  1. Nailed it. You suffer from the same problem as Theresa May; you can't deal with a difference of opinion. Faced with hard facts you copy and paste the same line every time. Blanche, no-one here thinks it's wrong for these reasons because *speaks slowly* it's not discriminatory.
  2. Blanche, You suffer from the same problem as Theresa May; you can't deal with a difference of opinion. Faced with hard facts you copy and paste the same line every time. If Southwark Council were in any way discriminating against Muslim or Jewish people they would be all over it like a rash; neither demographic is backwards in coming forwards to highlight injustice. Just because you keep repeating the same tosh over and over and over again will not make it true. It's been said before but your money where your mouth is - if you truly believe Southwark Council are engaged in illegal activity, get an injunction. If you are so utterly convinced you're right prove it. You've not posted a group shot of FOCC on your website for nearly 12 months - you're keen to use pictures to prove your point about the cemetery but you can't illustrate your local support? How many FOCC were at the planning meeting the other night?
  3. Joeleg - Blanche uses an iphone. Lewis uses an Android phone (it's on the bottom of your tweets). The tweeting the indefensible to the unspeakable is 100 per cent Lewis. When you're a mass protest organisation with two active members, you have to stick together.
  4. taper - exactly. The only way to provide the blanket equality that SSW is desperate for would be the repurposing of green space on a massive scale. She doesn't want equality - burial for all - they want burial for no-one, so pretending to care less about it is dubious at best.
  5. You haven't answered half the questions put to you directly on here. But, just for the record - and please listen this time because cleverer people than either of us have explained this to you - the council is not discriminatory in its burial policy. So, no, it wouldn't be OK but as they're not doing it it's irrelevant. Can you now explain why the pair of you conspired to start a new Twitter account to launch your Grenfall attack when you're making such a big thing of transparency?
  6. Blanche, you don't want ANYONE buried ANYWHERE in Southwark, let alone near you. If the council announced plans for 200 orthodox muslim and 200 orthodox jewish plots near your house they would need to get you down off the ceiling. You and Lewis have gone so far down the rabbit hole any decency or compassion is null and void as long as you've got somewhere to walk on a Sunday morning. The pair of you deserve each other.
  7. Oh Blanche! And at least Lewis doesn?t hide behind a username, and is prepared to defend what he believes publicly. Can you explain why he decided to set up a charming new Twitter account to hijack the the nation's grief over the Grenfall tragedy? @FairBurial If #Grenfell was in @lb_southwark Christians wud get cheap local burial; Muslims & Jews wud get nowt. Since then he's tweeted the same unpleasant messages via the normal SSW account - do you condone this?
  8. Oh Lewis! Are you still trying to flog the line that anyone who disagrees with you is part of a shadowy cabal of undertakers and council officials? (If he's going to screengrab the forum and put it on Twitter it's entirely reasonable to respond on this forum)
  9. Are you still using the 10,000 names you've collected over the past two years as the indication of huge local opposition btw? You could at a stretch call it 'huge opposition' but I'll wager the majority of those who have signed are not local (I'll take 'living in London' as local to give you a fair chance)
  10. Blanche - how did it go last night? How many FOCC members / friends of SSW went with you and Lewis to the meeting? Presumably with the thousands of people supporting you locally they only had room for a couple of dozen of you? Did you take a photo outside the council offices of your supporters?
  11. Deleted this post as I might as well shout in to a wind tunnel.
  12. dbboy - that's correct. They don't want either cemetery to be used. Nor do they want any local green space to be used for this purpose. However, if Southwark Council wants to move all it's burial provision out of their eyeline, that would be OK.
  13. Many thanks for clarifying your position, Blanche dbboy - the two statements are not a contradiction. FOCC are against burial on land near their homes, but happy for Southwark Council to provide burial for residents as long as it doesn't inconvenience them. Blanche - how far away from your home would be acceptable for burial provision? You've posted maps quite often so if you could just draw a circle around the area of your home you don't want to see burials provided in, that would be fantastic. Some people might call you the worst kind of NIMBY but that would be unfair.
  14. Hey Blanche - over here! So is the FOCC position that Southwark Council should provide burial plots for all religions, but outside the Borough? They're your words, as posted further up this page. "This is just another reason why new burial plots cannot be provided in the Borough." It's a very specific phrase and a change in approach by FOCC. Not provided BY the Borough, but IN the Borough. You'd be happy with Southwark Council continuing to provide a burial service as long as it didn't impact you locally? Is this correct?
  15. Hello again Blanche - are you OK? You keep missing this question so I'll just put it back here for you So is the FOCC position that Southwark Council should provide burial plots for all religions, but outside the Borough? They are your words in the reply a few posts up; I just want to be sure you're not misrepresented.
  16. Hello again Blanche - because it looked like you missed the question So is the FOCC position that Southwark Council should provide burial plots for all religions, but outside the Borough?
  17. Thanks for the response Blanche - just one more thing... Yes oddlycurious, you're right. This is exactly what we have been saying. If Southwark Council is in the burial business, it must provide a non-racist, non-discriminatory burial service. and This is just another reason why new burial plots cannot be provided in the Borough. So is the FOCC position that Southwark Council should provide burial plots for all religions, but outside the Borough?
  18. Hello again Blanche Enjoyed reading your latest press release: http://www.savesouthwarkwoods.org.uk/object-to-area-b-development/4593742804 It starts with quite the statement of intent: Tell Southwark Council that 1,000 burial plots on the Honor Oak Nature Corridor land is a destructive waste of inner London open green space. Having read your reasons the lack of provision of space for muslim and jewish burial isn't included. Do you still believe that Southwark Council have a responsiblity to provide land for muslim and jewish burials on a large scale? Your own numbers suggest thousands of plots are needed, not hundreds.
  19. Thank you Blanche "We petition the London Borough of Southwark to stop destroying trees, open spaces and graves in Camberwell Old and New Cemeteries and make the cemeteries nature reserves." You've campaigned quite vehemently that Southwark Council should provide provision for muslim and jewish burial on a large scale. Is this something you believe should be done in the borough, just not in Camberwell Cemeteries?
  20. Hello Blanche - what was the wording on the petition please? I'm curious how you covered more burial space for muslims and jews, the reclamation and restoration of war graves AND not doing any work at all in cemeteries across London in one go (I'll let save the hedgehogs go for now and focus on the biggies).
  21. Burying local people locally is more important to you than nature and history and heritage. wow... just wow.
  22. Peckman - this is the arguing about cemeteries room. You want room 12A, next door.
  23. Actually I'm all for the archaeological study. Sure, they'll have to close off the area for safety and yeah, dig everything up, but if that's what SSW wants
  24. SSW single aim is to disrupt the work; they know they can't stop it, they haven't managed a single cohesive argument and are now behaving like sulky children who didn't get their own way. Blanche and Lewis - you know for ?500 you could have run a candidate in the election? You wouldn't have got more than a few dozen votes but you would have had a new platform for your tin foil hat meanderings.
