  1. Jess you turn vegetarians into patties! I think Bee74 requested no vegetarian bashing remarks!
  2. Still spaces available for the Saturday morning Stage 1 class in ED which started this week. I think stage 1 is up to 12 months (not sure)? Anyway please come or the class will close (and I'll have to go to Blackheath for a Saturday morning stage 1 class).
  3. I was very fond of my perhaps slightly prudish breastfeeding cover. Great for discreetly feeding baby in confined public spaces trains, planes and restaurants. Also can be worn over anything. http://www.babybubu.co.uk/ Especially good when combined with the post baby fat hiding Belly Hugger.
  4. I?m very surprised about the nursing qualifications too. Blows my theory HV?s are actually trained to give you increasingly ridiculous advice until you realise you have to/should/have no choice but to trust your own instincts instead!
  5. You can work up to 10 Keeping In Touch days whilst on maternity leave without loosing your maternity rights and benefits. Maybe worthwhile if possible organising a couple of KIT days in the office as a trial run at leaving baby SB and seeing how you feel once physically back in the office. I have been easing myself back into work through KIT days and like Smiler I find it far easier to cope at work after a broken night's sleep than at home. By my third day at work last week everyone was complimenting me on how well I looked despite having my worst week of broken nights for about two months! I shall be returning full-time in January (unfortunately I have no choice as my architect partner has been made redundant). The current plan is for him to be a SAH until baby F is one with a childminder 1 day a week to allow him to do some freelance work if possible. Maybe you should also consider getting a childminder/nursery place one day per week now if you can afford it - will give you a break from baby SB and you can consider what you want to do going forward.
  6. My 6 month old baby has just accepted his FIRST bottle in THREE MONTHS using a MAM TEAT (after trying NUK, Dr Brown, Tommee Tippe, Boots)!!!!! Thank you so, so, so much for recommending them anna_r. They are available from Boots Peckham Rye - get down there quick before I buy the rest of their stock!
  7. Thank you very much for the feedback Molly - pleased your daughters head self-corrected. Fortunately my son's face is fairly symmetrical and nothing is misaligned (so from the NHS current viewpoint his head shape is a cosmetic issue they won't consider treating). I went to a private clinic and his exact measurements are 12mm asymmetry and 101% on the cranial index. Asymmetry is on the borderline for treatment but the CI head width to depth measurement is definitely on the severe side.
  8. Hi I noticed at about 4 weeks my son had developed a flat spot on the right hand side of his head, I started repositioning him wherever possible, using a GoiGoi pillow, trips to the osteopath etc but it hasn?t gone away so far (he?s now 5 and a half months). I know if I wanted to go the route of cranial remoulding (helmet therapy) now is the time. I have always received the standard advice from my GP and HV that the problem will self-correct or his hair will cover it but if he?s anything like his dad his hair will only have a shelf life of about 30 years ? not long enough! I know helmet therapy is effective but I feel it is a slightly evasive and aggressive procedure for a problem that may self-correct albeit over a much longer period of time. I was wondering if there is anyone out there who hasn?t gone ahead with treatment and now wishes they had i.e. has an older child with a noticeably flat head? Or is there anyone out there whose child?s head did naturally self-correct (and how long did it take)? Also interested in the experiences of any parents whose kids have undergone helmet therapy (nobody seems to regret it)? Apologies for the length of this post and I haven?t even started on the whole ethical debate on subjecting a baby to what is a perhaps an unnecessary cosmetic procedure. Arggggh!
