penguin - could you tell them to vent their spleens at the estate agents who failed to mention the area near the houses they were selling was actually a viable cemetery instead of South London's answer to 100 Acres Wood?
  13. Blanche, it's this sort of thing that doesn't help your cause: That was the only hearing - Chancellor Petchey threatened us with Southwark's legal costs if we continued to defend the trees and graves through the Consistory Court, forcing us to withdraw So the chancellor said if you continued to defend the trees you would have to pay Southwark's legal costs? or, and I'm guessing this is more likely, you were told that if you wished to continue your challenge you would be liable for costs if you were unsuccessful? That's not a threat, that's standard practice.
  14. oh Penguin! He who shall not be named will have to start again with his game of Tinfoil Hat Guess Who? now.
  15. The Friends Of Camberwell Cemeteries had no idea about war graves until they turned up in council documents, and this faux outrage at the treatment of 'our boys' is fooling no-one - it's another desperate dog whistle attempt to engage the less pleasant elements of the political spectrum.
  16. Blanche, we realise you have your point of view and absolutely nothing is going to change your mind, but to suggest everyone who doesn't agree with you is anti-nature is ridiculous. Your entire campaign is now based on 'We don't like it so therefore it's wrong'. Instead of working with the council, the church and the commission FOCC and SSW decided to ridicule and insult individuals and protest with a goal you cannot achieve without legal recourse.
  17. ?[52]. ?Ms Cameron either attaches too much intrinsic significance to the trees with which she is concerned or considers the loss of those trees as a matter of greater significance than it apparently has; she also does not seem to give credit for the new planting. It is hard to identify significant environmental harm flowing from the proposals...?
  18. http://www.lawandreligionuk.com/2017/03/17/municipal-cemetry-development/ Seriously: have SSW actually read this? It shoots down pretty much their entire argument and they're using it to back themselves up?
  19. Cheers Penguin68 - I'm looking forward to hearing about how the council aren't providing for campanologists next.
  20. Having told Southwark Council, the Church of England, the Diocese of Southwark and the Commonwealth War Graves Commission repeatedly that they are in the wrong you'd have hoped they would have had legal advice.
  21. A Conservation Management Plan is required and also has to be agreed by community stakeholders such as FOCC SSW. the Camberwell Cemeteries Working Group, Friends of Honor Oak Park and others Has to be agreed or has to be viewed by? Also, given the incestuous nature of some of these groups where can we find details of their membership? Also, have you considered t-shirts with FOCC SSW on them? I think they would be very popular.
  22. Hi Blanche, you've obviously spoken to all the relatives - have you shared the contact details with the council? Some of these graves are fairly old so that's some top notch detective work on the part of SSW/FOCC.
  23. I don't mind the copied and pasted press releases (not sure they each need such a lengthy signature) as long as someone from SSW or FOCC wants to talks about them. Given the level of social media engagement elsewhere, one can only assume they don't take well to query or criticism.
  24. Edited again because below.
  25. *liked* No-one is arguing that green spaces shouldn't be looked after; had the council decided to build homes on the site we'd have been manning the barricades with you. The issue is you've floundered around accusing everyone and anyone of this, that and the other which at best makes you look like Violet Beauregarde and at worst like the boy who cried wolf. You've given no thought to who you've RT'd or got support from (You've ignored UKIP asking a question on your behalf at city hall, which is a fair indicator of shame) and - bluntly - you've let Lewis threaten and bully anyone who disagrees with him. It's not 'you're either for trees or you're for the council'. I'm for the long term management of green spaces.
