  1. Important win for Arsenal last night, of all their remaining matches they only have two "hard" games, Man Utd and Liverpool and both of them are at home - 3/1 odds to win the league look generous - especially as Utd and Chelsea likely to progress in Champions League and Arsenal unlikely to.
  2. Rumour is Torres to Chelsea for ?48M and Carroll to Liverpool for ?35M plus Blackpool have signed Andy Reid as Charlie Adam replacement as he is off too Liverpool.

But please, for the love of all > that is good and holy in this world, stop with the > same old shite! They are not as bad as each other. Emerson/Atila is the clear troll who constantly uses antagonistic posts. Your suggestion is that people sit on their hands? From what I see most of the time people don't respond but sometimes react to the bait or dare mention something about Arsenal. The solution is not to for people sit on their hands, (too many are doing that already by not contributing to the thread) or to criticise people for occasionally responding to Emerson's bait. The solution is to ban Emerson.
  4. Guardian article on incident Includes quote from the East Dulwich Forum
  5. Bromley & Croydon Councils in favour of Crystal Palace moving into the park Councillor Stephen Carr, leader of Bromley Council, said: "Crystal Palace Football Club have spoken to us and we are very interested in their proposal to relocate the club to Crystal Palace Park. "These are potentially exciting times for Crystal Palace Park and of course, we would need to look very carefully at the merits of any proposal. "These fresh visionary ideas are welcome and ultimately, we want to improve the park and the wider area and any viable plan to improve the park could have a positive impact on the locality and secure a brighter future." See the link for the full article. I am pretty sure the plans Palace have would include regeneration of the park as a whole and in the other sports facilities already there. It could also mean that the previously proposed extension of the Croydon tramlink up to Crystal Palace would be much more likely as well. Palace go public with their plans tomorrow.
  6. They had an amnesty at Utd a few years ago when they worked out about 1,500 of the season ticket holders must be dead. Apparently at the Emirates they just nudge them to check they are alive :))

Utd had more season ticket holders in Manchester than City did. Utd have also had higher crowds than City every single year since 1946, not all Utd fans are Johnny come lateley's, although plenty are of course. Years ago you used to see Liverpool shirts everywhere, then Utd and Arsenal and more recently Chelsea, sure it will change again soon. Out of interest Emerson where did you grow up, Islington I presume?

Aticus, yes pretty disappointing turn out. > 27,000 of 5,800 were Leicester fans But I thought City had the best fans in the world and all lived local. I bet Dzeko is trying to find that bloke who told him City had the most supporters in Manchester. It was only ?15 to get in last night as well. Maybe as it was a night game they were worried they would miss the last train back to Stockport :))
  9. Crystal Palace Press Conference on planned move to NSC at Crystal Palace Park It looks as if Palace have sprung into action due to the Spurs v West Ham fight over the Olympic Stadium and possible implications for the National Sports Centre in Crystal Palace Park. I know Palace are very keen to develop a new stadium and the NSC is falling apart. There would need to be a huge investment in transport links for it to get approval though. If transport issues could be overcome I would be in favour myself and it sees the team return to their original home.
  10. I thought the manner of Liverpool's sacking of Hodgson was bad enough but West Ham, dear oh dear. I guess fans can look forward to some "Allardyce lite" football. O'Neill is a great manager but just can't see him not falling out with the lovely Gold, Sullivan and Brady.
  11. East Dulwich is generally very safe, I don't think there is an alarming rise in muggings but two in a couple of days within a 100 yards or so of each other, it's no doubt just an unfortunate coincidence, but it's worth mentioning.
  12. Painful attempt at streaking
  13. It is worth being careful at the moment. A woman got mugged on the corner of Melbourne Grove/Lytcott 2/3 nights ago, (the night the helicoper was circling) walking back from the train station. A couple of guys did chase him but he got away, despite the help of the helicopter search. The description I have is that it was a young black guy, so a different mugger to the one in the original post.

I didn't notice any outrage then. What can be believed is that Hodgson was hung out to dry. I fail to see a reason where if Liverpool were able to cancel the press conference they were not able to agree a statement on him leaving without him being made to go on Liverpool TV to talk about a match they plainly knew he would not be in charge of. Not sure about the details of the Benitez sacking but those owners were never the best at PR. I am sure with Dalglish in charge there will be a return to old fashioned ways of keeping things in house and returning to "the Liverpool way" of doing things on and off the pitch. Will be interesting to see if Glen Johnson is as lively on twitter again, after some criticism from Merson he reacted by saying ?Comments from alcoholic drug abusers are not really gonna upset me and who is Paul Merson to judge players, he was average at the best of times,?. Not sure we will see tweets like that for a while. When will players realise a tweet is not the same as a conversation with your mates down the pub.
  15. I thought Liverpool's treatment of Hodgson was awful. I am not talking about the sacking itself but how they did it. Cancelling the press conference, but making him do an interview for Liverpool TV to talk about the Utd v Liverpool game when everyone knew he was getting sacked. Surely they could have made the decision before then, a bit of a shambles made even worse by the fact that apparently they then sacked him by email, I think Hodgson, or any other manager deserves more than that.

Totally agree with ??? overall theme. He did start to put commercial interests ahead of football, especially with the move to the US. He should have realised his football mistake and come back to Europe to play, apparently Victoria is very keen on the Hollywood lifestyle though. There are also endless tales of Beckham going out of his way to do personal favours for individuals and charities (without any PR and off his own bat - before the cynics have a go). Over rated? If only more people made as much of their talent as he did and when successful gave as much back. Look forward to seeing him at Spurs.
  17. City played exactly as they did against home at Man Utd, no ambition. It is awful to watch, especially when they have a side good enough to have a go against Arsenal, who have lost at home to West Brom and Newcastle. Arsenal deserved to win and a shame they didn't. The thing is City don't actually care about winning the league, all that matters is that they qualify for the champions league and then they can attract yet more players next season. Success is qualification, anything above fourth they just see as a bonus. With Utd playing fairly poorly and Arsenal probably likely to lose points unexpectedly or wilt a little in the run in, City, with their experienced players, probably have a good shot at winning the league. It will be interesting to see if they really go for the title when they think a champions league spot is secure, doubt it though. Having said all that Arsenal have the easiest run in by a long, long way, could be a good time to put a bet on them.
  18. Charlton have just got new owners which presumably has influenced things. Denis Wise tipped to take over. Palace after a new manager of course as well, can't say I enjoyed the trip to Millwall on Saturday, (always a lovely bunch down there)the players didn't show much fighting spirit in support of Burley. Beat Preston yesterday in a very poor game with Steffen Iverson getting the winner and man of the match on his debut. Not sure who I want as Palace manager. If we were in a better position would like to see Sean O'Driscoll or Eddie Howe but will settle for Sir Steve until the end of the season.
  19. Understand Fergie recalling his own players but if he has something to do with this Stoke recall Pugh and Tonge from Preston it really is over the top and unfair on Preston.

Narnia Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > Not to him.......it's son related. Football > happens to be involved but nothing to do with his > actions. If he feels they need experience he can send them to another club. Fergie is a tough old git. I am sure the way he sees it, he did someone a favour, (also a favour to his son), they sack his son, the favour is over. The recall of the players is a case of you can't have your cake and eat it, being a mean old Glaswegian Fergie would have seen anything else as going soft. Besides Palace at home to Preston on Monday >:D<
  21. I run a large building firm and my son goes and runs a smaller company a few miles away. He asks me for a few favours (and I know the owner) so I lend them a brickie, carpenter and plumber who are better than most of their guys and better paid so I agree I'll pay some of their wages as well. Over winter what with all the snow their their yard wasn't fit to work in, I told them no problem come and use all our facilities, all your staff can come over and use our place no problem. Anyway my son made a bit of a balls up and they sacked him. They then act all surprised when I tell the brickie, carpenter and plumber to come back and work for me, they need them for own business they say, ignoring the fact that the contract we drew up said I could recall them at any time. Unbelievable, you try and do some people a favour.
  22. Utd have still got to play Chelsea twice plus Arsenal, Liverpool and Spurs away so will drop more points, should be close come the end of the season. Palace conceded a penalty in the 5th minute of injury time at Bristol yesterday - gutted. I can now look forward to a trip to Millwall v Palace on New Years Day, sure they will give us a nice warm welcome.
  23. Allardyce is not right for West Ham, sure the fans would go bonkers but Wigan, Sheff Utd, Ipswich might be tempted? Nobody like Sam's football but owners like his ability to produce results without spending much money. Arsenal fans, a similar dilemma to the West Ham one - if the choice was great football under Wenger or less attractive football but a couple of trophies won - would you swap? The question is real by the way not a wind-up!
  24. West Ham giving "serious consideration" to replacing Grant with Allardyce - from the Guardian Allardyce to West Ham If the option was as simple as stay up with Allardyce or get relegated which choice would you West Ham fans make?
  25. I thought Blackburn would stick with him until the end of the season as it would be the safest way for the new owners guaranteeing staying up and protecting their investment. Today they were 10th favourites to get relegated with a favourable run of games coming up, think the odds on them getting relegated will drop. Now thinking of owners who would be keen to protect their investment and who need to see a bit more fight in their team...Gold and Sullivan? I hate Allardyce football by the way.
