The Dulwich Park fair is not part of the Dulwich Festival, only the Goose Green fair is. This year, Dulwich Park are doing the Teddy Bear's picnic instead of their usual Dulwich Park fair.

Hello We've been let down by our surveyor who didn't look at the loft as they said their ladder wasn't tall enough - we're about to exchange but are keen to check the loft/roof before! Thanks for the replies... I don't want to spark a debate between motorists and cyclists. I support cycling, although don't feel the roads are safe enough to cycle on, so I don't cycle. This is not a hate post about cyclists Malumbu - this is a post from someone who is scared that they were almost knocked over on the pavement by a large electric bike with an owner who flipped me off. Footpaths are for pedestrians. There are so many vulnerable people using the footpaths - from the littlest to the oldest in our society. I am really baffled how it has become so commonplace (and seemingly accepted) for electric bikes to be using the pavement. Maybe electric bikes should all have to have license plates and be registered?

How can we deal with people cycling - especially electric bikes - on the pavement? I was almost knocked over just now on Lordship Lane by a Just Eats electric bike - the owner didn't give two hoots. I have regularly experienced this around here (and of course other parts of London) and it really scares me, especially when I'm walking around with my very young children. Aside from pushing them into an oncoming bus... what are some more peaceful ways to stop this happening? A serious accident is waiting to happen.

This is the response I have had: To address your concerns around the trees, we want to assure you that GALA Festival will not and does not independently cut or prune any trees in the park. Any necessary work is carried out by the council and the Park's arborist and tree protection teams. Regarding your comments around nesting birds, please find attached the 2024 pre-event Bird Nesting Survey (conducted on 7th May), which finds there are no nesting birds within the GALA event site. However, the survey does outline areas around the site which have the potential for nesting birds. Please see below a few of the ways in which we aim to limit disturbance to these surrounding areas: Production Routes: Our routes avoid high potential areas. These routes strictly adhere to hardstanding pathways, with vehicle paths clearly defined and enforced by both traffic management and security personnel. Steel Shield Perimeter: Before any major works commence, a 3.5m steel shield perimeter is erected around the event site. This perimeter containment ensures that activities remain confined within the event site, protecting areas outside of the perimeter from undue disruption. Egress Route Management: During the event egress period, which lasts a maximum of half an hour, we will have some fencing and barriers to guide attendees safely out of the event area. This prevents access to the wider park, mitigating potential disturbances. Visual Messaging: Variable Message Signage (VMS) will be strategically placed, reminding guests to "leave quietly and respect our neighbours," encouraging respectful departure at the event's conclusion. Litter Prevention: To prevent littering we have increased the number of bins along the egress routes and made improvements to our litter collection. Enhanced Security Presence: Throughout the egress process, there will be enhanced security and steward presence to deter any antisocial behaviour. A secondary survey is scheduled to take place post-show so that we can assess and report on any impact we might have had during our tenancy in the park. They also said explicitly: The council approved arborist undertook the work.

Piplings has gone downhill massively - I know several parents who have pulled their kids out in the last 18 months. I don't have firsthand experience, but lots of negative feedback from local families. The building is also up for sale so you might find the nursery closes when that sale goes through...

Hello - does anyone have first hand experience of the catchment area for Charter North? I can see on their website the # metres, and I have used google maps to calculate it, and it looks as though the house we are buying is in it by about 100m, BUT - everyone keeps telling me how tiny the catchment area is, so I keep having a panic about it. Of course I know it will change from year to year, and likely to get smaller if Labour bring in the VAT rule on private schools. Grateful if anyone knows whether Melbourne Grove (near junction of East Dulwich Grove) has been in catchment in recent years. Thanks!
