  1. I'm so sorry to tell you that as I was walking this morning I saw a cat collide with a car, which drove away (probably not realising quite what had happened as it was the back/side of the car). I took it to the vet in Herne Hill and having checked up on the situation, I'm very sorry to tell you they didn't make it.
  2. Ben came round and helped fix a broken extractor fan. Good communication, efficient and a nice guy as always. Recommend!
  3. Another recommendation for Aria. Communication was top notch, came round quickly and sorted out the leak promptly and efficiently. Also a really nice guy. Would definitely use Aria again.
  4. Hi all I had a dishwasher installed yesterday and now the flat below have had some water leaking through their ceiling. I think the issue is a dripping something under the sink - or residual water from the installation. Is anyone able to tell me what this thing with the blue circles on is? And ideally how to fix the dripping?! https://ibb.co/6DCx475 Thanks so much
  5. You can't talk about Palestinian lives and suffering without the contributory effect of Hamas. The two are inextricably linked. Every time Hamas celebrates murdering innocent civilians, as an elected party, there is less sympathy for Palestinians - and greater scrutiny placed on funds made available to help Palestinians genuinely suffering. If this isn't a thread to discuss the issues surrounding the suffering of Palestinians, then it isn't a thread at all - it's just propaganda and posting of links, with you shutting down comment. This is meant to be a discussion board, not an echo chamber.
  6. Perhaps your posts are out of care, but you just posting one side does nothing to aid understanding of what is a hugely complex situation. It just comes across as unhelpful propaganda - and I don't believe has any place on a discussion board. If you're going to raise the issue of Palestinian suffering, you can't not mention the role of Hamas - designated as a terrorist organisation by the UK, the US and the EU - who delight in the murder of innocent civilians, have an appalling human rights record, and hatred of the LGBT community. There is fault on both the Israeli and Palestinian side - but I'm sorry to say your posts are just not helpful in furthering understanding.
  7. Might be worth a pause in this rather unusual thread to consider the Israeli civilian murders over the past few weeks. And no, that doesn't mean every action taken by Israel/the Israeli Government is correct.
  8. Hi there I'm a flat owner in a converted Victorian house. The Freeholder is responsible for arranging buildings insurance - the cost of which is split equally amongst the four flats. I have been cited a figure of around ?600 for my share i.e. c.?2,400 for the building. The four flats are all probably worth in the region of ?390k-?430k each. Is this a reasonable figure? It seems high. Thanks!
  9. Ben came over and did a few quick jobs. Turned up on time, good communication and comes across as a good, honest guy. Recommend!
  10. I didn't use Roger in the end - but he was extremely helpful and honest on the phone about what he could and could not help with (and to stop me wasting money). Seemed a good guy!
  11. Thanks all - very much appreciated. Judging from these answers, mine does seem very high...!
  12. Hi there I own the leasehold to a flat, which is in a converted house (along with 3 other flats). The flats are all probably in the range of ?300k-?450k. The freeholder arranges the buildings insurance, which we split 4 ways. We arrange our own contents insurance. Does anyone have an idea of a rough cost? The cost seems very high to me. Thanks!
  13. Mine's been working - but so patchy over the last few months I decided to ditch them and move to Sky (with a reduce bill of 15% or so). VM's customer service and billing structure is abysmal and, I suggest, intentionally so.
  14. Hi all I bought a flat in a converted house in the area and love it. The only real downsides are the external of the building and the freeholders, who live in the block, but just don't care and have zero pride in the house. Our house is probably one of the worst looking on the road, and it would probably take very little effort to bring it up to a reasonable standard. Unfortunately, the freeholders are utterly territorial and aggressive, and won't even consider allowing anyone to help out. I don't want to buy the freehold, and forming a Right to Manage company may not be feasible, as the freeholders own 2 out of the 4 flats. Anyone have any ideas/advice? Thanks!
