The Trojan Women- a staged reading A one-off performance of Euripides' Classic Greek play to commemorate Cyprus Week Performed on the 50th anniversary of the invasion of Cyprus in 1974, The Trojan Women, by the great Athenian dramatist Euripides, is set immediately after the fall of Troy and the killing of the Trojan men when the fates of the royal women and children of the city hang in the balance. In this unflinching and timely tragedy adapted by Neil Curry, which confronts the themes of genocide and infanticide, we are invited to question the barbaric actions of those that abuse their positions of power for political gain. With an introduction from poet and playwright Neil Curry. 90 minutes with no interval. Book your free tickets here: https://www.tickettailor.com/events/theatrotechnis1/1277726
  2. Hello, I require a nanny housekeeper to first clean the house (vaccum, dust, bathroom) and then collect my 6 year old son and 9 year old daughter from school three times a week and give them their meal (which is usually prepared in advance for you) and then engage the children in play. My children love playing and would benefit from an active, energetic and creative nanny who can dote on them. You would begin in January and the hours would be Monday, Tuesday and Thursday from 1pm to 5.30pm with the potential to expand to the full week. Please send me a message on 07827 704933 if you're interested. We will compensate for your extra cleaning duties. Thanks
  3. Hello, Looking for a nanny who can drive and can start next month in Tooting Bec. Hours are 1pm-6.30pm Monday to Friday. Please let me know if you or anyone you know is interested. Thanks, Dani
  4. Hi everyone, thanks for all your messages. In one week, we will have a new member of our family that is small and furry and not a mouse. Best, Farah
  5. Thank you so much everyone for your responses. It seems the scale is in favour of a cat. Good thing I like them.
  6. Hello, We have a very minor but ongoing presence of mice in our house. We see the occasional dropping in the suspect areas and even more rarely hear a mouse scratching but after living in New York where the mice are confident jumping onto your lap, I have PTSD. We have had multiple "mouse proofings" but they just keep coming back. Our house is old and they eventually find their way in. Will a cat deter the mice from coming in, in your experience? I know there's a risk of the cat bringing me dead mice, but I'm wondering whether cat owners find having a cat in the house generally prevents mice from wanting to explore. Thanks Farah
  7. Thank you everyone for your advice. It seems like a very personal decision depending on the temperament (and energy/patience levels) of your eldest and mum in terms of walking and using a buggy board. We've decided to go for a second hand double buggy that can convert back to a single with the option of buying a buggy board if needed. Who knew we would agonize over such seemingly mundane decisions :) Thanks again Farah
  8. Thank you for the advice. She doesn't sleep in the pram. We have a light umbrella-style stroller (Joie) that was more for efficiency to get from A to B. We don't have steps so that's a bonus! Will do a little more research.
  9. Hi everyone, My eldest will be two months shy of 3 years old when number 2 is born. We currently don't depend on a car at all and all appointments/outings are by foot and within a 15-30 min walk. We have also just moved to ED so are unfamiliar with the area and how difficult it is to manage the pavements etc. We are wondering if we should just cut out the fuss of a buggy board and get a double buggy? I am also quite short so can imagine hunching over a buggy board and walking a bit like a penguin?! What would you recommend? Thank you very much Farah
