  1. Apparently the one minute rule is in effect for evening appointments, that's what I was told by their lovely receptionist any way. My original post stated "c***s". You've all assumed that the middle letters were meant to be 'unt'! Talk about jumping to conclusions! How do you know they weren't something less ofensive, such as 'ock' for example? To all these holier than thou posters castigating me for my use of a deliberately obscured to protect the innocent naughty word, I'd like to see what your reaction would have been if faced with the same situation. People form their opinions of organisations based on their own experiences, obviously a few of you have had good ones. Based on my experience of DMC, my opinion is that they are indeed a bunch of c***s. I am perfectly entitled to hold this opinion and to also state it in a public forum. If the people at DMC read this they will know exactly who I am and that does not bother me at all. I will have no problem saying exactly the same when I track down their manager next week to have it out with him. Fuscia, I was two minutes late! The appointment was at 6:50 not 6:30!
  2. One other thing, the one minute policy is rediculous, as it assumes that all patients will have their phones / watches set to exactly the same time as their clock. I set my phone to the offical 'big ben time' using the internet to avoid missing trains, etc, and as it happens my phone and their clock were in sync. What however if you were a pensioner or something who didn't? I'd bet if I went into a local pub and did a "what time do you make it" survery, there would be a spread of a few minutes. Jollybaby, you might not earn 80k, but I'll bet you earn over the 50k lower quoted figure eh! Still a handsome wage and a hell of a lot more than most people. HonaloochieB, although I have calmed down now after my initial rage about this disgrace, I still feel that to call an organisation a bunch of c###s for this one minute policy is entirely appropriate. To refuse people an appointment for being one minute late, by their clock, is RUDE, NASTY and quite frankly DISPICABLE.
  3. jollybaby, your post makes some valid points, however I feel that there are other things that could be done. Treating people with contempt is not the answer. Also you say I should have allowed over run time for crap tubes. I'd say allowing an hour and a half to get from Fulham Broadway tube to East Dulwich is sufficient time. Why not for example allow 10 mins for an appointment, but have say a 10 minute gap every hour to soak up any minor lateness / over runs? Or accept that things will always over run and schedule and pay receptionists/nurses/doctors to leave the place say 30 mins to an hour after the last appointment? I shall definitely be looking to take my business (if thats the word?) elsewhere. Yours a very ill and pissed off sack donger.
  4. So I had an appointment today at 6:50pm. Due to a crap tube I was running late, I ended up arriving at 6:52pm. "Sorry, we have a policy, if you are even one minute late for an appointment, you can't be seen and have to rebook." ONE MINUTE! I can understand that there has to be a cut off point for being late, but one minute! I can only imagine that the GPs who run this shambolic operation have introduced such a policy to avoid having to stay any longer at the surgery than they have to. Well very nice for them. "Salaried GPs employed directly by PCTs earn between ?53249 to 80354, ..." According to the NHS careers website. (http://www.nhscareers.nhs.uk/details/Default.aspx?Id=553) Well if you can't be bothered to stay an extra ten minutes or so at work to help ill people when you are paid that much, shame on you! What a downright mean, nasty and oppressive policy this is, if any of the DMC gps are reading this you are a mean mean bunch of bastards.
  5. Hit a massive one my self about half an hour ago, fortunately was in car, not on bike, but If I had been riding Id have been a gonner for sure. There's literally hundreds of them about at the mo, I wouldn't like to be the beancounter at Southwark council who has to arrange funds to get them all filled in. Seriously though, they are a danger.. perhaps the venerable Mr Barber has some thoughts on this? Was musing over the reasons for their appearance, obviously its something to do with the snow and cold weather but anybody got any idea of exactly why they have appeared?
  6. There was indeed some kind of Chinese / South east asian celebration going on on Saturday. I had the pleasure of witnessing a number of Dragons entering the Vietnamese restaurants on Kingsland Road for some kind of ritual pac choi offering.
  7. Don't see this one working I'm afraid, unless it is REALLY good! As far as I know all of the LL curry houses have more than enough veggie dishes to keep even the most ardent meat dodger happy. Then again I was of the opinion that Jafflong's was a tandoori too far, but that seems to be doing ok.
  8. Its a complete farce, that's all I can say. Why has the snow caused such gridlock? Ok, I can Imagine it slowing traffic a bit, but complete gridlock? I cycled from Fulham to ED this eve, wandsworth, clapham, brixton, herne hill, gridlock. Was a flaming nightmare. Is the city still in a state of gridlock, or have things eased a bit?
  9. Not saying that, its just that I dunno why there isnt one on the lane, thats all. It is after all the most proinent location in the area.
  10. One thing we don't need is more curry houses round here! Why did the chopsticks close, lack of business? I never went in myself, just didnt like the look of the place for some reason, possibly others thought the same? If I had my way I decent italian pizzaria retaurant would open up there. It still surprises me that there isnt one on LL, a pizza place with 'mama mia' style italian chefs and waiters would coin it for sure.
  11. So how did it all go then? I saw santa and the donkey 'parading' up Calton ave at about 3pm, felt a bit sorry for him as the only people with him were two coppers. Was there much of a turn out in the end? I aint got kids myself but if I did I would have definitely come out to pay him a visit.
  12. NO! it wasnt a rickshaw, but a highly regarded knackered toyota corolla. If you book one of the peckham cab firms, it is 10 quid to Grenwich. If you book a dulwich one or a herne hill one it is about ?15. The dulwich ones charge more.
  13. That junction is absolutely terrible! from all angles, not just the calton avenue / court lane one. The amount of time I spend sat there with the lights on red, whilst literally NO cars come the other way is rediculous. Its also a nightmare to cross as a pedestrian as well, u need your wits about you. As for the original post, there is no justification for the silver people carrier to think he had right of way. It may be a badly designed junction, but it is obvious that you have to give way at the bottom of Calton Avenue. The guy in the people carrier was quite clearly a clown.
  14. If it was me I'd book a local taxi company to pick you up somewhere near the 02. Its 10 quid from ed to greenwich, so would be what? ?15 from 02 to ed. By booking a local one to meet you at a certain time you avoid the ovbious huge queues for the 'o2' taxis at the end.
  15. The companies with most money will always squeeze those with less. On one hand the new sainsburys wll be good, however I doubt the sainsbury's share holders/ chairman etc will have problems feeding their families if their store is not there. The people who run the 3 or 4 very good grocery shops 50m away will do though. It makes me sad the way the world works sometimes.
