  1. Glad to see happy outcome
  2. Oh how lovely that you took care of the dog and have managed to locate the owners. I hope they were very appreciative of all that you did. ❤️
  3. Why on earth haven't they been working until now?
  4. I'm very sorry to hear all the problems you're having with Southwark Council, but I can assure you that I have had equally bad service from them mo4 the years and I am white. Some of the people who answer the phone are extremely rude and unhelpful. I wish you lots of luck
  5. That would certainly freak me out and I think I'd be tempted to call 101 and let the police know as it may well have been somebody casing the joint as so likely to do it again at other houses
  6. Great initiative. Thank you
  7. I'm sorry you had this horrible frightening experience. I'm an older woman and walk most days in the park and agree it is becoming a scary place at times with young poeple trying to be menacing, and the feel of the park has changed a lot since I first lived here...for the worse!!!

Well spotted. Bloody cheek to insult the One Dulwich members too! Suggests he or she is worried!
  9. Impossible for Labour Southwark Council to sink any lower in my opinion.
  10. The Isle of Wight has red squirrels and as far as I know it's legal offence to bring a grey squirrel to the Island. Also Brownsea Island in Poole harbour has red squirrels only
  11. I imagine the unscrupulous ones will jack up prices at same time assuming diners won't mind as they are getting a ?10 discount if meal is at least ?20
  12. Poor you. What a stupid and unhelpful policy by Southwark...but predictable for them. Can't imagine why fly tipping is so rife and blighting towns and countryside! They are supposed to work for council tax paying residents not against us.
  13. Do a search on Martin Lewis money website because there's a lot of information on there on the legal side and specimen letters you can use to to challenge it. the same thing happened to me in a different supermarket and I offered them ?1 for my overstay and that was the end of the matter
  14. Oh I I totally understand your distress at the blackbirds alarm call. It is a sound which which seems to pierce the heart! It may not have been as bad as you think because I've noticed the blackbirds make this terrible calling when they see a cat even if the cat is no threat to them. I I have four cats so have quite a lot of experience of this unfortunately
  15. Thanks for warning us. Sympathies to your brother and hope he's recovering ok from this horrible incident
  16. It beggars belief that the police can't catch and charge them especially as they are so brazen. Sympathies to all those affected by these criminals
  17. Well I do feed the foxes despite the doom laden earlier post. As a car driver my risk of death/injury on the road is far higher than any risk to my health caused by foxes. Just my penny worth and not trying to provoke an argument. I love the foxes
  18. Thank you for trying to rescue the poor frightened cat. Are the owners able to call it from near their tragically fired damaged house. It might come to their voice?

Big sigh. In addition to being very ugly I doubt bins by the gates would be used by the feckless. Much of the rubbish was simply left where people had been in the middle of the lawns and open spaces so they hadn't even bothered to find a bin, let alone carry rubbish back to the entrance. It's happening all over the UK not just here in SE London unfortunately.
  20. Thanks for all your research Rockets and others. I've lived in Southwark for 40 years and nothing has changed in terms of my incredibly low opinion of the council. This is really pretty disgraceful. If they have manipulated those traffic figures as it would seem, they're really ought to be a high level investigation. We're not a Banana Republic... I just don't understand how they can get away with it and hope people will use their vote more wisely next time.
  21. I'm in West Dulwich but have loads of feeders with variety of different foods, but dried mealworms or suet balls or pellets, seem the favourites with starlings...but especially mealworms. They don't seem interested in the nuts or seeds. Seemingly delicious enough to squabble over then despite sharing the garden with 4 cats!
  22. Not very special, but I seem to have attracted every starling in London bringing their very noisy big babies...over 30 of them. They have found the mealworms and are going crazy with excitement, and using the makeshift water-baths with relish. I'm waiting for further complaints from my neighbours, and spending a fortune on giant sacks of mealworms!
  23. Not unless something has changed since last week. Very annoying and difficult esp. for children and older people amongst others of course
  24. I was nearly hit early this evening. I was crossing the road on foot and a lunatic came squealing round the bend at a terrific speed and slammed his brakes on when he saw me, just in time. It was a very close shave.
  25. I've never seen so few goldfinches around here as this year. I wonder what is different? I only have two, whereas most years I see 15-20 during the breeding season
