Ha! So I was right with my name guess then. Shame I can't make the pub tonight :( Another time perhaps rcmacf??!

The song is "Can't be sure"... and I think you'll find it's miserable weather! Takes me back 20 years to Uni *sigh*. And as for you,Mr Smith; Amadan! Now go read some Blake.

  4. SeanMacGabhann Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > I've never understood why Jerusalem was "English"? > Anyone care to explain? It's all in those lovely words of William Blake, Sean. Did young JC hang out in Glasto or something?? And then, obviously, there's the vague Peckham connection!
  5. The Lambeth Walk Oranges & Lemons And surely you've got to include Jerusalem.
  6. Louisa - I think it's because they've spotted Michael Hodges pottering about on NCR.
  7. Jo Brand was a mental Health Nurse - ex Maudsley not KCH. No idea on her use of public transport but she did drive past me on Court Lane a few weeks ago.
  8. Maurice wins - he pipped me!
  9. Damn - you just beat me to it Maurice - obviously you can type faster!
  10. Ooooh - did anyone else just see the EDF on BBC 6pm news??
  11. Carrie, How did you get on in dealing with Merton Older Peoples service? Read up on the NHS/Community Care Act 1990 and Fair Access to Care Services (FACS). Your aunt is entitled to an assessment of her needs (Community Care Assessment). However often level of need must be deemed critical or substantial. It might be useful for your aunt to have you or another family member there to help advocate for her during an assessment. Age Concern will provide good advice. I hope you get a helpful & prompt response from local services in Merton.
  12. Good article about a fugitive paedophile,English law lords and libel by Nick Cohen in yesterday's Observer. And to answer the OP's question; yes.

Right. Sorry. Each time I stoll down LL I'll try hard to remember to wear my Irish Rugby shirt. And perhaps a funny Guinness hat? And greet everyone with a jolly "top of the mornin'". Er... stillthinking108, how can you tell one's nationality? Back on topic: The bugaboo brigade are welcome to Nero's and every other cafe & pub in the area. It's what keeps these places in business during the daytime/working week.
  14. Gordon Brown was undoubtedly a better Chancellor than PM. But there are some who think he may still pull off the general election in 2010 a la John Major in 1992. One can hope. As for that Irish Baronet - Gideon Osborne - well, I like to paste him up in his familys wallpaper and post via Royal Mail to Tipperary. Bullingdon Club as Cabinet anyone??
  15. Anyway, back to venerating the honourable HB and his MTH obsession. Before my time. Obviously.
  16. ???? Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > 300 Wasn't that a crap movie with wotisface Butler? Should have stuck with the comic. Er.. sorry, Graphic Novel.
  17. Did anyone else think this thread was going to be about resusitating someone on a footpath? Only me then?

Am I the only person who thinks this is somewhat passe? A faux jovial OP that is at least 30 years past its sell by date in terms of humour? Maybe I am? Actually I find the whole sentiment of it in poor taste. You can do better than this Bigbadwolf.

Then I re-read it. Personally, I would have put a question mark at the end of that statement. ps: Dulwich Mum - Drumcondra?? Nice to see you are descended from the proletariat.

  23. And at least it didn't go to the insipid Lisa Hannigan. But Florence was robbed!
  24. It was definately comportment. It was drilled in to us, especially when in uniform! But the two are indeed very similiar
  25. We had Comportment classes in my school. The nuns attempt at making proper young ladies of us. Failed in my case.
